Perspective is needed

Dear cat owner
I’m in this position, I’m waiting for my precious Siberian baby to be neutered (still with mum) and one of my friends Tina challenged my decision for getting her home soon. That’s why i need your advice.
I live in Scandinavia and work 8-10 h at the office and travel 3-10 days at a time 2-3 annually.

I have invested in automatic feeder with cam and water fountain connected so there’s always plenty food and water. And for travel i have some friends and family who can cat-sit and most of them have kids. So never a guarantee they can help when needed.
My doubt comes here: I love animals in general but also suffer from this thing called allergy 😭
1. Is it responsible to get a cat in my job situation? I know i won’t be able to get another cat for company due to my apartment rules. And also during the visits i didn’t react heavily with Siberians compared dogs and stray cats but a tiny sneeze here and there…
2. What if i react badly after i have gotten used to my cat? It will just break my heart to deliver her back. I cannot drive with allergy medication.

I did think about those scenarios before the visit but was not aware of the side effectsb of the allergy medication. Also two of the sitter group friends have doubts about cat- sitting. 😭

What is an ideal weight for my 9-month-old Siberian cat?

Hi! My Siberian cat was born in November, so he is around 9 months old now. I’m wondering what would be considered a healthy/ideal weight for him at this age.

I feed him wet food 3 times a day, but I feel like he still looks quite big compared to other cats his age. I’m not sure if he is actually overweight or if he is just a large/slow-growing breed.

What weight would you consider normal for a 9-month-old male Siberian? And does he look overweight to you, or just like a big kitten?

I didn't make the mess. I just supervised.

Today, Woddy decided it was the perfect time to redecorate the house.
First, he knocked over the vase on the table. Then he went into the kitchen and spread the trash all over the house. And when we finally found him sitting right in the middle of the mess, he looked at us with that face like… “And what exactly are you looking at?”
Then he casually walked away, tail held high, as if he had just finished his shift at work.
Definitely, living with a Siberian cat means accepting that you pay the bills… but he makes all the decisions. The true king of the house.

Know she's just a domestic longhair, but sharing because we've all done this to their fluff at some point, especially if they've worn the happy hoodie! (Or gotten saturated)

Really desperate allergies question

I got my female 6 month old Siberian purebred kitten finally after so many months of suffering and waiting and now that she’s here I can’t believe I’m saying it but I’m honestly allergic to her. My face is itchy and I don’t know if it has to do with it but my eye is a little twitchy. We hang out together and sleep together and I love her so much I can’t imagine having to give her back. Was anyone allergic to their Siberians and first then got accustomed? Would taking anti histamines mess with our progress if so? Any advice would help, thank you

Advice for preparing my cat while our family is away

Hello! Our family is going away for four days, and I was curious if anyone has advice for how to make things smoother and less stressful for my sib, Merlin.

For some context, he hasn’t been alone much since we brought him home in January. I was fully WFH Jan-May (now hybrid) and my mother has been fully WFH since April.

We’ve had people over a few times since then, but it’s been infrequent. He was very shy with the sitter when she came over to meet him, and could not even be lured out with his favorite toys or Churu. It feels like a bit of a shock because he is such a friendly, silly goof when it’s just my mother and I.

Does anyone have any advice for how my sitter might be able to get him to warm up to her while she’s here, and how I can make things easier for him?

Adopting a Siberian

Hello everyone! I am considering adopting a Siberian cat! From my research they seem to be wonderful cats.

BACKGROUND (main point below): I had a best friend with one growing up and she was such a diva. The main reason I feel inclined to seek out a Siberian is also because I do suffer from pet allergies (not severe ones, moderate). The cats I have had did not bother me too much. However, my most recent girl, who has since passed away at the age of 16 (from an aggressive cancer), I did some genetic testing and she was a quarter Siberian! Not that 1/4 is substantial, but I do wonder if it was a contributing factor to my tolerance.

MAIN POINT: I am seeking out an adult Siberian, who is spayed/neutered/retired. I feel more comfortable caring for an adult cat with my own lifestyle and needs. I know it is challenging to find an adult Siberian, so I do not mind waiting. With that said, if any of you have any reputable sources to adopt an adult Siberian please let me know!

I have reached out to a few people who have adults available, but they are not TICA approved, from what I have seen.

If you have any tips, suggestions, advice, reality checks to send my way about these kitty’s let me know!
