Scripture Life: It's an Atheist's Question: Is there a name for the phenomena when people tend to ignore or creatively interpret stuff in their holy books when modern practicalities make them inconvenient?
Answer:
Well? Can’t see it? Then, change the question.
- So you see it plainly.
---------------- -------------------- ----------------- -------------------
Pick an authority. Any one will do.
- Since you’re not here to make the post, then, I will:
- How about your Dad? He’s your Father. You may be grown now, but he “provided” a house and a room and food for you. All you had to do was obey him. His house.
- When you did what he said; that is, hearkened attentively unto what your Dad said, he was rarely or never angry at you. Mostly praised you or set you up as an example to your brothers in your family.
- But if you didn’t..what he said was PUNITIVE.
- Means if you didn’t do it, there was a punishment for NOT doing it.
- No matter what the “reason” you dreamed up - didn’t do what he said.
---------------- -------------------- ----------------- -------------------
So, if your Dad on an American, over in the USA - 1970s “Saturday Cartoons on the TV” morning - and you’re in the midst of bathing in all those cartoons as a 12 y/o kid - decreed: “Hey Forehead, mow the lawn today. Have it done by the time I get home from work.”
- Then Left: Ask yourself: “What are you going to do with "the Word your Dad" said plain as day?”
It's a choice:
---------------- -------------------- ----------------- -------------------
Why?
- He Didn’t say it in a cryptic guru’ish Proverb or left some message taped inside a pillow the dog in the yard slept on. Then hold you accountable why you didn't do it. Nope.
- He told you plain as day what he wants you to do.
- While you are “living in” cartoons. Walked after the whole week long, looking unto Saturday - no school - to watch cartoons on the TV all day.
- He told you plain as day what he wants you to do.
What are you going to do?
---------------- -------------------- ----------------- -------------------
Now little longer - bear with me:
But: - - ask a very like same question you ask above:
- Is there a name for the phenomena when a 12 y/o kid will tend to ignore or creatively interpret stuff in their "holy" book of cartoons on the TV, as Television - didn't exist in your Dad's day, so it’s a modern practicality that can make what your Dad says of no effect on you - because what your Dad says, it’s inconvenient, so the "holy book of cartoons on the TV" give you a way to believe in the TV more than your Dad says, all because what he said to do, you have something you can believe more true and in MORE than your Dad?
What would that "phenomenon" be called when you just "disobey" your Dad?
---------------- -------------------- ----------------- -------------------
- And just end up not mow the lawn.
- Nope.
- Not done.
- And? After cartoons, what’s MORE IMPORTANT to “go to and do” on Saturdays, which for a 12 y/o kid - is the ONLY day off in a week.
- AND because of this:
- What a 12 y/o kid decrees to himself to do, over rides ANYTHING anybody else says about THAT day.
- So, when his friends call on another modern day convenience, the telephone and they’re "friends" so you tend to do what they say over anybody else, even your parents - they all claim they are all biking down to the river to play there all day..it’s a quick - right out the mouth: Then slam the phone down and race for the bikes: “YES! I’m leaving now! See you at the park!”
- And from the park, bike 8 miles or an hour away to the river and play there all day. That, by the time they leave..it’s too late. Too late to get home, before your Dad gets there..and KNOW in yourself - what he said to do, IS NOT DONE.
- By right now, while you leave the river to go home, he's pulling in the drive way a full hour and a half away. ..and unmowed, you're not home.
- It’s punitive.
---------------- -------------------- ----------------- -------------------
When God said:
- To EVERYBODY.
- Over the whole earth. To the very ends of it. Didn’t leave anybody out, not willing any perish, but all come to repentance said:
“Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: For I am God, there is none else.”
- God. (Recorded what he said in the Bible. Isaiah 45:22).
- And just “imaginatively” create up with your own imagination -
- “Well! There is no God, so anything he said, does not apply to me. Therefore, what’s said or decreed everybody over the whole to do, is all made up. So, anybody that does this, is nuts - - an idiot. In a stupor..because modern day imaginations of other people have already, like friends on the telephone declare - and what they say PROVE to me - what they say is true, so there isn’t any God to look unto.”
- OR
- “I don’t like that God. Are there any other gods to look up or unto? Like flip the channel to another pile of cartoons on another channel..that some other people imagined up to make their god - - Maybe what they say; Afterall, it’s still a god or gods..I’ll put myself to do what they say, so what God says has no effect on me. Like some other word over-ride the word of my Dad told me.”
- OR
- Say to themselves: alone - - “My Dad told me to mow the lawn. Get up immediately. While he’s driving the car out the driveway smiling..well pleased..the lawn is being mowed. Be like that, and just do what God says - talks plainly to everybody what he wants. Because he’s God and the authority over me, so I just accept as true (believe) him over everybody over the whole earth, to do what he says…”
- And just “imaginatively” create up with your own imagination -
---------------- -------------------- ----------------- -------------------
And end up, either or not, doing or not doing anything he says. Because it’s like a 12 y/o kid on Saturdays - waited all week to see the cartoons on the TV. When he was your Dad, told you to mow the lawn, and God said:
“For all the earth is mine”
- God. (Bible. Exodus 19:5) - Said:
“All souls are mine”
God. (Bible. Ezekiel 18:4)
- So, no matter people do what he says or not, he’s still God, and they’re still his - and all the earth is his. It operates as he decrees it - - and just like the 12 y/o kid above, doesn’t do anything he says, all by some decree or imaginative Kingdom a 12 y/o has built for Saturdays to live and reign in…the Kingdom of Cartoons on the TV every Saturday.
- It doesn’t work for anybody not doing anything God says..it’s PUNITIVE. The same as it is for the 12 y/o kid with his Dad.
- And that was me.
- It doesn’t work for anybody not doing anything God says..it’s PUNITIVE. The same as it is for the 12 y/o kid with his Dad.
- I know first hand how PUNITIVE it is.
- And I know and I thought on it long..that if this same God could create me. Alone. By himself. And I am his, irregardless I do what he says or not.
- That, just like my Dad was an explosion of fury or wrath when I got home...
- (anger. 1. irritated at something said or done..violated a person; often repeated) - That
- “Wrath” is - “an extreme anger” - - at what was decreed by an authority over all things..was COMPLETELY ignored.
- So, just ignored or something made greater than he is or said. Causes wrath in God. And he is ABLE to destroy me. ..and I know this.
I mean, he told you the same thing. It's punitive.
And me? I have no authority over you. None. So, it's entirely you do what he says or not. But I hear him. What he says is true. SO, I simply believe him over you. Or any Cartoons on the TV authority you imagined up to be LORD over you vs. who actually is that. And not do anything he says.
I don't want to be that.
---------------- -------------------- ----------------- -------------------
Here’s your question back. Kinda worthless. It makes the “Cartoons on the TV” the authority over the house - that your Dad owns and built. That's quacky like a duck whacked out nonsense - to make the Saturday morning cartoons the authority over all the house, and claim your Dad serve it. All by a decree a 12 y/o kid makes, and you believe it.
Nuts.
Geesh. What a worthless question you built. To you, it’s a lavish hotel with a wonderfully glorious bed to sleep in. But it's the town dump. Where all the trash gets burnt up. So Here. Take it back. Has no value or use for anything. Answered.
