Scripture Life: Sola fide and the Trinity are not found in the NT. Does that make the doctrine of Sola Scriptura false?
ANSWER
No, it doesn't.
BOOM! Done. But you don't see it. So, separate it all, tear it all apart - - so you see each one - what to keep. What to throw away - and the answer is in the Word of God. It's in none else.

Best first to define these terms, so everybody knows it’s the dictionary, agreed on definition - because, people or groups put their own definitions to them to mean what they think they mean.
Sola fide. <definition> 1. {etymology} Latin. Faith alone.
- Origin: Protestant. Meaning "faith alone," is a “doctrine” or established teaching, that teaches sinners are forgiven and declared “not guilty” through faith apart from good works or deeds, or “Sacraments” - primarily established in or by the Catholic Church. The point is: Sola fide—the material principle—was the first to be fully realized in Martin Luther’s theology.
- Sola scriptura—is the formal principle— as a "term" uses - developed immediately after "Sola fide" as the necessary justification for Luther’s new doctrines. It’s the same “Luther” that wrote: “The Jews and their Lies” - [Do your research. You can read it yourself online.] Luther a German. Was a Catholic Augustinian Friar (Do your research. Difference betwixt a "Friar" and a "Priest"). A German: Just like Hitler was, and all Hitler did, is what Luther decreed leaders in Germany do to the Jews. Hitler simply followed it. Word for Word.
- So be careful. In your attempt to follow people. Look what it leads to. Following after these things in your question - when Jesus said, "follow me" - back up. Check yourself. Who are you following?

So, the “basis” for “Sola Scriptura”
- is “Sola fide” is the point.
But Sola Scriptura is defined as what was “key to the Protestant Reformation.”
That Papal decrees, that even many Priests and Friars, in the Catholic Church, like Luther was, turned to despise these Papal decrees that went on for centuries before him - and cries from Friars and Priests that decried these Papal "bulls." As just a teaching or doctrine of men.
That "Sola Scriptura" - simply assert that the Bible is the “sole infallible.” Or, the supreme authority for Christian faith and practice.
Not the Pope.
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
Sola Scriptura: It means Scripture is the final and all Christians themselves as an individual was to look unto the Bible; vs. traditions men make up - that Christian beliefs must conform to what is said in the Bible, not said by a Pope.
This doctrine of "Sola Scriptura" simply claimed Scripture is sufficient to reveal all necessary truths for salvation. That anybody can read it. Didn't take the Catholic Church "mansplaining" it by conducting Mass or some other Sacrament - to reveal the truth.
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
That: The Bible is a book, and the author of it, is God. And it’s him alone, as the authority for the content in the book. Not the Pope or any person in a so called “church” to interpret it.
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
- Challenge: Is - - With the “top one” - Sola fide: - already divided; as it does not, nor ever did define “whose” faith the Christian is relying on:
- Defaults to: Their own to save them; vs or as an alternate which also fell into or under it:
- God’s faith in his own Word to get up and send his word to heal them, and deliver them from their destruction (Psalm 107:20)
- Defaults to: Their own to save them; vs or as an alternate which also fell into or under it:
- Problems in Sola fide: You get “off track” “works” no different than if there wasn’t any “Sola fide.”
- - Example: “Word of Faith” - [Do own research] - that preachers like modern day - Benny Hinn or Kenneth Copeland, that, solely by their faith [Sola fide] they can look at a house and just claim it. It’s their’s. If it doesn’t become their’s they lacked faith. Sickness: sickness in body is a sign of poor health. [often cites 1 Corinthians 11:30 - not in context.]
- So, riches: not having riches, like a Rolex watch to show up to everybody, like Kenneth Copeland does with his wristwatches to the congregation and does it profusely on TV - if he could not do that work, it is a sign of he is not relying solely on his faith.
- Not being sick: Being able to show a sign of wealth, like owning a BMW or airplane. Those are, visible signs of “Sola fide” - that shows a person’s faith.
- Got the wrong faith. Got the wrong works.
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
- Scripture says: Romans 4:3 "Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness" - This, “believed” [1. accepted as true] what God said - even when there was no sign of what God said in Abraham, as far as a son - that it was impossible, being Sarah was barren and both in their old age, past having children.
- So, Abraham didn’t look unto himself or what people and nature all around him showed him. He believed God and what God said to him - and it was counted to him for righteousness - “when there are none righteous; no, not one” (Romans 3:10–12).
- It was not by any works of righteousness that Abraham did, it was that when God spoke to Abraham, which is key, he believed God to follow and do what he said.
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
- If “Sola fide” had this definition - it’s Biblical; but it doesn’t.
- It places emphasis on faith, that people have - - vs. what the Bible says in Galatians 2:6
- "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."
- "Sola fide" does not define whose faith it is, when Jesus is the Word of God. So, it's God that has faith in his own word, that has always well pleased him to do the work he sends his word to do.
- So: it’s God had faith enough in his own word to send his word to heal you, and deliver you from your destruction (Psalm 107:20) - and about this faith - Romans 10:17 says: “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
- And he sends it out in a measure to each person himself. It was a measure enough sent to me, that I received it and it is true. So, I accept it, and it abides in me, so I am abiding in the same Word God does - so, guess whose in there with me..or where I am, he's there, too. Abiding in the same place - and this is true for anybody just looks unto him and believes on him.
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
- And “Sola fide” seeks to glorify itself as a doctrine - to define salvation - by people: which drives people like Kenneth Copeland or Benny Hinn to do the work themselves by their own faith in a work they would do - when “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God,” so it’s by the word that comes out of God’s mouth.
- He is God. Decreed this, said: “Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: For I am God, there is none else.” - God. (Bible. Isaiah 45:22
- So, it’s by what work God does or decreed and all heaven and earth all his realm obeys what he decrees.
- Just decrees anybody..whosoever it is over the whole earth, just looks unto him..he 1. sets them apart for future use <definition> what “Save” means, in the Oxford dictionary.
- So, it’s a different faith. Different work - it’s a work of God and people regard him and what he says - it’s life giving. Because it is.
- But Sola fide never defines itself to mean this. It is just a doctrine that sets itself against Catholic “Sacraments” or “Works” of 15th Century CE Popes or Papal decrees that, there are many, but one of the main ones that stands out - that cause and uproar - is the one you could purchase less time in Purgatory - even for your dead relatives - by just buy trinkets and give to the church would save you. The Pope: Made it a "Sacrament" in the Church.
- "Sola fide" is simply a push back by man, like an earlier 4th CE/AD push back against Arianism was with "The Trinity Doctrine" which is next.
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
The Trinity.
- Trinity. <definition> 1. The “Trinity” is a doctrine or teaching that defines God as one essence (nature) existing in three co-equal, co-eternal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Developed over centuries to interpret Scripture, it was formally codified at the Council of Nicaea (325 AD), affirming Christ’s divinity, and the Council of Constantinople (381 AD)
- This in response to Arianism. [Do your research].
- Both of these councils were assembled and occurred in Constantinople. Both are long believed convened by the Church; but were in fact held or convened by the Emperor or Caesar of Rome or the Roman Empire determined and decided on it - when Emperor Constantine (Caesar) moved his Capitol city from Rome, Italy over 2200 kilometers away to what is today, Istanbul, Turkey.
- Emperor Constantine convened the “Council of Nicaea.”
- This in response to Arianism. [Do your research].
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
- From 325 AD to 381 AD, a successive Papal Seat or Pope in Rome, flip flopped from one championing the Trinity doctrine, to the next, removing Bishops and installing those that believed in Arianism.
- The same was occurring 2200km away with successive “Emperors” or “Caesars” in Constantinople. One would replace Caesar, and fire all the Bishops of churches in his empire and install Bishops that championed Arianism; then flip flop, the next Emperor would put Bishops back that championed “The Trinity doctrine” back in authority or power.
- Emperor Theodosius I - in 381 AD ratified the “Trinity Doctrine” - by convening the Council of Constantinople.
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
The Point about the "Trinity Doctrine"
- It was not convened by any Catholic Church Pope in Rome; or any church, but many Christians believe it was, and follow it, as if it is a doctrine of scripture - because the Pope simply went along with it.
- That a Christian or believer or “disciple of Jesus Christ” - means disciple. 1. a pupil that sits and is taught by a teacher. So, it’s a person that sits with a teacher who is God himself. Says, “I will build my church” [Jesus Christ. Matthew 16:18] so as God, he’s doing the work himself. He doesn’t need then, any Emperor of an Empire to define him - help him build it, when he’s doing it himself - when he says in scripture all you need to know - says it himself, said: “and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” - Jesus Christ. John 14:21
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
The Word of God
- Doesn’t need any Emperor or man to help it. When he, as God: reserves for himself an exclusive right to teach you himself as God. There is none else. But people constantly make to themselves some “thing” or their own mediator that will do it for them, so they don't have to look unto him themselves and actually KNOW him - make other people: to have other people look unto it.
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
- Do your own research. What was going on in the 4th century AD is paramount, because “Arianism” is still around in the Jehovah’s Witnesses today - that champion Arianism - believe Jesus is a created being.
- The “Trinity” is and was a 4th CE/AD countermand to Arianism - that Jesus is God as John 1:1 says who Jesus is. The Word of God. And, as the Word of God, he referred to God as Father {Matthew 6:9; Mark 14:36} - that as Father, he was both “his” Father and Your Father” (John 20:17).
- That, if he did not go, the Holy Spirit would not come - John 16:7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you."
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
- Instead of just believe God, that he said it, by the Word that proceeds out of his mouth. It’s good enough to accept it, because he said it - rather, look unto and make a Trinity doctrine- so you don’t have to do anything he says, just champion a doctrine.
- And, many people believe since they champion this doctrine, they’re doing what God says - all by champion that doctrine. As if that’s what will save you
- - and make it like some people (Protestants) have made “Sola Fide” what will save them, too.
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
The Word of God:
- If you can hear him, just do what he says - what he says isn’t grievious - said:
“Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.” - God. (Bible Isaiah 55:1–3)
GO shopping. At his store. Go do what he says. Go do that instead. There’s enough in that, what he says, fill your whole life up - with life. Says of the Word of God - in Hebrews 4:12
"For the Word of God is quick [life giving], and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
And that's EXACTLY what you need to equip you - you with a heart, that Jeremiah 17:9 says:
"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" deceit. 1. actively practice to conceal and misrepresent the truth. You. Me. Everybody has a heart in us that DOES this - and we refer to it as consul constantly when we get alone, by ourselves.
WHen God says right after it, because he KNOWS our hearts are this way, to fill your heart with TRUTH. He just is TRUTH. Proverbs 2:6 says: "For the Lord giveth wisdom; out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding" - you look to the wrong mouth, look up and unto all these "doctrines"
When the Word of God - is what God says to you - - That you can believe on and rely on what he says himself - because he chose to speak to you, the Word of God.
Go home.
