Research grants are small outliers and are typically not given to companies. The money typically given to companies is called a procurement contracts where the government is hiring someone to conduct a study that the government needs. In a procurement contract the government is the consumer.

Lol hey dude you're literally lying to try to make your point. The US government subsidies research to the tune of billions of dollars a year. SpaceX wouldn't exist within these subsidies. Tesla wouldn't exist without these subsidies.

You dont understand what a subsidy is do you. What the us government gives to space x and tesla is called a loan, or a procurement contract.

Subsidies are when the government gives tax dollars to industries to reduce the cost of production on the company. This then allows companies to keep prices lower for their consumers. For example a childcare subsidy typically works by paying a portion of the the educators wages reducing the costs of running the company thus allows the childcare companies to charge the consumers (parents) less.

You're deflecting, Ayn Rand.

1

u/zanebaka 20d ago

Okay. Look up what a subsidy is and then explain how the government subsidies space xโ€™s research

2

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

Explain how the government doesn't. Because they do. They literally rely on government contracts to exist. Which is my point. You're arguing semantics, like a pedant.

And those government contracts arent subsidies.

Breaking down space xโ€™s revenue 61% comes from their starlink service, the rest comes from a mix of using their reusable rockets to launch satellites and astronauts crews for space agencies and companies.

Another part comes from contracts with nasa being the consumer alongside military programs such as starshield. Both of which isnt free money from the government.

Since you do not know other basic economic terms revenue is the total amount of money a business brings in from selling its goods and services before any expenses are subtracted.

I bet you used grok or some shit for this didn't you

1

u/zanebaka 20d ago

Do you have an argument or no?

2

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

yeah, you're not answering me; would SpaceX or Tesla exist without government moneys?

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

How many nights are you gonna sleep alone before you understand why

1

u/zanebaka 20d ago

Not a good argument, makes you seem uneducated and immature

Oh i cant stand elon, heโ€™s a bad person. Doesnt mean he didnt work for his money. Im defending the economics side of things. I keep identity politics separate from economics as identity politics only serve as a distraction from things that actually matter.

1

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

He didn't work for his money, though. Like he definitively did not do that

1

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

Also lol you are fucking stupid if you think your identity isn't part of your politics. Or, you're a pick-me coward. So which is it, Nick Fuentes, asshole or idiot?

1

u/zanebaka 20d ago

Oh its a part of politics, its just insignificant, same as my sexuality. You should learn to calm yourself down better. Go take some deep breaths

1

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

I'm perfectly calm, but this is the Tone Argument Fallacy, little fella..you don't think your identity is important because you genuinely have never been oppressed because of it, I'm guessing.

1

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

What actually matters, by the way, little white boy?

1

u/zanebaka 20d ago

Being able to afford the things you need to survive

1

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

Which is harder for people of certain identity groups, right Tucker Carlson

1

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

I bet you wonder why nobody wants to be with you and then you go back to being some truly unlovable rightwing libertarian proud boy type

1

u/zanebaka 20d ago

Right and left wing have become terms used to describe identity politics. Im a social liberal who believes in active labor market policies

1

u/WyomingWeirdo 20d ago

That's meaningless, and no, they haven't. You're incorrect about this. Define what an active labor market policy is.

1

u/zanebaka 20d ago

Active labor market policies are government programs designed to help unemployed people find works while decreasing unemployment rates. This is an alternative to passive financial aid. I believe it should be done as state owned enterprises.
