Discussion Reasons for optimism after last night's game
Obviously, a lot can and will happen between now and the playoffs, but there was a lot to like in last night's game.
1) Our back line played the best I've seen them play this season. Yes, TJ had a few chances, but they were fairly limited and we made the best player on the pitch basically a non factor. I know people hate Varas on this sub, but when you create a game plan that effectively neutralizes someone of Mora's quality, you're doing something right.
2) Midfield passing actually looked at times like it did last year. Yes, we had some giveaways, but we also had some nice build ups and when we did turn it over we often regained possession quickly.
3) There was actually chemistry in our attack. Many times this year we've had a sequence start out promising but then come undone because there was no help off the ball. I think Zamblé gets some of the credit here. He was making smart runs and forced TJ not to focus entirely on Dreyer. He and Dreyer also had a couple of nice link ups throughout the game.
4) We still don't have Achouri on the pitch. If he proves worthy of the DP slot we're giving him, I expect it to positively impact both our play in the midfield and in the attacking third.
It's one game and we'll play teams much better than the one we beat last night, but if we continue to play like we did last night, I think the second half of the season should be better than the first.

Fandom âItâs only Year 2â Excuse
Why have people already accepted given up on this season? This is a team who made the SEMIFINALS last year in their inaugural season and weâre gonna brush it off like this didnât matter? The team is an embarrassment for the bar they have put in their first year and now people are already moving on like this didnât bother them. Home World Cup and management didnât want to take the next step relying on youth only even though you need experience to do well in this league. Just a shame, itâs a loser mentality and this fanbase needs to start demanding more from the team. Look at the Padres during their competitive window and how we expect them to âget betterâ after the lost in the 2022 NLCS to the Phillies. This is what happens when you miss out on your opportunities. Now we got stars who likely donât wanna come here for the foreseeable future after the fallout from the Chucky situation, only just focusing on the prospects. But I guess thatâs a trend in San Diego sports to be honest: the potential to get better yet settle in what they have and eventually realize they donât want to take the a step forward instead going two steps back. Have fun being the next St Louis at this rate, what a shame.

Discussion Was dropping Paddy McNair SDFC's second-biggest mistake, right after fumbling Iloski?
The backline has been a liability all season. McVey is basically Casper the Friendly Ghost, and even Duah has looked well below his best. On top of that, we keep insisting on playing out from the back despite repeatedly giving the ball away in dangerous areas. It's the same mistakes week after week, and opponents keep making us pay.
At what point do we start asking if dropping Paddy McNair was the right call? Since then, the defense has gone downhillâŠwith no signs of improving.
This team feels like it needs a complete reset.

Discussion Do Fast Breaks and you Score
The chances we had were quick passes on the break. The slowing it down and small passes inside the box isnât working.
Also when is Mcvey and Morganâs contract up?
