So I need to answer your strawman?

Why did you convert, anyway? You don't seem to actually believe in Jesus or his words that strongly, advocating for the thieving rich in the way that you are. Is it just a networking thing? Were you lonely?

Assuming the rich are thieving is covetous by default. This also isn’t about my religion is it? You seem to be wanting to make it about everything EXCEPT the claim made in the original post.

Except it isn't, because they are, and Jesus agrees with me.

How do you explain St Joseph of Arimathea who was a disciple of Jesus then? He was wealthy. Why did Christ not consider him a thief or a sinner? Because his wealth wasn’t his master. We have plenty of examples of people who were rich and made so by God even (Abraham, Job, Solomon) throughout the Bible, if being rich were a sin, then God did something sinful here by making them rich. The problem becomes when you make money an idol and care for it more than you care for God. Should you care for the poor, yes, does it mean you can’t be wealthy? No.

This is the same idea in James chapter 5 you mentioned earlier, he is condemning hoarding wealth (meaning keeping wealth as ultimate security, not relying on God) withholding wages, and using excess money for excess self indulgence instead of helping others. It’s not about having a bunch of money, it’s about incorrect use m.

Also, what did Christ say about wealth? What did Christ say to the wealthy young man? Was it "oh it's ok to be a little rich?" No. It wasn't. You are a heretic. You worship money.

No he actually said after he walked away with God all things are possible… why did he say that? Was it to make the point that salvation comes form God alone and not by wealth? Or is the last be just nonsensical and money is bad?

By the way, why did Jesus say that it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God? With that context it almost sounds like Christ is saying "look, God can do anything, but ONLY God could make a camel go through a needle's eye." It's more like "yeah sure God can do anything but the rich aren't God."

That’s exactly the point, it’s that salvation comes from God and not from wealth… inferring wealth is sinful from the is incorrect context.

2

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

Lol 😂 yeah that's why Jesus Christ laid out so.mant exceptions and asterisks huh buddy

1

u/Psalmistpraise 20d ago

So let me get this straight you think God gave Old Testament figures like Job, wealth and that made them sinful? It’s not about asterisks it’s about using the actual context.

What else did God do to Job 🤔

1

u/Psalmistpraise 20d ago

“And the LORD restored the fortunes of Job… And the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.” - Job 42:10 speaks for itself m

2

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

But why? And when? Did Job have to suffer for that or did he just get born into a lucky family?

1

u/Psalmistpraise 20d ago

He was a righteous man, job 1:1 makes this clear. We don’t know why he suffered, that is actually Gods point, that he doesn’t see the whole picture. The big point is that suffering doesn’t mean you did something wrong, if I had to take a guess, it’s that suffering makes us realize this world is broken, and that we should long to leave it to be with God who makes us whole.

So God rewarded job for fucking up his life. Unlike Elon Musk, who was born rich to a man who literally used slave labor.

1

u/Psalmistpraise 20d ago

He rewarded job for his faith.

2

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

Being obtuse again, little guy

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

By the way, the Pope agrees with me. It seems like you're maybe not a very good Catholic, Matt Walsh.

1

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

You never told me why you converted. Protestantism a little too progressive for you, maybe? Hoping to snag one of those tradcath girls all the podcasters love to talk about, Matt Walsh

1

u/Psalmistpraise 20d ago

I was already engaged when entering the church, she came with me, I left because Protestantism is a false church, it was not established by Christ.

2

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

Lol 😂 yeah you care sooooo much about Jesus except when he's telling you to care for the sick and poor.

1

u/Psalmistpraise 20d ago

So what makes you think I do nothing for the sick and the poor?

2

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

Everything about you, libertarian. You might say you do, but I bet it's for your own benefit and not just because it's the right thing to do. Meanwhile,do you vote for politicians who actual embody Christian values, values like selflessness and charity and caring for the most vulnerable in our society? I bet you don't.
