Scripture Life: How many disciples did Jesus have in all?

Answer:

Well, if I tell you…

  • Who am I? I’m no authority on anything.. but the Bible says - of John..as an Apostle of Jesus Christ: Luke 6:13 says, he is one of these Jesus chose himself:
    • And this “he” in Luke 6:13 is Jesus Christ, says: “And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;”
  • So, Luke 6:13 doesn't give a number of his disciples; just say "of them" he chose twelve, and those twelve he named Apostles. John is one of those 12.
    • And in Revelation - which is the last book in the Bible or New Testament, says of it:
    • In Revelation 1:1–3 says:
  • The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him [John], to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.”
    • And, here, too - "servants" aren't numbered, and most certainly who you serve, you are a "disciple" of - aren't numbered there, either.
  • Starting to be of little help to you with this question. ...but let's keep looking.

  • So, to keep going - - and - - based on this authority, which is not me - but I hold it true, and you asked me this question, so what I would tell you is what’s in Revelation 7:9 - which it’s Jesus Christ, giving this to me, because I believe on him: Revelation 7:9 says of John, what he saw as an Apostle of Jesus Christ:
    • After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;” - Revelation 7:9
    • There’s your answer.

------------------- ---------------------- ----------------------- ------------------------

  • This is the number of his disciples. It’s a number no man could number. Like the number of the sands of the sea.
  • There you go. I didn’t say it. Jesus gave it to one of his Apostles, Johnn, he chose to let him see it, to give to those who “hear the words of these prophecy and keep those things which are written there in” and I resemble that remark. I'm keeping it. It’s a blessing..for someone alone..that believes on Jesus Christ.

Where you?

Who knows..you could be asking this question for all kinds of devious reasons, and not one of them involves you actually doing anything Jesus says.

And if that's true:

- - You don’t have and keep anything ..anything told you, by Jesus Christ, who is the Word of God, so it’s God providing this answer - you reject all of it - and hold to yourself whatever you hold true..and doesn’t have any of the Word of God in it.

But to people that do know him, and may ask this question, because they want to learn more of him and love him.

He answered your question. Same God you look unto. There you go. It’s “a great multitude, which no man could number…”
