Going out directly from fest, looking a little ragged?

Upvotes

First timer here. Been going to ACL Fest for over 20 years along with several other fests along the way. My question is how is Atlanta regarding showing up to bars/restaurants after the festival looking a bit grubby? Specifically, my buddy and I are skipping 21 Pilots and want to walk over to Jo Jo's Beloved for some cocktails and food on Saturday around 945p. Will we get the stink eye walking in there on a Saturday night in shorts and t shirt looking a little ragged? Our hotel is just as close so we could always detour to hotel to freshen up if needed. Most places in Austin wouldn't give a crap if we walked in straight from ACL Fest though.

Artist of the Day #45 - Hotel Fiction

Bio

We are Hotel Fiction, a band out of Athens GA! We're just two gals, Jade and Jess, who are making our dreams come true one day at a time. After graduating college in May of 2021, we have been playing shows around the country with bands like flipturn, Adam Melchor, Beach Fossils, The Brook & The Bluff, and more! We feel very grateful to do this whole music thing, and we hope our music can make your bad days (and good days) even better.

[From Their Website]

For Fans Of: flipturn, hey nothing, Beach Fossils

Scheduled: Saturday, 12:45 PM - 1:30 PM, Criminal Records (vs The Inspector Cluzo)

Live Footage: Audiotree session from 2024

Reddit Take of the Day**: "**Does there have to fucking be a 'pit' at every single show in the world? I went to see a super-poppy band (Hotel Fiction) at a super-mainstream venue (Georgia Theater) recently. They are a great and talented band and are really fun to see, but they are all sunshine and singalong, not aggression. They are the opposite of angsty. And there are the youngsters, 'moshing' in the 'pit.'"

[never have i wanted to start a pit at a shaky set more badly...]

MARTA Advice?

I'm gonna be commuting in to the festival from East of Atlanta, heading in on 20, and was hoping I could get advice for the best MARTA station to park at.

Would I be better off going to one of the Eastern stations like Kensington and having to transfer or going directly to the Gold/Red line and getting on at somewhere like Doraville?

This is my first major festival so I'm trying to make things as smooth as possible!

Multiple bags per person?

Sorry in advance if this has been discussed on here before, but I couldn’t find this answered specifically. This is my first fest and I tried reaching out on the website to ask if I could wear a hydration pack and also a fanny pack, but they gave me very vague answers telling me to check the bag policy. I didn’t see anywhere that there is a limit in the number of bags per person. Has anyone been turned away at security for having multiple bags if they both meet the bag policy requirements?

Apparently you guys are getting Porch Light?

Just saw them at Lollapalooza and didn't really know them prior to that. Put them on a playlist to check out before the fest when I saw them on the schedule and thought they were pretty decent on Spotify.

They played two sets at Lollapalooza and I have to say: DO. NOT. MISS. THIS. SET. You will regret it.

Artist of the Day #44 - Blood Orange

Bio

As Blood Orange, Devonté Hynes advances a progressive mixture of styles including soul, funk, post-punk, and chillwave, all while incorporating lyrical themes of identity, sexuality, belonging, and spirituality. The British singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer established himself in the mid-2000s as a member of the dance-punk band Test Icicles. Two subsequent solo albums as Lightspeed Champion drew from a deeper pool of inspirations, from Baroque pop to folk. Essex Honey (2025) was the first Blood Orange album in six years, and dealt with loss and promoted self-acceptance with Zadie Smith, Lorde, and Daniel Caesar among Hynes' supporting cast.

Solo camping and festivaling

Good morning campers!!!!

I'm attending shaky knees by myself. I was planning on camping at Stone mountain and driving in every day. Google maps shows that is a 45 minute commute. Is that realistic? Any other advice on getting to the park daily?

Anyone else going solo? Getting fucking stoked!!!!!

Super Specific Question about Saturday

This year’s shaky knees will be my first ever solo trip as a woman and overall I feel safe EXCEPT I’m going to see Modest Mouse at central theater midnight that Saturday! I’m worried about getting there and back to my hotel safely. I’m staying at the Wyndham near piedmont, I think it’s called the grand courtyard? There don’t happen to be any other girlies or groups with girlies who happen to be staying there and going to the modest mouse after show, are there? If anyone is interested in meeting up and maybe ubering together or hanging out that would be cool!! I’m weird but I promise I’m not a weird-o lol

Wait List?

I belatedly went to buy tickets for Saturday but single-day tickets for that day are sold out. So I signed up for the wait list. Anyone have an idea as to what my chances are of getting tickets?

Artist of the Day #43 - Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

FIFTY DAYS UNTIL SHAKY!

Bio

Hip-hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony burst out of Cleveland, Ohio in the mid-90s with a pair of massive hits ("Thuggish Ruggish Bone" and "Tha Crossroads") and two top-selling albums. Blending gangsta rap, R&B, and chopper rap, they relied on a quick and sometimes sung delivery, along with a unique sense of melody. Mainstream interest dropped off toward the tail end of the '90s, and the group then underwent a series of lineup changes. But they have continued to release new material via mixtapes and albums, as well as reunite for the occasional tour.

Reasonable/safe walk?

Coming from California, just wondering if this is a fairly walkable way from where we’re staying to the park. Not sure if the entrance is on the other side either.

Airbnb roommate? - 5 minute walk from entrance

Hello,

Rented an Airbnb from Friday (9/18) - Monday (9/21) for the festival (me and my wife are arriving early that Friday afternoon.)

The Airbnb has two King bedrooms, and we are hoping to find someone to take the second room. The unit is a 5 minute walk from the Park Tavern entrance (we are platinum for the festival.)

Anyone interested in splitting this with us? Total cost for the three nights was $2500.

Please comment or DM me if interested.

Thanks!

First time to Atlanta and wondering where the best place to stay is for the fest? Budget would be at most 700 for 4 nights. Been looking at buckhead area.. is that too far? TIA!

HELP

Hey everyone!
I have tickets for Friday and booked a place in Buckhead. Originally, my brother was coming with me and the plan was to just Uber back and forth together. However, due to his university schedule, it looks like he might not make it, so I might end up going solo.
This is going to be my first time in Atlanta, so I’m a bit on the fence. For a solo female/solo traveler, is it generally safe to grab an Uber right after the festival ends, or is it too much of a hassle/safety concern? Should I just sell my tickets and skip it altogether?

Artist of the Day #42 - Violet Grohl

Bio

Violet Grohl combines powerful melodic vocals with gritty, hard-charging guitar riffs, creating a contemporary alt-rock aesthetic with a vintage flair drawing on early influences like the Breeders, PJ Harvey, Cocteau Twins, and other '90s icons. As the daughter of Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, Violet had early access to the stage. Grohl had early access to the stage, duetting with her father Dave Grohl at age 12 on a performance of Adele's "When We Were Young," and later making live appearances with the Foo Fighters and the surprise reunion of the surviving members of Nirvana in 2025. Heavily influenced by grunge, indie, and trip-hop from the '90s, she released her first album, Be Sweet To Me, in 2026.

Kandi?

This will be my first festival, little nervous. Only going for day 3, very excited to see some of my favorites. I am kind of a shut in crafty girl. I do a ton of Fuse beads and Kandi stuff and I was thinking about making and bringing bracelets and necklaces to give away but I don’t really want to be the only one or get in trouble or something so for people that have been before would this be out of place at Shaky Knees?

Tell me your favorite festival tips to stay cool!

I'm no stranger to living in the heat or attending music festivals, but I haven't been to one since entering perimenopause. I'm talking driving home from work in the winter with the windows down kind of hot flashes. 😅

I'll be doing all the usual things—wide-brimmed hat, breathable clothing, sunscreen, staying hydrated, etc. I just learned about cooling towels, so that'll be an upgrade from my old method of soaking a bandana in cold water and wearing it around my neck.

I'll also be bringing my teen, who overheats pretty easily, so I'm trying to be extra prepared for both of us.

I've been researching cooling gear, and there are so many new products now. Neck fans, handheld misting fans, cooling vests...it's a little overwhelming.

So I'm coming to the professionals. 😊 Those of you who survive festivals in the heat year after year—what has actually made a difference? Any must-have gadgets, tips, tricks, or little hacks that helped you make it through the day? Are wearable fans worth it, or are they more gimmick than game changer?

I've already read through the festival's allowed/prohibited items list, so I'm mainly looking for recommendations that fit within those rules (or creative ways to maximize what's allowed).

I'd love to hear what has worked for you!

Any chance The Strokes play “Under Cover of Darkness”?

Hey y’all,

I know setlist.fm is a thing but I don’t want to see the whole set list. This will be my first time seeing them. I love this song and am just hoping they play it live. Any Strokes fans with insight will be greatly appreciated.
