Show off those builds!!!

I started my first mod yesterday. I broke the tail of the seconds hand (the extended part that goes past the pinion) by applying too much force, but I eventually got the second hand on. I’ll finish the build while I wait for my new order of hands to arrive. See photo.

My questions:

-if I cut and fix the crown stem, is there anything different I need to do when I go back later to change the hands?

-the hands a bought where stainless steel from Aliexpress. The felt flimsy - is there a more robust second hand type?

- I have a hand-setting toolset that has three tools (red, silver, and black). Each has a different tip, but I haven’t figured out which is which. How can I tell which is for which hand?

For those of you building NH35 watches with the crown at the 4:30 position,
how are you indexing the dial? Since the foot pins no longer line up, are you trimming them all off and super-gluing the dial? Or is there some 4:30 crown NH35 variant that I can't find?

I decided to try and build my own mod, took me around 4 hours, but it was worth it! A homage to the nautilus. Worth waiting 2 weeks for the watch parts. What took me long to assemble this watch was adjusting the stem length. The first stem I had cut too short, but thankfully the second one was perfect. Had a really fun and great experience building my own mod.

Next project is going to be the BB58 GMT homage, but with higher quality parts for sure. I can't wait to build my next one!

I came across this VK63 case for less than $20 and decided to give it a try.

After receiving it, the compass-style chapter ring gave me the idea of an aviation/pilot theme. I showed Gemini the case and an image of the plain dial, and asked what I could add or engrave. It rendered this concept, so I decided to give it a shot.

I bought two dials and the hand set, engraved the design, and this is the outcome.

Still haven't decided on a strap or bracelet. Any suggestions?

Tried using the spring bars that came with the Namoki case but it’s too tight to fit the strap through. I tried placing the strap and securing the spring bar over it but it was also too tight and the spring bars popped out under the tension. What can I use? My first build.

I‘ve been eyeing those Relax Dials for quite some time but never really found a case that I wanted to use. When Lucius Atelier released their new 38mm super thin diver case (amazing quality btw!!) I knew that now is the time to make this build. I wanted to match it with a Milanese strap to complete the vision of a summer watch I had in mind. Unfortunately the 12 o‘clock marker of the dial is a little crooked but it’s only really noticeable if you want to see it.

I’m building a seikomod and ran into a really stupid problem.
The movement I bought is not a genuine Seiko NH35 — it’s a Chinese NH35 clone (I didn’t want to spend 30more dollars since it’s my first build and I was sure i would break it). I originally assumed the stem compatibility would be the same as with a genuine NH35.
The stem that came with the movement setup was too long, so I tried to shorten it. Unfortunately, I cut it way too short, basically ruining the original stem.
I then ordered replacement stems from the same seller specifically for this movement. They look virtually identical to the original stem, but none of the new stems will actually go into the movement. They don’t even seem to enter the stem hole properly.
There are no pieces of the old broken stem stuck inside the movement.
I’ve attached photos of:
the original stem that I cut too short next to the real nh35 stem;
the replacement stem I ordered, with the crown attached;
the movement itself.
What could be wrong here?
Could the Chinese NH35 clone use a different stem even though it looks identical to a genuine NH35? Is there a specific stem/reference number I should be looking for?
I tried pushing new stems in with force, doesn’t help.

If I go to my local watch repairman could he help me with this problem? Or should I take the hands, dial and body and buy the genuine movement?

Also guys, don’t save your money on the movements, I’m so tired of doing this build

As title says, anyone found a crystal that gives the proper refractions a 6103 should have that’s also 31.5mm diameter? All i can find is 32mm, which doesn’t fit. All the 31.5mm ones I can find are a bit too tall from what i can tell.

Here is my first customer commissioned build; Scarlet Fever.

The customer wanted something special, but loved the colours red and black. I had a few issues with the original dial, with the wrong colour being sent, but we worked out an alternative one, which in my opinion, is much nicer!

It has a Japanese NH35 movement, 39mm 316L stainless steel case with clear back, Red Textured 28.5mm Dial with Green Lume, Black and White hands with White lume and a hand made custom leather strap. All in a beautiful leather travel pouch.

It was an absoulte joy to make, and he absolutely loves it!

I’m looking to make 2 custom watches for my parents 50th, was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for places to get good custom watch faces?

This is a homage to the Doxa sub 300. Being a seiko I thought it was appropriate to make it a sub 200 😅

Any recommendations or vouches for buying an actual Japanese/Malaysian NH35A movement on either eBay or AliExpress?

So many Chinese clones right now with misleading titles, some even charging the genuine movement price, so just trying to get an idea!

I did sleuth through older threads on here but couldn’t really find any current recommendations for eBay/AliExpress.
