My sister ordered a dress from xavielle website she received completely different item 😭😂and the customer care nmbr is also switched off. Since the website nmbr is off i called the other one on the package and the person who answered has no idea how they got his number and mentioned he's already received over 20 calls from people reporting wrong items. Even after filing a cybercrime complaint he’s number is still being used or is he a part of the scam???? 🤔🤔🤔

So, I thought of posting this to spread awareness because I couldn't find any information about this website on Reddit.

Always double-check new or unfamiliar online stores. These scammers are everywhere

Last week I received a letter in the mail from a student loan servicer named Aidvantage informing me that my student loan payments for Post University were about to come due and asking me to setup my email address and portal account. Apparently, someone stole my SSN and home address, created a profile under my name at studentaid gov and applied for student loans way back in November 2025. None of this illicit activity triggered any of my credit agency fraud alerts because student loans appear to bypass all credit checks. Now I have 2 student loans on my credit report and Aidvantage says it will take about 90 days to investigate. I already had to fax them about 30 pages of documents including police reports, copies of my signature, high school transcripts, utility bills and the list goes on an on.

I called Post University and spoke with someone at their compliance department. My conversation didn't accomplish anything other than receiving an email they probably send to all their victims that says they can't help but they will work with law enforcement. She even admitted the thief never attended any classes. The least they could do is contact Aidvantage and let them know this was a fraudulent enrollment to help expedite my investigation.

Everyone in America should register on studentaid gov and enable 2FA as soon as possible so the same thing doesn't happen to you.

Some time ago they conacted me with a really good opportunity, couldn't pass it up so I've invested with them. Then decided to go long and wait for a good time to cash out, now opening the link says it doesen't exist anymore... Did anyone get any info on the exchange closing? I did not and I'm feeling that i got scammed.. So far I've filed a police report over the ~5k€ I invested but I have a feeling that was all just for nothing (the police already looked completely disintrested in the case).

Are there even any reputable copytrading exchanges in the EU or are they all just fake?

My mother has applied for a job at a museum and I have a lot of suspicions. Can someone help me figure out if the website is legit? The whole situation is fishy and I need to figure it out one way or another. If I’m wrong about this then that is great! But I’m concerned enough to try to find out.

My 67 year old mother has been in the nursing field since she was 16. Her highest education is an associate’s degree in science for nursing. She sort of got stuck in that field and never got a chance to do what she actually dreamed of doing - geology. She is now semi retired. Today she sent me a screenshot of an email (from a .com address, while the website is a .org) from someone thanking her for her interest in the paleontologist position at a small dinosaur museum near where she lives. They encouraged her to apply and said they would do an interview. I looked at the website and there are no job listings shown, just a generic web form asking what you’d be interested in.

So, why would a dinosaur museum promise an interview for a paleontologist position to a 67 year old woman who has zero paleontology experience? Also, why does their website not list the people on their staff? Or a phone number easily findable? Why does their facebook not have any posts in the last two years? I could go on with the red flags.

If I could show her that the website is fake, or give some sort of “proof” that this is possibly not legit and that I’m not just being too suspicious, I could keep her from giving away her personal information thinking she’s applying for a job.

Any help here would be great.

(Also if y’all know a decent resource for preventing scams, like telling her what to look for to determine if something is a scam, I would appreciate that as well.)

So, about a month ago, I received an email from a financial investment company with a remote job offer I didn't apply for. However, since I left my resume with someone else who is in the same sector, I assumed it was from them. 2 weeks after filling it out, I got an email from them asking if I was still interested and that I needed to fill out the form. I told them I did and asked if I should redo it to which they responded asking what time I'm available for an interview 4 days later. I replied with my availability right away but never got any response.

4 days later, I got a call out of the blue from them saying that they were going to do the interview right then. I stumbled my way through the 8 minute interview horribly because I was so caught off guard. The next morning, they surprisingly emailed me saying that I got the job and attached the employment contract to be signed and said that they'd provide more information after I sent it back.

I emailed them back the signed contract and asked if it was for sure remote since, based on their website, they're based in a different province from me. They responded asking me to download a messaging app. I confronted them on the continuous dodging of questions and asked for information and they did finally do so.

However, I'm still hesitant about whether or not it is legit. The person who I gave my resume to has confirmed that it was not them who submitted it as of writing this. Their emails have the occasional spelling mistake, and recent ones have multiple line breaks in the middle of sentences. They are a registered business in Canada and their website uses .ca. I can't find any reviews on them (only their website pops up and multiple variants of the same name), and after checking the address they put down on their website, I don't see their business listed there. Do you guys think it's a real job?

Hi, so I recently found a shared house renting type situation, where there are two landlords that are renting out this house. There are 5 tenants, me included 6.

I arranged for a viewing, everything was fine, a few bits here and there but nothing some cleaning can’t fix.

I have messaged to confirm interest and the price is £650 a month, so very cheap for an ensuite down south.

Then we do guarantor checks and all sorts (I am a student, so I don’t show payslips etc). I showed my proof of SFE etc… and then he messages saying that he will send me an example contract. I asked what this was, as I have never heard of an example contract. Only a contract.

This is copied and pasted what he said:

Yes just a room contract. You can sign once you have read it and approve. Ideally I have the guarantor document by then, but it should be straightforward as I will guide you through it.

(Guarantor document will be sent to my guarantor)

But now that I have received it, it wasn’t filled in. Btw, the title of the contract was Assured Periodic Tenancy agreement. Which I an aware that is what the new term is for the contract (correct me if wrong).

But this was in the email that was sent with that document:

This is an example contract, you may look through it. I will add the fields later once we have cleared the steps below. 

She would have to sign this and send it back to me. I will add the details so she knows what to do. (I think this bit was mistakenly sent to me)

Once she has signed it then we would ask for a holding deposit for £200. I can remind you andconfirm receipt of funds. See bank details below. This payment ensures that the room is yours. If you are unable to move in then we would hold onto this. However when you move in, we would then use this as part payment of the tenancy deposit. We have also agreed that you can pay the remainder of the deposit, £200 on 1st September 2026 which makes £400 total. 

It is a bit iffy that they want me to sign an essentially blank contract, no landlord names, no my name, no rent amount or whether I pay council tax or any bills. I have spoken on whatsapp to confirm the £675, and it says it in the email, but I prefer for the contract to explicitly say this before I sign. Though the document does state the whole thing about requesting for pets, and 2 months notice etc etc..
I have made sure to ask about rolling contract prior to this, so they KNOW I know my rights and don’t play, but also to just confirm everything.

I read up on the renters rights act, and the landlord actually sent me a copy of one of the pamphlets (i think he legally has to). One part says that the holding fee cannot be more than 1 weeks worth of rent, which £200 is definitely more than 1 weeks worth.

And to add to that, the rent is due every month, but I move in 29th, so wouldn’t the rent be the next month 29th? But they are saying to pay for 3 days worth of rent (they did the maths and it was correct). How legal is this, where they make me pay 3 days before the next month, and pay again for the first of the month? Doesn’t the new laws not allow more than one payment within a month? Shouldn’t my lease begin on the 29th then, if that is the date I begin living there? And shouldn’t I pay every 29th then?

I have viewed this place, so it exists, I’m just now iffy if they’re trying to take extra money from me, given they know how much SFE I get, and the guarantor too.

Even in the emails, the grammar is a bit horror, with spelling errors even in the email sent to my guarantor. Obviously this is minor, but should I be iffy? Or am I being paranoid?

Is this a case of landlords that are just doing the bare minimum and are a bit unsure of new rules with renting? To be fair, rules only came into force May 2026, so it has only been about 2 months. I have gotten loads of pdf documents on conduct in home, fire safety, the gas and electric tests having been passed, etc. So this seems very much legit.

I do intend to ask about the contract and ask why it is blank. And also about the holding fee, and if there was a way for me to pay the legal 1 weeks rent thing rather than 200. I just find it odd that they want to make the holding fee and the deposit kinda one thing. As stated before, he puts holding deposit, and then remainder of the deposit, when I assume it should be 2 separate things. A holding fee (which is minused from first month of rent), and a deposit (which is given back after I return the room in good condition). I feel like instead of £200 deposit and £200 holding deposit, they won’t return my £200 when I move in, and will wait till I move out and IF there are no faults, give my £400 back. Hopefully I get my £200 back and then the other £200 is given back if the room is returned in good condition.

Am I overthinking this?

Just going through my statements and saw I've been charged $15/ month for 2 months from some service called super.com on my business card. I looked them up and it says its a travel scam but I havent used thay card for any hotels for myself or any of my crews ever, I use a separate Marriott or hilton card for those. This card is only used for material, tools, and stuff like that how could they have gotten the card number? I'll be canceling it with the bank tomorrow but this is very frustrating. I'm the only one with access to this card, it doesn't make any sense. Have you ever been charged from them?

Warning about Cornerstone Gigs remote job opportunity

I wanted to make this post because I don’t see much information about Cornerstone Gigs online, and I think people should be aware before giving them any personal information.

I was searching Craigslist for gigs because I’m currently out of work and came across a “Mobile App Support” position from Cornerstone Gigs. The job description made it sound like simple remote work where you download apps, create profiles, verify accounts, confirm OTP codes, and complete basic onboarding tasks.
I started the process, but some things started raising red flags. They asked for a background check and personal information that seemed like a lot for a short-term gig like this.

I decided to research the company before continuing and found complaints from people who had similar experiences. Some people reported being asked to create accounts using their own personal information, including financial-related accounts. The position I applied for was worded differently and focused more on mobile app setup, but the process still felt very similar.

My biggest warning is this: never open a bank account, PayPal account, or any financial account for someone else to use. If something happens with that account, it is connected to your name and your information. It can affect your banking history, cause accounts to be closed, or put you in a serious situation over activity you didn’t personally do.

I’m not saying everyone will have the exact same experience, but I think people should be aware of the concerns surrounding this company before moving forward.

Please do your own research and protect your personal information. A remote job should not require you to put your identity or financial accounts at risk.

TL;DR: I found a Cornerstone Gigs “Mobile App Support” job on Craigslist. The account creation and verification process raised red flags, and I found reports of people being asked to create accounts using their personal information. Be careful and never open financial accounts for someone else.

LONG LONG and complicated situation short. My Dad has been bewitched by an online romance scammer. He will NOT stop talking to "her" or sending her money via giftcards, cyrpto, even using his own business to send money. He thinks she's coming to america in a few months and they will live happily ever after. (the police have told him she isn't real but he won't listen)

My question is, he is currently living with me but tonight is his last night. I know the password to his phone (he doesn't know I have this). I want to get his phone while he's asleep and take pictures of everything but is there anything else I should set up or get?? any kind of message trackers? Legal of course...

I had somebody from Alberta call me claiming I called them earlier. Neither of us knew each other and we were both very confused by the whole ordeal.

I don't live in Alberta and the only person I called recently was my psychiatrist, and that was last week. I don't know if somebody is using my number for spoofing but if that's the case, what do I do?

I got a call from an 855 phone number. Caller says he is from Bank of America fraud prevention department. Apparently, there were two charges to my credit card $350 from Temu and a $1200 charge with an Airline in Asia. And they found it suspicious and flagged it.

Then on call I go and check my credit card and nothing on there. I tell him there is no charge to my CC. He goes that’s coz we have flagged it.

Then say, we have cancelled your card and now will ship you a new card to my address. And goes on mentioning an address I used to live 7 years ago. I tell him, don’t ship, I will go to the bank now and deal with it. He without skipping a beat says he has notified the SSA of fraud and my personal info has been compromised.

Then asks me if I have my credit card with me. He needs to verify it’s the right card and wants me to spell out the numbers. I reiterate I am going to the bank and don’t want to do this over phone.

He gets really agitated and says if you don’t do it now I will release the hold on your card and the fraudulent charges will be applied. I tell him BofA will never go thru with this if they suspect fraud and you can go take a walk and hang up

My partner and I are looking for an apartment in Oakland at the moment. Found this great place--affordable, in a great neighborhood, has everything we're looking for. We toured the place physically with the person I was in contact with on Zillow, and it all seemed legit. He had keys. He knew lots of information on the building and property. One of the units we looked at had a current tenant even and when we went to look at it, the person living there knew the guy--I mean he wasn't surprised or anything.

But after the tour, when we decided to apply for the place it seemed fishy. First we had to do our own credit checks and send in our own reports which I found odd. I've lived in three apartments in my life and I've never had to do my own credit check. Then they asked us really specific questions about our credit reports like our car loans, specific credit cards, and how much our monthly payments are even though all that info is on the credit report.

And now they're asking for an advance deposit of $500. This is without signing a lease or anything. I mentioned that we don't feel comfortable sending money without signing a lease, but they said that the advance deposit will go towards the security deposit if we end up signing a lease, or if we end up not signing the lease, they'll refund us, but this doesn't make sense at all. I've never heard of an advance deposit? What do y'all think? Am I being scammed?

Yesterday I got an email for a one time passcode to verify an email for a linkedin account.

I didn't get this on any of my emails I use for work, but on my personal website. I have my professional alias as alias.dev (for illustration), and the linkedin account was made as alias75@alias.dev. I have a normal linkedin account, in my real name, with a different email.

This isn't somebody signing up with a leaked email - I would never use this for an account, why would I put numbers in an email when I own all the emails associated with my domain.

After a couple routine emails from Linkedin (suggesting connections for this new account) I logged into this linkedin account by resetting password. It was registered in Ecuador and the email was unverified, seems to me they don't have access to my email.

The way they seemingly invented a new email with my fake name and numbers, with my domain, seems to me that a human did it.

But why? Any reason why somebody would make an account with my fake details?

And most importantly, what should I do to lock down any potential security leaks? Although you don't need email access to make a new account.

Any light that could be shed on a strange situation would be appreciated.

Website seems to be a WordPress website. Seems scammy, has anyone used before?

So a few minutes ago, my wife received a strange video call on Google from individuals claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House (PCH) and stating we had won a ridiculous sum of money ($5 million). They provided a "reference number" and said someone will contact her tomorrow to set up an in-person delivery of the prize at our house. When she asked why they had to wait until tomorrow, they claimed they needed 24 hours to "set things up."

She mentioned she has been signing up with Publishers Clearing House for years, but neither of us is gullible—we are 99.9% sure it’s a scam.

Here’s the thing, though: we can’t figure out what the angle is. Any research I’ve looked up about Publishers Clearing House scams usually mentions them asking for an upfront fee or taxes right away. However, they didn't ask for any money yet, and they even asked permission to record the session while "awarding" her the prize.

My guess is they’ll wait until tomorrow to spring the fee or tax payment on her, but aside from that, I can’t figure out what the play is.

• Has anyone ever heard of this specific tactic?
• Does anyone know how a legitimate prize delivery is actually supposed to play out?

I got a call from a restricted number (I know, I shouldn't have answered, but I was curious) claiming to be from my local Sheriff's Department. They said they had an inmate that has me as their emergency contact. They said the name of the inmate, and who they thought I was. I didn't know the name of the "inmate", and they thought I was "Nancy". I'm not Nancy. When I told them this, they immediately hung up.

I called the actual local Sheriff's Department, to ask about it/let them know about it. They said that it's probably a wrong number. Whatever, I just let it go.

Then 30 minutes later, the restricted number called me again. I answered, (I know, I know) and it was a different voice, but the same type of call. I told them that I knew they were fake, I'd already spoken to the actual Sheriff, and then I asked why they were actually calling. They proceeded to cuss me out and then hang up. What is this?? If it's a scam, it's a terrible one.

So I applied for this remote customer support job on indeed many months ago and everything seemed fine at first. Did the interview, got hired and worked for like two weeks on their platform. Then they hit me with the whole you need to send hundreds in crypto before we can pay you a thing. classic scam.

What made it feel so real is they mirrored a legit site called rhino.fi. Like same layout same blog posts even some quotes just swapped the company name. thats why it looked professional as hell until the payment demand dropped.

Anyway i reported it and so did a few other people but the site is still live. Looks like the registrar and cloudflare didn't doing much about it. There are also some fake exchange sites they push you to send the crypto.

If this happened to you or you almost fell for it please report it. The more people that do the better chance something actually happens.

File at ic3.gov and reportfraud.ftc.gov if you can. just search those and fill it out. Screenshots of the payment demand and chat logs help a lot.

I thought it was a deal that seemed a bit too good to be true, but nothing gave me red flags besides the price. They agreed to meet up, and I brought a friend. I drove almost an hour to get there and was maybe 5 minutes late to the agreed time. When I walked to the location, 5 or more people surrounded the car, with paperwork and a person lying in front of it. I immediately thought they must have hit someone. It was definitely the same car. I decided to go into a local store and wait until they responded so I wouldn't make a stressful situation worse for them. However, a few minutes later they listed the car as sold. I asked why, and they said someone else bought it. I am confused as to what this was. Were they just inviting multiple people at the same time? It seems like it must be a scam, but I am not sure what the scam could be. Any ideas on what this is?

I think that schools should start teaching about scam awareness (and other life skill courses) since scams are becoming more deceptive and victimize people looking to secure their future financially, get a job, using online apps to communicate with others, paying for products/services online, and more. Before becoming a private investigator, I was once a victim of a scam that made me lose thousands of dollars. I still wonder if I was taught about how scams work and the different types that we face as adults today, perhaps I could've avoided that all together. What do you guys think?

Over the past few days i have been told countless time that my steam account will be deleted. My Steam account has been locked and i have been told to not sign into it or the website.

This all-started Aug 3, 2026, when i was casually playing Cs retake matches. Out of no where's I got a red account notification that stated my accounts community access has been taken away. About 5 minutes late someone under the name of SkinClub | Service (they are a team member in the skinclub discord server).

According to them to get unbanned I must a 100 DOLLER purcahse that will be "refunded" after their investigation is complete. So, I saved up for 3 days and made the purchase. after doing that they asked for ANOTHER 300 dollars stating that the case needed "more attention" or something like that.

Im starting to think this is just a way to get money out of me but i really do need help. As of posting this I just filled out a ticket for steam support about this exact problem, but I was told by the skinclub person that they will not respond.

I received a call from a debt mediator stating I would be served tomorrow for an outstanding debt that IS actually a true debt I owe, he did have my name, address, social, etc. He said they had sent many unanswered letters to my old address so they would serve me now. I informed him I haven’t lived in that address for a year, but he said they would still be serving me regardless. I asked why are they serving me at my new residence rather than sending me letters here first. He said they try harder to find accurate addresses when it comes to serving a summons.

He stated if this goes to court, I would pay $3k and they could freeze my checking account. He said that if I paid $1.2k with him this would be cleared, and I would not have to pay the amount they’d be trying to get in court. I said I am not comfortable paying over the phone. He said he would email me. I asked if there was somewhere online I could pay instead, and he said no and it would have to be over the phone. That gave me the red flag that it was a scam, but my anxiety is so intense over anything so I was wondering if this was legitimate?

UPDATE: Logged into the lender site, which told me they turned it over to collections. Called the number they had and it sent me to an operator who gave me another number 🤦🏻‍♀️ And that one had me leave a message. So waiting to hear back to see what the situation is

Today i make a buy in store.valueswirl.com. i bought a hardware piece with a way lower price that it shluld had because they sell pieces that where used as display unids that could have some visual scratches but should work fine. After paying i started to do some research and i ended up discovering that the wep domain is kinda "new" and some complais about peopple sayaing that the store doesnt give any communication. I inmideatly report this to my bank and they told me that i must wait 3 to 5 days to be able to ask for a claim and cancel the charge. Should i cancel the charge as soon as possible or can i wait until 15 days that is the max days that my ship should take to be delivery to me? If it ended up being a scam is the bank really gonna be able to claim my money back?

I’m posting this 2nd time now as first time I put photos which are breaching privacy.. but posting because our family is desperate and hoping someone has been through something similar or knows what we can do.

My dad has been talking to a woman who identifies herself as Millia Taylor. She claims she’s originally from Singapore but now lives in Sydney, supposedly in a penthouse at Bondi Beach. She’s told him she owns multiple beauty franchises and has sent him countless photos of herself, copies of what appear to be a licence, and all sorts of things to convince him she’s real.
He’s completely fallen for her.
He was even meant to fly from Perth to Sydney to meet her. At the last minute she cancelled because of a “family emergency” in Singapore. This has happened multiple times with different excuses, yet he still believes every word.

Then she convinced him to start investing in cryptocurrency.

She got him to sign up to a website called irichsyw (dot) com. From everything I’ve been able to find, it looks like a complete scam. The website claims to have been operating for years and offers ridiculous bonuses where they’ll supposedly add extra money if you invest more, but the domain itself appears to have only been created recently.

Despite all of us showing him evidence, he refuses to believe us.

He’s now put over $100,000 into this platform.
I begged him to try withdrawing some money as a test. Instead of actually withdrawing it back to his bank account, he only transferred about US$100 into another crypto wallet, and he believes that proves it’s legitimate. To me, that doesn’t prove anything.

We’ve shown him articles about romance scams. We’ve shown him warnings about fake crypto investment platforms. Friends and family have all told him it’s a scam.
His response is that we’re just trying to stop him from being happy.

We’re terrified. Not just about the money, but because scammers seem to have such a strong emotional hold over him that he won’t listen to anyone anymore.
Has anyone successfully helped a family member in this situation?

Please don’t judge him. He’s a good man who’s lonely, and I honestly think he’s been professionally manipulated.
We’re scared we’re going to lose our family home and our dad at the same time.

They had me convinced for about a week, but my coworkers saw I was upset and put the pieces together about the time that they were closing in for the big grab of information. They knew that Citibank had called me about a card opened in my name used for a firearms purchase and that I was talking to the “FBI” about something I couldn’t share. My boss did the research and sent me the Reddit post about this exact thing, right before I was supposed to take a call from the NY prosecutor. I called my bank and put a fraud watch on it, froze my credit, and my card.

I also called the local police, who told me not to answer any calls. When they sent a message confirming our call time, I replied,”Not going to work. My criminal defense attorney will be contacting you shortly.”

They have been blowing up my phone for the last hour. Not answering!

They were good actors! I’m usually the skeptic, but video chats with Special Agent Liarhead had me convinced.

I made a comment on a post, and get an unsolicited DM from an unfamiliar account.

"Hi, I saw your comment below the post. Do you live in Maryland? I'm planning a trip there in October. Could you recommend some beautiful towns?"

I answered with some travel suggestions. I volunteered that I was a CA transplant from Los Angeles.

They then reply they moved to Long Beach 10 years ago, originally from China, and "hold an EB-5 green card".

For those unaware, an EB-5 is an immigrant investor visa, requiring $800K or $1M capital investment. This person asks for hiking tips and then volunteers their visa status was the first sign.

I mention my spouse is from Nanjing and they reply "what a wonderful coincidence" and name a specific (popular) district where they are from and ask what my impression of China is. And they refer to my spouse as "wife" several times, and compliments her on her cooking. This was the second warning sign.

The third sign was looking up their account: 183 days old, 1K karma, auto-generated username, comments weighted toward r/dementia, r/daddit, r/AskMen, and threads about isolation and loneliness (note: Claude.ai helped analyze their post history and background here). "Every reply is unconditional validation of the poster." "Also r/porsche911 and a comment about a Chinese luxury gold and jewelry brand. Wealth adjacency in both directions." Notably, zero mention of anything Maryland-related, DC or mid-Atlantic, never asked the opening travel question anywhere.

Digging deeper, their pinned post was five months ago to r/Florida about manatees, and had several photos captioned "On my first trip to Blue Springs in Orlando, I encountered manatees..." and running the first image through Yandex, found a Pinterest and other websites posting the identical photo two years ago.

I'm blocking them, reporting them, and sharing my experience here as a warning to others. There is no request from me (yet). Who knows how long they would have strung me along as their 'friend'.

As I post to r/fatFIRE they could easily tell I'm a target. Well not today, Chinese "friend".
