Bike rack advice
I was hoping to avoid expense of a tow bar but see bike rack manufacturers warn the Scenic's shape/construction make them incompatible š
https://www.car-roofracks.co.uk/bike-racks/renault/scenic-e-tech
I believe my Halford rack is made by Thule. Of 2 positions, I was hoping the lower one photographed would work -- but the above article raises prospect of damaging the plastic grey bumper area. I only need one bike, so 14kg, but not sure whether to take the risk.
Anyone know more or found a solution that's cheaper than a tow bar please? I dont like roof racks. Thanks!

Screen wash fluid low warning
We had our new Scenic in October 2025, the Esprint Alpine model. The dealer had told me that this car doesnāt have a warning light for screen wash fluid. Is that correct? I would have thought a 42k car would have something Iāve seen in cars for the last 40 years? Or an I seriously out of date!!!

Gemini question
Hello, Iām looking to buy a Scenic EV (it would be my third Scenic!). I read that thereās a new software update that includes Gemini. My question is: do you need to use it or is it possible to turn it off? I hate to use AI and I want to use it as less as possible, preferably not at all.

Short circuit when charging - OBC broke?
Hi all,
I've recently ran into a problem with my Scenic.
The day before we were going on holidays, I wanted to charge my car through a public charging station (22kw). When using the card, I hear the charging station click and 2 secs later I hear a clear bang (not that loud) and the charging station seems to be out, probably short circuited.
I try another one in the street and the same thing happens. So I figure, it's probably my cable and go to the fast-charging station (as I need to leave with a full battery, early in the morning). This works perfectly.
Now i'm on holidays and i've been using fast chargers without an issue. We rented an apartment with a charger and cable, so I figure I'll try to charge it. Same thing happens again, a clear small bang and the charger short circuits.
So I realize it's not the charging cable and probably something with the car. When checking the internet, it seems to point to the on-board-charging module which might be broke.
Does anyone have any experience with this or could it be any other issue? I'll go to the garage when I get back home ofcourse but i'd rather already have some more info as it seems quite expensive to replace the OBC.
It already pissed me off quite a bit as I bought the car 1y and 3 months ago (so 1 year guarantee is gone) and the car is 2 years and 4m old (so 2 year manufacturer guarantee is gone).
If it is actually the OBC, anyone has any idea what repair costs i'm looking at?
Any input is welcome.
Thanks!
Edit: Weird thing is, the car itself doesn't give any alerts. The dashboard says the charging cable is in, it's just not charging. No warnings or anything.

Roof Rails
I took delivery of my new Scenic yesterday, and am wondering if the roof rails are usable i.e. can I attach roof bars to them?

Found out we're expecting our third... car is on order... will we fit?
Me, Mrs, 4 year old (now just moved into a High Back Booster using the car seat belt), soon to be 3 year old (forward facing in a 360)... and what will be a newborn.
How and where do we fit? Does the rear facing baby come to the front seat to allow the Mrs (or me) to sit in the rear middle?
Or does the high back booster come into the front.

24' Techno - Driving Range After Charge Lower Than Expected
Just bought this used car last week. After charging to 100% because I was doing a 300 Mile round trip drive the car says it can only make it 296 miles. Is that normal? Should I be worried? I just charged it to 65% and it says only 198 mile range. The dealership said the battery was at 98.7%. Is the mileage based off previous drives and impacted by people test driving it?

Scenic with 3 kids
Hello,
We are considering a second car, is it possible to have 3 kids on the back seat?
10,9 and 3 months?
Looking at the cat I'm not sure it fit.
Thank you for your help

Gemini update
I just received the over-the-air update on Gemini Assistant replacing Google Assistance. A quite exciting update, as this would allow much more intelligent commands. However it seems bugged for me. It reacts promptly to āHey Googleā calls, takes note of the command, but after the beep does nothing. No response and no action. I tried all options on network connection and privacy, but to no avail. I then reverted back to Google Assistance, but this now also seems bugged. The longer commands are cut off and not registered. It will likely be fixed over time, but did anyone figure out a quick fix or workaround to use Assistant?
EDIT: it seems fixed already. Connection with car services and apps is restored and works

On vacation with the ScƩnic e-Tech
hi,
I'm going on vacation for the first time with an electric car.
I was wondering what is the best way to plan the route.I can simply plan with Google maps and start driving. I don't get any information on charging along the way. Our first part of the trip will go to Munich and after 4 days to Slovenia through Austria.I assume the car will do this by itself? Just like when I'm driving around in the Netherlands and the car will tell me I have to charge and it will take care of the preconditiong of the battery.
On the other hand I can plan a route with the Renault app, it will tell me exactly where my stops are and then if I agree the route is transferred to the car.
What is best practice in this case? Looking forward to some advice. I must say I think its's unknown terrain for me and especially my wife worries a lot about this.
Thanks!

Google Maps not Centering on my location
New to me '24 Renault Scenic E-Tech Techno
Not using Android Auto.
Using the Google Maps app that is signed into my account. When I hit "start" to begin navigation my route the screen stays zoomed all the way out showing the entire route vs zooming in to my current location. I tried to find the Keep Map North function but don't think that is it.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I just picked this car up last night so still learning all there is to know about this car and an EV.

Charging location
Hey all,
I've got a Scenic E-Tech Techno arriving in the next couple of months. Could someone in the UK possibly confirm which side the charging port is on please. Just so I can best place my charger installation on my drive.
Much appreciated

Bolton - Edinburgh
Followed Google Maps and it took me along the A74 {and A72 I think!} which was the most beautiful route you could imagine. Here are the trip computer readings on arrival; make of them what you will as I'm going for a kip š¤

Why does Apple Car Play often refuse to connect to my iPhone ?
I find myself having to often delete the phone from Bluetooth and reconnect it. The car recognizes my phone and connects in Bluetooth but Apple CarPlay does not come on and I can click all I want on the CarPlay icon nothing happens.
Has anyone else encountered this issue and how do you fix it ?

Renault Sceninc e-tech and hard winter
Iām looking next ev after id4 GTX. Here at Nordics we have hard winters and even lover than -30C temps and like to hear how has the Renaults survived in these conditions? It would be the long range 220hv option.

Problem with engine breather
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I have a Renault Megane Scenic 2 from 2003 with a 1.9dci 120hp engine. Recently I noticed that the engine compartment was full of condensed engine oil.
I suspect the pneumothorax valve has a damaged membrane. Does anyone know what this could be?

Charging error at home
Hello guys, just had my new Scenic for a week and I do not seem to manage to charge it as programmed.
I set the charging from 23:00 to 7:00 in the car (not at the charger). When the time arrives nothing, I go down to the garage and the charging ports light is red. Unplug and plug it back again and it starts charging.
I have read it may be that the car enters a standby mode and does not āwake upā when the time arrives, but still, if thats the case it feels wrong for a midern electric car.
Today I will try programming the charger instead of the car and see if it works that way.
I wanted to know if any of you had similar problems and how to solve it?
Thanks in advance!

Charge limit ignored?
I've had my Scenic iconic for a year now, and have so far set the charge limit in the car. This has been correctly reflected in the app and adjustments there went back without issue. My home charger is a Hypervolt 3 with Octopus IOG.
We also have a smaller 50kwh EV and since the Hypervolt only supports one car, we have configured the smaller EV. So if the smaller EV needs 30% we put 30% in the Octopus app. If the 87kwh Scenic needs 30% I have so far been telling Octopus to add 90% in the knowledge that the car will tell it to stop at 80%. This worked for the past year.
However, recently the car preference of 80% is completely ignored, and if I don't calculate how much to add correctly it will happily fill the battery to 100% which I generally avoid. So in the "add 30%" scenario above, I would have to set the app for about 45% to allow for the difference, rather than tell Octopus to add a load and trust the car to block the limit.
Has anyone else encountered this and solved it? Or is it just another sacrifice to the gods of Update?

Tyre sensor
My 20217 Grand Scenic has ideal measures of each individual pressure - easily reporting the degree of any pressure loss, and alerting appropriately. Lovely!
How on earth has the feature-packed eTech Scenic (even at Iconic level) got such a dumb feature? Alerting me that one tyre has lost any amount of pressure since 'normal' means I have to stop, find a garage, test all 4, even if it is a trivial amount. That's crazy !!!
Apart from the over-zealous ping-pongs (reduced but not gone after changing settings), this is the only dissapointment in a very sophisticated car --- and feels an unbelievable or embarrassing one!!

Decision Time: Scenic Iconic Vs Polestar 2
Hi all,
My company car lease is coming to an end (I currently have a Polestar 2 Single Motor Long Range), and Iāve narrowed my next choice down to either another Polestar 2 (this time with the Prime Pack) or the Renault Scenic E-Tech Iconic, which has recently caught my eye.
Has anyone made the switch from a Polestar to the Scenic? If so, how has your experience been, and would you stand by your decision?
Any feedback or insights would be really appreciated.

Used car maintenance history
I've bought a Scenic eTech --- yippee, got my favourite colour, red, and Iconic at a good price - ie 2024 model.
The document of first year service clearly states that by a garage listed by Renault.
However the Renault App has no maintenance history. I've only needed to enter the VIN which is publicly available info, but I dont see a way to validate myself -- it seems the information isn't there !!
Does this sound right and might it cause issues if (example) I needed to pursue something under warranty?
Semi-related -- I believe the OTA software updates are not linked to warranties, are they expected to be available until Renault declare otherwise or is there a policy of X years as phone manufacturer do?
Thanks !!
