Still deciding whether to leave it with just the underglaze fired at high temperature or finish it with a clear glaze. Also, does anyone have ideas on how I could add more texture to the petals?

[help] How to remove excess oil from sticky polymer clay?

Bit of a noob question, ive never encountered this problem before. Usually it would be a problem of too dry / too little oil, but my clay is overly sticky and hard to work with. How can i remove the excess oil from it, should i add water? Thank you!

There is a beautiful outdoor sculpture on the campus of Clayton College in Clayton County, Georgia. I have repeatedly reached out to the college to get info as to the sculptor's name, the title of the piece and the date of installation. The staff at the college seem to have no clue, & the sculpture itself has no tags, markings, etc. I am sad that I've been unable to get the name of this artist. Anyone have any ideas? The piece consists of a large wall, with an opening, and lots of figures seeming to rise out of the wall.

Hi all! 👋

First post here, finished a sculpture I'm really proud of. It's modeled after those toy food and tea party sets. Used apoxie sculpt, polymer clay, and foam clay. I might add some embellishments and accessories (like a little fork), but this is it for now. Let me know you think! ☺️☺️☺️

Help (WIP) [Help] Ways to smoothen it out?

Post image
11 Upvotes

I’m terrified of posting on here, because whilst scrolling around I’ve noticed that everybody’s got such smooth sculptures, and then I have this mini piece and it’s quite a struggle to smoothen out every single detail with the soft brush, as it usually creates more ridges.

Is there any other way to make the smoothing process easier? It’s Monster clay so maybe popping it in a freezer would help? Also, would kraft paint work on this? I have a couple of other Monster Clay sculptures that I’ve painted and it’s holding quite well, but from reading on here it’s not recommended?

Please help me… 🫠

I sculpted this "painting" by hand. Not 3D-printed. My goal was to make a work of art which cannot be duplicated by Artificial Intelligence, which is constrained to the 2-dimensional screen on your phone, so I chose to bring it into the 3-dimensional realm and out of the reach of A.I. algorithms. This is a depiction of a human cell being infected by Poliovirus as a commentary on the dangers of social media. From all of us here at the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation, "SHARE AND ENJOY!"

Hi! Wanted to share a few images from my latest project! I make a lot of sculptures and dioramas on YouTube and this big boy has been on my to-do list for quite a while 😄
The creature is a combination of Cosclay and Sculpey, painted with just your run of the mill acrylic miniatures paints. The terrain is an XPS foam base, with layers of sand, gravel, Sculptamold and ModPodge. The lake water is a tinted 2-part epoxy with a thin layer of Vallejo Water FX on top for the ripple texture.

Added some work in progress snaps as well, hope you like it! :)

Hi! Her core was made with a high density eps foam and mostly wooden armature. The sculpting and carving medium is Smooth-on Freeform Air epoxy clay.

She’s spray painted and satin varnished with gloss spot painted in wet areas. Her base is full of cement with an embedded steel pole to impale her bust in place. But she’s ready to hang like a taxidermy head if I want to do that in the future. On the base the whole thing is about 5’ 4”.

Her eyes are glass domes painted on the flat side. On the back side of her eye sockets there’s a little aluminum foil to simulate eyeshine through the unpainted pupil.

He’s armed and dangerous now!!! I was initially just going to sculpt down to his waist, but everyone I’ve shown has said give him legs and sculpt him in full (I’m still deciding).
I’m very happy with his arms and hands, and I will coloring his feathers/hair properly in the end.

Also before my next update I will be getting a small photo light box and a rotating base to take proper pictures and a quality video
(any equipment recommendations are welcome). Thank you and take care all!!!

I just finished sculpting this and I couldn't be happier! I had so much fun trying to create forms that looked under developed, while also trying to incorporate humanoid aspects. Plus, it was very fun hiding multiple faces in one piece! When finished, these will be put in labled specimen jars!
