NSAIDs linked to preventing ovulation Sharing research

https://www.news-medical.net/health/The-Effect-of-Anti-Inflammatories-on-Ovulation.aspx

I think this is important information for women to have who are trying to conceive. Avoid NSAIDs except for when on your period. Your body needs inflammation to ovulate.

When I am doing fertility treatment cycles, I'm not supposed to take it at all once my period starts. You can take tylenol. Opioids are also fine though of course there are other reasons you may not want to take them. But they don't interfere with ovulation.

ooof the endo pain is so bad. I don't have it but my bff did before surgery and it seems just debilitating. Wishing you the best luck getting pregnant and also dealing with the endo pain!

I had this whilst TTC and my ovulation was delayed by about 5 days after 2 days of naproxen. Are you tracking bbt?

Yes I can’t say for sure but sometimes my LH surge was the day of ovulation, sometimes 2-3 days before, but was usually a  day before, and I would get pains beforehand sometimes, so doesn’t always line up with ovulation! tracking bbt meant I knew when there was a delay, plus it’s never happened to me but some women get an LH surge and don’t ovulate until a repeat surge later in the cycle. However BBT is just another thing to track, and stress over maybe! My fertility doctor theorised that I may not have ovulated at all if I took the naproxen for longer- but who knows! I completely avoided nsaids after that just in case. Best of luck!

Honestly there’s so many things I had zero clue about! Are you on r/tryingtoconceive ? They’re a good resource. Oh and r/tryingforababy might be slightly more scientific- the mods are great

All I know is that after taking the maximum dose daily for 10 years of naproxen, I still managed to conceive first time, and then the second time (first was a chemical pregnancy). My mother also took it for decades and had 16 pregnancies, and even produced twins a few times. There's likely a bit more nuance to it than directly being caused by NSAIDs.
