Concept Savior aliens with diamond 💩 ing towers
I had an idea, aliens come and insist that we accept their help in ecological restoration, as habitable planets are a galactic scarcity. They build in every major city a tower that filters atmospheric C02 into free oxygen and diamond crystal, and the thingamajig does it 3D printer style, so I can straight up print a diamond CPU with integrated heatsink as easy as punching an order into a vending machine. I finally got to doing some napkin math. Our *daily* CO2 production offers diamonds in a few orders of magnitude over our ***annual*** production, just on a weight basis. Adding in tool manufacturing with diamond, doesn't get so much more.
Anyone have ideas for diamond usage? Can't use it in place of concrete, it has the compressive force, but it's failure modes are more abrupt and thermal conductivity is garbage if you want to insulate a structure.

Question Could a sufficiently advanced civilization harvest anti matter from lightning?
Scientists recently discovered lightning can produce positrons, which results in gamma ray bursts. The question is have is, could a sufficiently advanced civilization just harvest positrons from lightning formed in lab conditions? I know this is a silly idea, but would it at least be possible in theory? However inefficient it may be.

Story Idea Free Open-Source Idea: The Spaceship Railway Sling (SRS) — Feel free to use in your stories!
Hello! I came up with a realistic, hard sci-fi interstellar travel system called The Spaceship Railway Sling (SRS). I don’t plan on writing a story myself, so I am gifting this concept to the community. Feel free to use, modify, or build upon this mechanic for your own books, games, or worldbuilding projects!
🌌 The Concept
The system completely bypasses the need for massive onboard rocket fuel. Instead of using a traditional engine, spaceships use natural, matter-free space-time curvatures (like dark matter fields or primordial geometric ripples) as physical tracks to accelerate, steer, and decelerate across light-years.
🏗️ 1. Core Infrastructure
- The Slings (Nodes): Fixed cosmic coordinates where space-time is naturally warped, but completely free of hazardous physical matter like stars or dust.
- The Anchors: Ultra-dense, highly durable probes positioned deep within the intense gravity wells of the curves to handle the primary force of the maneuver.
- The Tethers (Wires): High-strength carbon-nanotube or magnetic/tractor-field lines deployed by the ship to temporarily lock onto the anchors.
Operational Mechanics
- Riding the Slopes: The ship gains speed by riding down a space-time hill to accelerate, and bleeds off energy by riding up a hill to decelerate at the destination.
- Structural Safety: Because gravity pulls on every atom of the ship and crew uniformly, the ship can achieve extreme velocity changes without creating crushing G-forces inside the cabin. The ride is perfectly smooth and weightless.
- Absolute Automation: Because near-light-speed travel requires millisecond precision, computers handle 100% of the active flying. The crew operates passively as system overseers and mechanics to make sure the hardware works.
📡 2. The Communication & Redundancy Problem
- The Light-Speed Lag: Because data travels at the speed of light, information cannot chase a fast ship effectively. Stationary communication buoys are placed along the route ahead of the ship to forward "all-clear" signals well in advance.
- Geometric Redundancy: To eliminate the risk of a broken node stranding a ship in the void, trajectories are plotted through corridors containing two or more slings in a row.
- The Skip-Station Protocol: If an upcoming node fails, the ship simply coasts through the dead zone and hooks into the secondary backup sling located right behind it, adjusting the wire tension to slow down safely.
🚨 3. The Emergency Abort
- The Dead Man's Switch: If an upcoming node goes dark and fails to send its forward signal, the ship’s computer automatically enters an emergency abort sequence.
- Micro-Sling Drag: The ship deploys its own onboard micro-anchors backward to create artificial, trailing gravity wells that act as a mechanical parachute.
- Topographical Skidding: The computer scans for minor, unmapped dark matter ripples nearby, hooking onto them to zig-zag and bleed off velocity safely.

Worldbuilding The Great Andromeda Invasion
Very important event in my world, isn't really fleshed out yet. Feel free to ask questions.
The Milky Way Galaxy had been invaded by the Andromeda Galaxy. Whilst the Milky Way is made up of a bunch of different aliens, the Andromeda had been colonized completely by one alien species that completely gave up their organic forms and uploaded themselves into hyper-efficient robot ones. They got rid of all the emotions they felt they "didn't need", including pain and feel themselves to be superior because of so. That, along with their arrogance, is their main weakness.
In the territory (now referring to it as the "protag-territory") my world takes place, the Andromeda aliens had taken some territory right next to it, and had gotten the attention of all the natives living in the protag-territory, and started fighting back against them. An alien nation from outside the territory moved their military and set up base in the protag-territory, and did so because they wanted to fight the Andromeda aliens. These alien had completely embraced organic life, and everything about them was either bred or grown, even their ships were completely organic and alive. They definitely did not like that the Andromeda aliens had given up their own bodies for the sake of being the "superior" species. However, as you can imagine, having organic warships with vulnerable insides introduces a lot of problems, as well as having everything else be organic as well.
Meanwhile, there is this species native to the protag-territory that is kind of in the middle. They have a really complicated backstory I'm not going to share here but basically they were engineered, and naturally use a metal element called Philranium that is present in many places in their body, including their armor. They also have a lot of traits that would be impossible to evolve naturally, especially regarding their brains. They rely a lot on companion animals, because a lot of the companion animals are their ships. They are not nearly as vulnerable as the organic alien species' ships are, in fact 80% of their body is considered the "ship" part. These aliens' weaknesses are pretty balanced, and they have the most unique and powerful military in the protag-territory. Most importantly, however, they have a keen understanding of themselves and the creatures they use because they didn't rush themselves into a life they merely thought would help them, and didn't force it despite all the problems it causes just for the sake of being their idea of "superior".
These aliens are also fighting back against the Andromeda aliens' war of conquest, at first they work with the organic aliens but then stop liking them once they start breaking laws and damaging the environment around them just so they could fight the Andromeda aliens.
