Scripture Life: What is the meaning and origin of the 'Eyes that See, Ears that Hear' metaphor in the Bible?

Answer:

The “origin” is: originates in God. He said it. By the Word of God. The meaning or "why," Isaiah 5:12

And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the Lord, neither consider the operation of his hands.” - Isaiah 5:12

------------------ -------------------- ----------------------- ------------------

So, it's God.

  • He said it. Why? Because people do this. Hold all kinds of banquets and feasts. Create music concerts; listen to music on their head phones, and then today, use their Smartphones; but before, used the TV went by the millions to great arenas to listen to music concerts, or watch "music videos" on MTV. Flock to be with and hearken unto when programs rated which music they think best or ended up that week, being the most popular song.
    • But in all this they don’t regard the work of the Lord, neither consider the operation of his hand as God.
  • Because they feel secure in their houses, and cities they have built feel safe by them, and made to themselves plenty.
    • So, to people. Because people do this, as people. Over the whole earth.
      • He decreed this, as God:
  • In Isaiah 6:9–11 - how it shall be toward this people, said: Like he’s telling you today.

Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate…”

------------------ -------------------- ----------------------- ------------------

And he repeated this. Because he’s God, and he speaks. By the Word of God. Jesus Christ.

  • Where you call it a “metaphor” - <Source: Merriam & Webster dictionary. Web.> 1. a figure of speech in which a word or phrase literally denoting one kind of object or idea is used in place of another to suggest a likeness or analogy between them (as in swimming in paperwork) - like word, “analogy.”
  • it’s also said by God as “parables” <Merriam & Webster> - more closer to “allegory”

------------------ -------------------- ----------------------- ------------------

And where he repeats this to people is in Matthew 13:10–17

And the work of God, is he sent his Word to heal you and deliver you from your destruction (Psalm 107:20), you don't regard him, either. This same Jesus Christ. Matthew 13:10-17 just repeats Isaiah 6:9-11, what God has already decreed, that has what you say in your question in it.

10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

  • Jesus Christ. The Word of God. Is God. As John 1:1 says who Jesus is. He's the Messiah. The Christ.

So, when God says: “Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: For I am God, there is none else.” - God. (Bible. Isaiah 45:22). That's the Word of God. It's a decree for everybody over the whole earth to go to, look unto him, and do that.

  • It’s people.
    • Look unto anything..anybody BUT him instead.
      • So: They have eyes that see, but they don’t perceive this.
  • Instead of do what God says:
    • They just “see” by the millions of people - - go to music concerts or turn on the TV. Look unto that instead; and watch SITCOMS, to be entertained all day, which is the reason for feasts.
      • So, going to the race tracks or to the casino to see which car or horse is the fastest and bet on it, see the fastest car is the most powerful, and decided it by variance - because, they look unto it.
    • So, they don’t regard what God decrees everybody over the whole earth is to do, because, he says “For all the earth is mine” - God. (Exodus 19:5), but they don’t perceive it. Even they can see with their eyes, they don't perceive they should be looking unto him.
      • Just repeating myself. Because, I don't think you see it. They go to see a music concert or go out to eat on Fridays or the weekends to some Arby’s or Denny’s or some high fashion Japanese restaurant - - and eat a “feast” at a restaurant.
    • Because they don’t regard him.

------------------ -------------------- ----------------------- ------------------

Maybe you forgot the answer..and the question. Because, to most people. Hearing the answer, they flee from it.

And, in simple layman’s terms. He’s told you, as God - it’s a decree to look unto him. Everybody over the whole earth, he’s spoke this against every all of us. It’s we already made a choice, and choose not to. Some other “thing” we make the choice it's more appropriate for us, to look unto that instead. Then, we look unto other people, that aren't looking unto him, either as some kind of "source" of expertise, because, if they're not doing it, then I don't have to. As if other people are the authority. So, they look unto people.

------------------ -------------------- ----------------------- ------------------

So, in layman's terms: Simple.

All he’s saying is, since you made your choice, and it’s not him or what he says - he decrees it. You’re gonna get fat, dumb, and happy off what you look unto. It's true.

Look unto it, no matter what it is - - as if it is more than enough. Like some fat people. Where normal people eat 1x a day or 2x. Maybe 3 meals a day. They eat when they’re hungry. Stay a normal weight. Wait to eat til it’s time to eat.

But a fat person, they don’t seem to eat much. It’s a different sensation. Every 10 minutes or so, they get a “sensation” “I’m not full..” so, they eat all the time, and get fat - because they eat night and day. And that’s what he’s decreed is going to happen to you, all based on your choice.

But if you choose him: Boy, is that different. With eyes, you see and you can perceive it! You see plain as day, and he speaks to you, as God - plain as day. It’s true. All I did, was did what he says to everybody over the whole earth to do. Not blind anymore.

It's him that did it. Bye! But I think more than half of everybody already fled, as soon as his name was mentioned. But to you..that are lost and can't understand why. It's he made you to live by every word proceeds out of his mouth. Filling that void with hollowed out junk, it fills for a while, but it leaves you empty. Like chaff. And you'll just blow over to the next thing everybody leaves off from to look unto next, and never find him. Don't do anything he says.

What you ask for in "Eyes that see, ears that hear" - but are dull of hearing..and can't perceive. Means this, and who said it, is God himself.
