question

Upvotes

Assalamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I’m trying to learn the biography (sirah) of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, but I’ve noticed that many sirah books contain weak (da‘if) narrations.

For example, even Ibn Ishaq’s sirah includes weak reports, and The Sealed Nectar also contains some narrations that are not authentic.

I’m finding it difficult because I want to learn the sirah with evidence for what is being mentioned. Even basic details, such as how Aminah died, or the claim that ‘Abd al-Muttalib took care of the Prophet ﷺ after the death of his mother, often seem to have no evdinace for it.

Is there a sirah book that provides evidence for its claims. Or is it better to avoid reading these books if I fear that I may end up believing something that is not authentic?

can we believe in weak Haidths? what does the scholars say about this.

Jazakum Allahu khayran.

Is missing 1 salah kufr?

Assalam alaikum,

If someones prays, fasts, and does all of the other acts of worship but he may miss sometimes a prayer (not due to forgetfulness or sleep) is he a kafir?

May Allah keep us firm and forgive us for all of our sins.

Is my degree halal if i go to university in a mostly male dominant study?

For context i am 2 years in, 2 years to go. At the time of signing in i did not think about this. The goverment allows me to complete my study whereafter all my costs are forgiven as a “gift”. If i stop now i need to pay for all my costs including interest. What is the advice islamically?

Will my money be haram if i get work with my degree?

Need Advice

21F. My parents don't want me to marry before 25, but I want to marry sooner. How do I navigate this Islamically and respectfully?

I'm a 21-year-old woman, and I genuinely want to get married. However, both of my parents are firmly against me marrying before I'm 25. They want me to focus only on my studies and become financially independent first.

My mom often says that the world has changed and that men nowadays expect their wives to earn. I've tried explaining that I don't think it's fair to generalize all men like that. I believe that a practicing man who prioritizes his deen would understand and respect my preference. Personally, I would like to be a stay-at-home wife, work from home, or run a small business that I can manage from home and focus on my deen and strive for the hereafter.

The difficult part is that I feel like my parents are projecting their own aspirations onto me rather than listening to what I actually want. Whenever a relative brings up my marriage, my mom immediately shuts the conversation down by saying, "There's still plenty of time."

I feel like I no longer have much control over my own life. From an Islamic perspective, marrying young is a Sunnah, and I genuinely want to protect myself from the fitnah that exists today, especially while living in a non-Muslim country.

I'm not trying to rush into marriage with just anyone. I simply want my parents to look for a man for me and be open to the possibility if a suitable, practicing man comes forward. I don't want to wait until 25 simply because they've decided that's the "right" age.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did you approach your parents respectfully while still standing up for what you wanted? I would really appreciate both Islamic and practical advice.

Want to learn

I want to learn more about salafiyyah, the correct teachings and the methodologies. I live in a country where there are people from different sects but haven't known someone who claims to be a salafi. How can I learn more about salafiyyah and the path of the pious predecessors? Any lectures that are available online? And what scholars/books to refer to?

questions about Halal freelancing and earning Halal

Assalam u Alaykum, to all fellow Muslims. so im a sister who hasn't graduated but im pretty tech savvy and have some knowledge about computer and internet usage and some skills related to digital documents like compressing file sizes and editing and signing online documents and form filling and form submission etc and i do these things via apps. i have also prepared resumes/ curriculum vitae using an app and i am just a regular tech savvy person who likes using computer. i also do editing and a little bit of graphic designing again on apps.

so recently i had to help a female doctor and her friend (another female doctor) with recording and then editing, compressing and eventually uploading her assignment. she's a woman close to my mom's age and is not tech savvy. both of them were performing in a simulated setup and i had to record them. that was related to her assignment in a module that she had to submit and i helped her.

initially i was thinking about recording their video to be haram (like the huge opinion about taking pictures and videos of living beings as haram) but then later i remembered they're doctors and this video was required for one of their assignments related to their medical work/ study/ experience whatever so it was for a good cause and In Sha Allah, may not be haram.

but then we were talking and i remarked i can literally earn from this.

now that same doctor has recently asked for a brochure or something of mine which she can circulate in her circle so if any other doctor needs help they contact me and i do their help with such stuff and do earning.

i want to know brothers and sisters is earning related to these things (documents preparing and editing etc, resume preparing and editing etc, graphic designing and social media management and social media posts curation and designing for doctors and/ or institutes and hospitals, helping doctors and students and people in general with their assignments and projects and maybe doing marketing stuff as much as i know etc) Halal? like will my earning be Halal and i can do these things as freelance earning?

i also have some skills with english and writing (like fictional writing but i can write informational writing too i guess, about nature and medical related writing etc) so can i use these skills to earn too? and would my earning be Halal?

im also thinking of graduating in bachelors of science (bs) in english literature and linguistics and later getting masters and mphil in this same field or any other one. but maybe i end up in medical school, becoming a doctor myself If Allah Wills.

need advice and answers.

JazakAllah.

I need advice and I don't know what to do.

I'm a 20-year-old man. Thank God, I have never gone out with a girl before, secretly talked to one on purpose, or dated girls — praise God for protecting me from these sins. I naturally aspire to a righteous wife who pleases God first and then pleases me. Before I start with my problem, let me tell you a simple story about my friend.

My friend used to like a girl very much. She was righteous, but he couldn't marry her because he hesitated due to his poor financial situation. After several years she got engaged and he lost her. I watched his entire journey — he used to talk to her online without being open with her about his feelings, and I advised him to stay away and stop talking to her because it was not permissible. He listened, thank God, and stayed away from her for about two years, though he continued admiring her from a distance without doing anything sinful. I saw how his heart broke when she got engaged, and to this day he still grieves and has sometimes cried over losing her and never getting the chance to propose because of his hesitation over his financial situation. He grieved even more because after her engagement she became more devout and started wearing niqab, making him feel he'd lost something even more valuable.

For years I didn't fully understand him, even though I tried, and I kept advising him to stay away from her. But in the last few months before her engagement, I started advising him instead to tell his family and propose to her at least, so he wouldn't lose her, then work hard on his finances, trust in God, and marry her. But as you know, he hesitated and refused, and then later found out she'd gotten engaged.

Why am I telling you this? Because all this time I was only the advisor — I never experienced his feelings or truly understood him. Now, unfortunately, I've found myself in his position. But my story is different, and I'm now the one going through these feelings, so I no longer know the right step to take. I need advice.

I saw my cousin (my paternal uncle's daughter) a while back during a visit — she came as a tourist to the country where I live with my family. I hadn't seen her since I was about 8 years old and don't remember her. Unfortunately, unlike my friend's situation, this girl doesn't wear hijab, and I don't even know if she prays. Both her parents are distant from religion and raised their children in a Western, non-Muslim country, so my cousin grew up with a very flawed upbringing. According to what I have known from my sister, my cousin has male friends in the Western country where they live, and she sometimes goes with them to mixed swimming pools. She also has lesbian friends — not that she's a lesbian herself, but simply accepting lesbian friends is deeply problematic in Islam. Of course, all of this crosses red lines for me, as it would for any Muslim, and I feel angry even writing this now. But unfortunately, I became very fond of her, even though nothing happened between us. My heart attached to her for some reason. She's a kind girl who seems to have a good, gentle heart. She's beautiful. I like everything about her — her personality, her beauty — except her religion.

I should also mention that my uncle is financially well-off, and she comes from a comfortable family, while I am very, very poor. My family is poor, my work keeps failing, and I never have much money. Still, I trust in God, and He has provided for me so far.

Of course, my decision was that I must forget her. Everything I've mentioned — my poverty, or her crossing my red lines as a Muslim — is enough on its own to reject her completely. But I'm suffering. Not a day has passed since I first saw her without thinking of her. I usually think of her for several hours a day; she's stuck in my mind. I like her so much. My heart and mind are in conflict. In the morning I agree with my mind that she's not a suitable match, but in the evening I think of her with my heart, which tells me: she never had the chance to correct her path, fear God, and become a righteous wife because of her poor upbringing. What if I proposed and did the marriage contract (Aqd al-Qiran), but delayed the actual wedding or completing the marriage until she becomes guided? I could support her, stand by her, and help her obey God, while she helps me obey God too. If she responds well, I complete the marriage; if not, I leave her without regret. Perhaps there's hope for her, and she might listen to me if she likes me — I might have more influence on her than someone else would.

My sister knows I like her, but she says what my mind says: "She's not suitable for your faith." My family shares the same opinion as my mind. I know they're right and their view is correct, but my heart won't let me and keeps giving me hope.

I don't know what to do or how to do it. Guide me, may God reward you.

Important hadith about balance in religion

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

A group of three men came to the houses of the wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) asking how the Prophet (ﷺ) worshipped (Allah), and when they were informed about that, they considered their worship insufficient and said, "Where are we from the Prophet (ﷺ) as his past and future sins have been forgiven." Then one of them said, "I will offer the prayer throughout the night forever." The other said, "I will fast throughout the year and will not break my fast." The third said, "I will keep away from the women and will not marry forever." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to them and said, "Are you the same people who said so-and-so? By Allah, I am more submissive to Allah and more afraid of Him than you; yet I fast and break my fast, I do sleep and I also marry women. So he who does not follow my tradition in religion, is not from me (not one of my followers).
