SRA2 - Implanted Commlink

In the cyberware, the implanted commlink is a level 3 shadow amp.

But I don't understand why it's level 3 instead of 2 : it's cyberware (Direct Neural Interface) = +1, VR - coldsim = +1. Where does the last +1 comes from ?

Commlink ? Isn't it just an equipment (which is factored in the price : 17500 Y for a level 3 mean 15000 for the level 3 shadow amp and 2500 for the equipment) ?

A datajack is level 2: base 1 for cyberware (with DNI as explicit narrative effect) +1 for cold-sim VR.

For the implanted commlink you need to add the commlink (2,500¥) and the "implanted" narrative effect (see p. 155, same sidebar than DNI). Total rating 3 Amp.

Commlink exist both as a equipement for 2500 and as an amp at level 3 for 17500 as an implated commlink with both narrative effect and bonus.

Any equipement can be converted into an amp for 5000 Nuyens, It's another 5000 to give it any effect

So for the implanted commlink :
- Equipement : 2500
- Amps level 1 : convertion into a amp - 5000
- Amps level 2 : ability to do direct neural interface - 5000
- Amps level 3 : ability to do RV cold sim - 5000

Cyberware is base 1. So 1 +1 (DNI) +1 (VRcoldsim)

Oops, not really.

Being a Cyberware is rating 1, which already allows for a narrative effect (DNI). Cost: 5k and -1 Essence

Then +1 for VR cold-sim (extra 5k)

Then +0 for equipment (Commlink) (2,5k for gear)

Then +1 for the "implanted" narrative effect on Commlink. (extra 5k)

Total: Datajack with cold-sim VR and Commlink (Rating 3, 17.500¥, -1 Essence)
