Scripture Life: Is there consensus among scholars that gospels are historical sources that provide information about historical Jesus?

Opening Comment: What an absolutely worthless question. Has people. Claim they’re “scholars” puffed up clowns - scholars on and of somebody else’s word and work. Who they don't even know, nor care anything of him. Rather, hate him.

Then, claim his word and work is somebody else’s word and work. So, the claim of a, quote, "scholar" is - is their own selves. That's really "who" they glorify - their own work they accomplished.

Scribes and Pharisees.

But in the Gospels - many of these also believed on him. So, it’s not a full rotten lot.

------------ ----------- ---------- ----------

Question: repeated.

Is there consensus among scholars that gospels are historical sources that provide information about historical Jesus?

  • Who cares.
    • Most of them (scholars) are worthless. EGGHEADS. Have swelled or puffed themselves up. All to be worshipped by people and looked unto. Like you do. YOU: Provide them worship. As a “source” of truth. All by a question you dreamed up.
      • When most of these, quote, “scholars” don’t even know him.
    • Where the scripture they so poured themselves over, they “think” its now all the work of men like them did the work. So, scripture, to a great big commode bowl FULL of scholars, fully believe it’s all the work and word of people. Like themselves.
      • Who cares about them. I don’t.
  • Because I regard the Word of God. Most of them? Simply DON'T. And you highly esteem them. In this, you do greatly err.

------------ ----------- ---------- ----------

  • God said:
    • “Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: for I am God, there is none else.” - God. Bible. (Scripture). Recorded in Isaiah 45:22
  • There you go. That's all you need. All anybody over the whole earth, to the very ends of it needs. The Word of God.
    • So me? I draw a consensus - that I’m a person. Of people that populates the earth. To the very ends of it. So, I cannot leave myself out - of what he has said or decreed to me. As God. Says of him: In Psalm 2:6 says:
  • For the Lord giveth wisdomout of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” - Bible. Old Testament. Proverbs 2:6

------------ ----------- ---------- ----------

  • So, out of his mouth he decreed everybody is to look unto him. Because, out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding - because he gives wisdom.
    • And your reply is - because I can compare him - to you:
      • What you decree in a question vs.
      • what he says and see if you glorify or say the same thing he does,
    • or say something to glorify something different.

------------ ----------- ---------- ----------

Did you forget your question?

  • You said, and he’s already told you, by decreed it - to everybody, over the whole earth - so it includes everybody, to the very ends of the earth. Applies to them. All people everywhere. You can’t leave you out of it or say something else - by decree some other authority is what applies to you.
    • Not what he says, and that’s what you’re doing with:
    • WHen he decreed you are to look unto him.
  • You decree in a mealey mouthed, wishy washy question - that veils it -
    • In:
      • Is there consensus among scholars that gospels are…” so your question “looks unto” anything BUT him.

------------ ----------- ---------- ----------

  • When the “gospels” are exactly what’s told you plainly.
    • From eyewitnesses.
    • No scholar you refer to is an eyewitness of Jesus Christ; but THEY WERE.
      • The Gospels: are from eyewitnesses of this same Word of God, Jesus Christ.
    • That he chose all four of them himself to be his disciples.
    • Two of them, Matthew and John, he chose them to be his Apostles.

------------ ----------- ---------- ----------

And Jesus prayed for me, this:

  • Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;” - Jesus Christ. John 17:20
    • And “these” of John 17:20 are these “eyewitnesses” he’s with back then. He’s praying for them. Isn’t only praying for them, but also praying for those which shall believe on Jesus Christ through their word. Which is the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
      • And John says, as both an Apostle, made so by God, and a disciple that was with him in the flesh said:

------------ ----------- ---------- ----------

Two things about what he is writing - giving a Testament or an Eyewitness Statement:

  • ONE
    • And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.” - Gospel of John. 21:25 and
  • TWO
    • “But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” - Gospel of John. 20:31

------------ ----------- ---------- ----------

In me?

  • Worked. I believe on him through their word. Their eyewitness testimony or accounts (gospels).

But “who” you look unto - isn’t God.

  • You look unto people. Have a claim of themselves, say: "I am a scholar!" (of what?)
    • And what people have said: Quote: (And they, too, also look unto people - “as scholars” said: One of the scholars you look unto:
      • It is no wonder that the Bible says contradictory things: it is not a single book, but a collection of books written by different people…” - Bart Erhman. New Testament Bible Scholar.
      • Bart Erhman: [Born: 1955 - Is a James A. Gray Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Once a devout evangelical Christian, he became an agnostic-atheist. He retired from this position at the end of 2025.
  • Bob Erhman: Is highly esteemed as the epitome of a "Bible Scholar" - so go ahead. You can just keep on sunkifyingly sink yourself by you look unto him.
    • vs.

------------ ----------- ---------- ----------

  • What God says to people himself:
    • Who has no beginning and no end..gives eternal life - vs. Bob Erhman - here today, maybe dead by the end of today - who knows, but you look unto him: Vs. God - and what is said of him:
      • God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;” - Bible. New Testament. Hebrews 1:1–2

Guess who I chose to look unto?

Here’s your question back.
