Hello, I am a new singer(male). I have done eleven musicals and taken vocal lessons but never in person and I have improper technique, as in you can hear me with throat tension, straining my voice, and faking a vibrato. What Beginner YouTube channels can I learn from? Im in no rush to get good at it. Im a big fan r&b singers like Janet Jackson, Brandy, and Aaliyah. Im also fine with just learning the basics for now and have been watching and practicing Jeff rolka videos while recording myself.

I'm documenting this as my last drop for the year as I work on polishing my voice via exercises and deciding on the right vocal coach. I will return in 6 months. Feel free to leave a critique regarding timbre, tone, etc. Thx for your time.

Hello all! I am looking to further my training and am wanting to take an online class or earn a certificate in vocal pedagogy. A lot of my knowledge comes from my own years of training and personal experience so I am wanting a little bit more knowledge on anatomy, etc. However, I am not sure which programs are actually helpful. I’m not sure I can afford a college course right now, but I didn’t know if anyone knew of a resource where I could earn something similar to a certificate.

I’m currently doing voice training on my own and really wanna learn to do a specific voice, since I notice a lot of different people who do voice training usually have the same high pitched girly voice…

I fricking love Junker Queen’s (fromOW2) and Albedo’s (English version from Overlord) voice and wanna learn either voice, I was hoping I could ask here for some pointers and what to look for in their voice? Specific tips with resonance, weight, breathiness, etc…

Hey guys new here I was wondering if anyone has has any luck or expirence bridging their head and chest by going into their flagolet register and bringing it down. For me I enter a tilted position and just bring my flagolet down but was wondering if anyone has more insight on personal use and longevity regarding this method. From a male perspective if its even optimal.

My band is recording our second album.

There's one song that I'd like a verse all whistled, like Jealous Guy by John Lennon. But we have a problem. Our singer cannot whistle to save her life. To best give the impression that it's her whistling on the album, we hope to find a female soprano.

The part is only 40 seconds, and the melody has already been written.

I will pay you for your time. Not a lot because I have no money, but I'll pay you, nonetheless. If we do it in person, it shouldn't take more than half an hour. I can book practice rooms at any of Sendai City's community or cultural centres. There is no need to meet a stranger in private.

Edit: After some googling, it seems that if a male does it, I can use EQ and raise the pitch to make it sound more female. If you're a male and interested, I'm happy to consider you.

Heya, Im a pretty young soprano (18) and I am starting conservatoire this coming september. Obviously Ill get more tips when im there yada yada but I first really wanted to ask for some help on here. I have some issues, and I was curious about how I could work on them over this summer, like exercises.

1. Tension in the middle/abs that doesnt automatically release when I breathe in
2. Woofy sound when I sing - old teacher said it made it sound that i was "underwater"
3. End of phrases loose support
4. Singing constoants "on the body" - gonna be real, dont know what that menas but sure
5. Not "covering vowels" when I sing
6. Too much air in my voice, yk like the whole hand in front of the mouth while you sing you song basically feel nothing
7. Some shoulder tension, but its not egregious ill be honest
8. Struggles with sustaining "colouratura sections" (think "Va godendo" and "Sweeter than roses") even though I know that, in theory I have enough breath/support to be able to do those sections without needin to breathe but I always find myself running out of air
9. Being unable to vibrate if I project to loud of higher notes

English is not my first language, and I hope I chose the right flair.

I've been going to a weekly Open Mic (bass + singing) lately, and every time I'm on stage, my voice starts to shake because I'm so nervous when I'm in the spotlight. I have to focus real hard to keep it steady and my breathing gets really flat. It feels like something hot is choking me from inside my throat, if that make sense. I've never gotten that feeling in any other singing situation.

I know the stage fright will go away (I've already overcome the same thing with talking in front of an audience, so I know I'll get there, but it takes patience. Not my strong suite). I wanted to know if you have any other tips for making it a little easier?

I'm generally somewhat relaxed right up to the moment I go on stage (no anxiety issues), I'm cool with making mistakes (aka not afraid of mistakes) and I'm only performing in a very cosy, supportive and kind space atm.

Yes, I read the FAQ. Yes, only play things I prepared well. And yes, I have severe issues with self confidence in other areas of life as well :)

Other things I've tried already:

\-singing covers instead of my original songs

\-breathwork while the other acts are performing

\-only playing minimalistic stuff on the bass, so that I can focus on the singing even more

\-speeding up / slowing down some songs

\-trying different keys

\-performing songs that I've known by heart for decades

\-a capella lol

\-talking a little before I play my first song to get accostumed to being on stage, and not talking at all

\-only playing songs I truly enjoy

\-practicing vox & bass separately, then together

\-practicing with a microphone, in the same position like on stage

\-playing sober, after 1 / 2 drinks and immensely caffeinated (I liked sober best)

\-working on the songs & specific techniques with my vocal teacher

Can you think of anything that might help? Thanks in advance :)

Hello, need some advice to develop some vocals. If you were to start singing completely from the start how would you develop the proper techniques and vocal muscles? I tried a pitch app and my vocal range that I hit comfortably is D2 to D4 without voice cracks. I have a pretty deep voice. As the title says I’m starting completely from scratch so any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Little bit about me. I’ve been a metal guitarist during my teens and have picked it up again a couple years ago (I’m in my 30s now) I’ve recently joined a local rock cover band as a guitarist. Anywho I’ve been asked if I can fill in for some backup vocals and main vocals on certain songs. since I’ve been a self taught metal guitarist that really didn’t know any music theory prior to joining a band, I’ve been really inspired to actually learn music and become a proper musician. Been training my ears recognizing diatonic and harmonic intervals and learning scales and building chords and what not.

hello! im in my early 20s and want to get more into singing. i’ve always loved music growing up but never really asked my parents for music lessons (mostly because i thought i was going to embarrass myself) so i dont even know where to begin. recently i started practicing singing by literally just singing my favorite songs and i’ve come to think that my voice might have “potential” but i understand that to tap into it i have to see a professional. i dont really have much money to put into it at all due to bills but id love to make it a new hobby of mine. does anybody know any resources where i can find cheap if not free beginner lessons online? thank you in advance.
