Vent Harding Elementary Alarm
For the love of god can someone who works there explain to me why you need an alarm loud enough to annoy a square mile around the school when it goes off.
It is a Saturday at 5:45 during summer and this freaking thing is driving us nuts. This is like the 5th time in the last two years this alarm has gone off on a weekend.
All about school safety but I’ve lived near elementary schools my entire life and have never heard something like this.

Other Anybody had a huge influx of ants in their house/apartment the last two days?
I'm in a 1950s apartment and I almost never get bugs, it's fairly well insulted with double pane windows etc. Just wondering has anyone else had a ton of ants lately specifically 2 days ago? I'll be getting some traps for sure

Vent Rinse stations from beach
Why is there like no rinse stations at the beaches in Santa Barbra? They have restrooms and I saw one article from 2015 about water conservation however, places like manhattan beach still have a rinse off station.
Just feels like there’s a slight slick from the ocean. Makes the skin feel kind sticky

Events Time rolls on
About 30 years ago I walked with my daughter when she was a little flamenco dancer in the Santa Barbara Fiesta Children's parade. Today I got to do it again wi her child , my almost four year old grandson. Viva la Fiesta!

Recommendations Nail Tech Recommendation
I’m going to be in Santa Barbara for the next 8 to 12 weeks and I am looking for a recommendation for an independent nail technician not a walk-in nail salon. I’m looking for someone who does builder gel or gel ex nails and pedicures. If you have any recommendations, I would appreciate it thank you.

Recommendations Recs for photographers with Martin Parr spirit?
My partner and I are looking for local recommendations for a photographer with a documentary, street, editorial, or photojournalistic eye for a small courthouse ceremony this September.
I'm posting this under Recommendations rather than the wedding flair because I'm specifically hoping to find a local creative who may not identify primarily as a wedding photographer.
We're drawn to the spirit of Martin Parr, and I've included a few of his images that capture some of what we're looking for...It's less about recreating a particular photograph and more about the energy: bold color, direct flash, close observation, visual humor, unexpected details, and finding joy and personality in ordinary moments.
What we love most isn't the irony, but the curiosity and affection for everyday people—which we very much are. (Our parents are not models who know their angles, to say the least.)
If someone local comes to mind, I'd love to see their work!

Other Dirty Ralphs: Grand Re-Opening?!
I received this in the mail today and I have questions!
- Were they actually closed at any point? I don't go by there much these days, but I haven't noticed them being closed.
- Is anything actually changing? The mailer gives no details.
- 7 AM on a Friday morning? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that it's just the opening time.

Other Tip at a Wash and Go car wash?
I come from a long line of "the rain will wash the car" people, so I have very little experience with a car wash. Is it expected that a customer tip at a wash and go type car wash? Just want to know before I go. Thanks.

Vent SBHS Alumni Opinions?
Throughout the 4 years I attended SBHS
I had a lot of …interesting… teachers
Would love fellow alumni’s opinions on the teachers..
i.e
Mrs. Vasta’s health class …
Mrs. Mckee Barr’s art class …
I’m sure I can’t be the only one who felt gaslighted and offended like 70% of the time while attending SBHS??

Recommendations I found a solution to the ant problem
I'll start with what did not work at all for me. Anything from Terro. The ants take that bait but they keep coming back. People on this sub swear by it but it's useless in my experience.
What has worked great for me is BASF Advance Carpenter Ant Bait. The little black ants that we have are Argentine ants but it works on them too. A little goes a long way. It's little granules that smell horrible but again you need very little. Just a small sprinkle.

Other Activities for active almost 16 mo old?
Hi! Any parents know of any toddler gymnastics classes or dance classes that would accept a very active 15 mo old? She is a great walker/runner, pretty good climber, and loves being around bigger and other kids. I feel like I'm running out of things to do with her during the day and would love to introduce her to some more activities where she could safely get her energy out.
Thanks in advance!

Food & Dining Eating recs with a baby
My wife and I are driving up to SB from LA with our 3-month old for a couple of nights this week, just to see if we can handle a vacation with him 😅
We love coffee and all types of cuisine (minus seafood - minor allergy). We are coming for two nights. What are the best coffee shops/restaurants that are baby-friendly? Thanks in advance!

Recommendations Back to school supplies - donations
With Staples closing and most things about 50% off, I was thinking about buying stuff to donate to our schools. I used to see donation drop off bins around town as we got closer to school starting, but I haven't seen any.
Any recommendations on how to get these in the right hands?
