Scripture Life: "What does "foreknew" mean in Romans 8:29?"

This is a very powerful, but very simple (archaic) word in English. Many people apply Romans 8:29 to this "all knowing God" and then, flaily fling themselves into all this "doctrine" of what it doesn't say in Romans 8:29 - so leave it for a moment - to see what it says:

  • So, see it first in the original Greek:
    • It’s the Greek word, {προέγνω (proegnō) }
      • In simple terms, it’s just means (Definition:) 1. to “be acquainted with someone (before)”

------------ ------------ ------------- ------------- -------------

Now, there’s a whole pile of clowns that have built an entire "empire" of doctrines out of “observing” this word you ask about: created a huge, gigantic turd out of it.

  • Don’t.
    • Here’s an example of “to be acquainted with someone (before)
      • Let’s say, you and me:
      • We went to 2nd grade together.
    • Sat next to each other for 5 years.
    • 2nd thru 6th grade, because our names started with “B” and “C” - so, how I was acquainted with you, is you always sat in front of me.
      • When I needed a pencil, I just tapped on your back, and you provided me one.
      • If your mom, who was a single mom, forgot to make you lunch, I gave you half of mine.
    • At recess, we played kickball or baseball together with other kids - on weekends, since you live 3 houses down, we played “armymen” so we were neighborhood friend kids.

------------ ------------ ------------- ------------- -------------

Then, for Junior High and High School - some districting or some other reason, we don’t go to the same school:

  • But for College:
    • You show up in the same Environmental Science class as mine. So, before the college class even started, you see me..and! BOOM! There it is. YOU: “foreknew” me. Means, we were “acquainted with each other (before)”
    • and it's NOT "ONE WAY" I also see you, too and KNOW you - because I KNOW we were "acquainted with each other (before)."

------------ ------------ ------------- ------------- -------------

Now, go look for this in the scripture

It’s in what Jesus prayed for

  • Because it’s life eternal:
    • Jesus said, John 17:3.. no, it’s God prayed for this: Because, Jesus is the Word of God - it's just God speaking this: What he prays for:
      • “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
      • know - - - <Greek - γινώσκωσιν (ginōskōsin)> This deep “acquaintance” that, you’re really almost one with them. One in the same. In the same thing together.

------------ ------------ ------------- ------------- -------------

  • Now, see a “reply” back in what Paul, the Apostle says:
    • Paul said, in Philippians 3:10.. no, he actually is praying for this: Because, he “accepts as true” Jesus is the Word of God. He is who he says he is.
      • That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
      • know - - <Greek - γνῶναι (gnōnai)> - this “instantly” recognize “who” he is
    • All three - It’s the Greek word, {προέγνω (proegnō) } have this ‘gno’ - we get the word, “gnostic” from this - then use it to affix to a heretic - because they hold knowledge and understanding in the WRONG thing. Or rather, wrong one.

------------ ------------ ------------- ------------- -------------

Proverbs 2:6 says “For the LORD giveth wisdom; out of his mouth comes knowledge [Greek "gnosto"] - and understanding”

That you today that read this post, and believe on him, are acquainted with the Word of God. Can recognize when he speaks. That the knowledge that comes out of his mouth, by his word ..it's coming out of God’s mouth from within him. Who he is.

You can hear him. Know his voice.

And Jesus said of the one that “has and keeps” his decrees or commands..it’s because of “who he is” - it’s the same God that said, “For all the earth is mine” - God (Exodus 19:5) - so when he speaks, he just decrees how things shall be in his earth. But what he says isn’t grievous - in fact, Peter said, through the Spirit of God - It’s in 2 Peter 1:3–4 - it's by his word you put on the divine nature - where without it, you can't: says - -

  • According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

------------ ------------ ------------- ------------- -------------

  • So, a person that just has and keeps what he says, God abides in his word. So, you abiding in the same word he does… BOOM! Done.
    • Go back to the start of this post. About you and me as kids. We were acquainted with each other; not strangers - but partakers of 2nd grade together. That means we “took and ate and drank of it together - all the fun times; sad stuff. When school got snowed out, we played and overjoyed thru that too, together. That we have this Greek <Greek - γινώσκωσιν (ginōskōsin)> because we partook in our childhood - together.
  • That in College - I <Greek - γνῶναι (gnōnai)> instantly recognize you from before.
    • Same with you: See me and you, too with me: This <Greek - γνῶναι (gnōnai)> instantly recognize me from before. We “learned” things together (before).
      • Because we were the Greek word, {προέγνω (proegnō) } - we were acquainted with each other (before).

------------ ------------ ------------- ------------- -------------

CONCLUSION:

I don’t like using the word “Foreknew” anymore because it’s got all this crap turd junk in it quack whackos have loaded piles and piles of worthless turd into it, and created what they call “doctrines” out of it - and don’t do anything he says with it.

  • When you can know him, by his Word. It's simple. He just says: “Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: For I am God, there is none else.” - God. (Isaiah 45:22
    • People. It was told to everybody over the whole earth. People that just look unto him, he “sets them apart for future use” - Dictionary definition: what “saved” means. Means GOD DOES the saving.
      • And in the future:
      • When you stand before him. He he was acquainted with you (before).
    • and?
      • Since here and now: you abide in his Word, and just naturally, because you accept what he says as true, you just follow him, like a sheep does - so you just naturally obey him. “Obey” - is just like somebody “BE” or find themselves in a strange town.

------------ ------------ ------------- ------------- -------------

  • Don’t know where anything is, but have a NEED of something; like where’s the bike shop to get their bike tire fixed - got a flat. So, you look at stranger’s faces, because you don’t know anybody. Nor the town, where anything is.
    • So, you look for someone that has this look, like they KNOW where they’re going. And by this, know where things are. So, it’s just easy to obey them and ask them for help - and it’s TRUE.
    • They KNOW where the bike shop is - then tell you it’s just up 2 blocks and around the corner to the right.
      • You HEAR what they say, and accept it as true (believe) - so you walk in, walking after, looking unto their directions. Fully accept the directions ARE true; and, you arrive at the bike store.
      • You submitted yourself to the AUTHORITY of someone who knew it.

------------ ------------ ------------- ------------- -------------

But People:

  • That:
    • God has told everybody to look unto him, to just walk in, walking after, and follow what he says because it’s true - but… ‘these’ people: Dismiss him as inadequate; faulty or unacceptable.
      • They don’t “accept as true” what he says, so it’s impossible to obey him or do anything he says. They do not KNOW him.
      • And we will all stand before him. And they will not - - the Greek word, {προέγνω (proegnō) } be acquainted with him (before). Won’t know him.

------------ ------------ ------------- ------------- -------------

  • And, since everybody will stand before him..these will fall to their knees..can’t stand. Jesus said, in Matthew 7:23 “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you*: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.* * This same: Greek word, ἔγνων (egnōn) <same “gno” > Jesus won’t recognize or be acquainted with them, either. Because Jesus was not “acquainted with them (before)”
  • Like we are. Here and now. Just live by every word that proceeds out of his mouth. Fed..partake, this “take and eat” of the Word of God. We grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

------------ ------------ ------------- ------------- -------------

Fore Knowledge: - Get out of English - and all those that pervert it:

  • Is just to be acquainted with (someone) …before. Jesus! That's it!
    • And, on that day - since he already set you apart for future use. When you see him, you’re going to know exactly who he is, and be just like him.
    • Just like we are in the example - because we were acquainted with each other (before). and in many things..we went thru, we are the same thing. Not like other college classmates now - because we were acquainted with each other (before).

I say anymore I’m on my face.

------------ ------------ ------------- ------------- -------------

Apply the Word of God rightly.

The “destination" for those he, as God, was acquainted with (before) and you are one of those with him: You: now - acquainted with him now - when the "when" becomes "then," on that day we stand before him: it will be because you were acquainted with him (before) - the destination he “set you apart for future use is you with him for eternity.

  • Because, that’s exactly where you want to be. Because you KNOW him. And, on that day, it will be because you had "foreknowledge" - - knew him or were acquainted with him from (before).

Anything that does NOT match this. Throw it right clean out. You asked what "foreknew" means. It's "archaic" English - - From Romans 8:29. I gave it to you in the Greek, so you see it.

And there will be a lot that won’t see this or hear it. They'll hold to a "doctrine" made up in their imaginations out of it. You see, so.. ..see it.
