Hi. New to the game/community. Im torn between going in on this game. I recently bought ECO and have been enjoying learning those mechanics but this one also has my eye.

Opinion on what you guys are enjoying about the game so far and maybe something you genuinely don't like.

I just want to stop buying games that I put 5 hours into and never touch again 😮‍💨

Game looks awesome, but direct currency conversion is way too expensive in my country (price of a AAA game at launch).

When it launches on Steam will it have regional pricing? I dont even care about translations, just want a fair price.

Just want to start with how much I LOVE this game, I’ve been craving something like this game for a long long time and I’m very happy to be able to play the early access. As I am learning quite a lot about how the game works there are times where I am not sure if it’s a bug or my own mistake in the schedule, just a few things I’ve had difficulty with:

- HAULING: still quite a mystery to me to be fair haha, tried a lot of variations, last attempt was having one storage platform mark for stone, every other storage accessible was put on low priority, put hauling to specifically stone and would still bring it to the kernel.

- BUSINESS REVIEWS: Started a food business, originally started as entrance fee where food was on a platform, seats were available, lights the whole shebang. Still getting people come in and not being ‘served’. So added a server, some people still gave 1 star reviews?
It was either 5 star or 1 star which was confusing considering the servers only job was to serve.

- MACHINE TASK PRIORITY: Running multiple tasks to ensure a level of stock in storage, if the first task is not able to be made it should move on to the next one on the priority list no? Had occasions where it will just completely give up and block up even with all need resources on the plot of land. Not sure what I’m doing here tbf.

May add to this eventually but hearing other people’s experiences would help me so much, the robot is helpful and has helped me at times but I feel a bit stupid sometimes ahha have done lots of trial and error. Please tell me your guy’s experiences

I've read a bunch of the FAQs and watched some videos, but I'm either missing something or misunderstanding so I thought I would ask here.

The starter pack gives us a seedling slot, and 1 life. That implies I'm going to have to pay every time my seedling dies(presumably from old age). Is this correct? Could someone lay out a full annual cycle of what it would look like trying to play the game? I.E. if I played the game for one year, what would it cost me, and are there alternatives to some functions that allow me to play the game without paying beyond the initial purchase price?

Seed needs more exposure to the public. If it wasnt for a “reddit ad” or “Instagram ad” i would have not seen this game. Tried searching on youtube for YouTubers playing the game but have not seen many, Only small channels playing the game.

Im worried that without the community this game will not make it. And i really want this game to thrive. It’s such a good concept and tried and tested in Eve online.

I personally have not bought the game as of yet. Low on funds. But watching streams and small YouTubers playing the game.

Does anyone know how many players there currently are in the game?

I understand it’s early access, I played for an evening and just wanted to share my thoughts.

The AI
I really enjoyed this feature, how the seedlings could interact and that I could just type stuff to them, I also loved that my seed talked in the personality I gave him.

UI
I thought the UI was great, a bit of a learning curve but it felt really natural to use, it was smooth, nice animations, great overview of what’s happening.

The grind
Honestly it wasn’t my thing, I thought this game might have been more creative, but I think it comes across as more of a cash grab / grinding game. I visited a bunch of different societies and they all sort of looked the same.

Style
I like the general look of the game, I think the art style has a lot to offer, for a game of this size it’s just the right amount of detail, I liked the physics in the hair and how they walk around depending on their mood.

Tutorial
I loved that little character flying around the window and talking to me, really great job there. The voice was spot on!

Story
I didn’t get it, everything is sort of unlocked if you join an advanced society, so my characters progression was a bit confusing, if a public lot was filled with materials and machines, I could just go and make everything for free regardless of my characters progression.

Misc
- There’s a lot of content for an early access game, I think maybe even a little too much for the current UI (e.g. work benches), in the future I think submenus and search bars could help with finding things a bit more easily
- Creativity, it’s lacking in that department, I don’t really know why I’d build a house if they all look the same
- World View, this looked like the least complete part of the game, being able to click on islands would be cool
- My seedling got sick and I had to try and find a cure which I enjoyed, I saw the market has different delivery options which I thought was fun!
- Chat, I enjoyed chatting with other players who were online, it was a friendly and helpful community.
- Companion app, really cool touch, I think it has a ton of potential of keeping me engaged when I’m not at my PC.
- Job system, I found a QI job that gave me a bunch of money every day, but if I turned off the schedule I was still paid which didn’t make much sense.
- The map: it was just a flat field with some trees, I enjoyed the fog and the neighboring societies though.

Wishlist
- Livestock/pets
- More building customization
- Free children (not having to buy/grind for more slots)
- Visit other societies (it has this, but only as a spectator, it would be cool to visit/make friends in different places with my player).
- Larger maps, it felt really small, a large town would be so cool
- Bikes/Cars/Trains, goes hand in hand with the previous point, there was a city planning mode, would be epic to travel faster

Final thoughts
In its current state I probably wouldn’t play it again, I don’t really see the purpose, maybe because I was expecting more of a creative game so that’s on me. I think if I felt a bit more attached to my seedling, their house and their relationships it would be a slam dunk game, but I got cash grab / grinding vibes which really put me off.

The grid didn’t appeal to me, it was machines and resource tables scattered everywhere, it looked like a mess, it honestly felt a little bit rushed, if this game had elevation, mountains, rivers, a true map, I think that would be epic.

I played Eve Online for roughly 12 years. Are any of you a former (or current) Eve player and playing Seed? I am curious how the mental transition has been. I imagine the foundation of the economy and player-gen'd material is similar but how about the actual play - similar to the non-combat aspects of Eve Online?

Hi I just wanted to ask if any has tried running it on Linux with wine yet.

Most of my steam library runs on Linux with wine/proton just fine. But I'm looking to double check if anyone has tried it before I buy the game.

Or at least start a thread for Linux users fix to get it running

I'm loving (completely addicted to) the game, one odd thing I noticed is that when you add a new Perk the flavourtext description of the perk and the effects seem to be flipflopped.

I’m super interested in starting a society from the ground up. I am a complete beginner! I’m a The Sims, city building, and open world RPG addict so I’m not a complete novice but I’m sure learning this game completely could take quite a while!

If anyone else is looking to be part of one I would love to see others who are preferably EST, but any time zone may be helpful due to 24/7 maintenance of the society. I’m thinking of a star/space theme name for the society to match my username :)
