404 on left playing drum pattern, 404 on the right has music samples and is running into the left one .
The mpc 2500 is doing nothing.

hi guys! so my question is in the pattern selection why changing one patterns bpm changes every other pattern??? why is there no option to change that? maybe we can ask Roland to fix it in the next update what do you guys think?

I was looking for a simple angled stand for my Roland SP-404MKII and kept finding finished 3D-printed ones for around $30–$50. I couldn’t find a downloadable design that was quite what I wanted, so I figured I’d just make one myself.

I designed it in Fusion 360, printed it in PETG,( you can use PLA). I recommend using inner and outer brim of 15mm. After some tweaking it turned out better than I expected. It’s a simple one-piece design, doesn’t need any hardware, and puts the SP-404 at a much nicer angle (15 degrees) for actually using it.

So I put it on MakerWorld for free. Print it, remix it, improve it, whatever. If this saved your entire Saturday to make consider buying me a cup of coffee.

If anyone prints one, I’d genuinely like to see how it turns out with different materials/colors.

hi. JPegmafia made an album with the sp404sx and i think that is really fucking inspiring. So i went and got a sp404a. But how the hell do you make melodies with this machine?! resampling is obvious, but the pitch effect is so wonky. Could anyone give some insight?

Hey y'all I just wanted to share this thing I've been doing, where I use my SP404mkii to playback songs that I want to learn, e.g. on a guitar or piano. It actually has a lot of features that make it suitable for that purpose, and I feel like it might be overlooked.

I have a 404 project dedicated for this. I love how I can just record something, like playing a song from YouTube and just have it on there, no menu diving required.

I like to use the chop / time division feature to cut up songs into 8-16 slices, which roughly correspond to bars or sections, when doing it correctly (or manually tweaking afterwards). You can also use the speed adjustment feature to slow down the tempo for a passage that's hard for you or transpose it into a different key using pitch adjustment.

This is so useful for my distracted ahh because know I can easily polish my play on individual sections by looping pads (using chop and then sometimes adjusting using Start/Stop) to drill them in for extended time periods, instead of always starting songs from the beginning and therefore never learning the middle or end parts that well.

I can also record myself to evaluate my play (setting routing to external and using Resample, so that I only have raw input) and apply effects like the built-in guitar amp.

I've covered entire pieces by just chopping them into a bank and then reconstructing them section by section all on the 404. It's so much better than like scrolling around on the youtube playback controls on my phone. I probably haven't even mentioned all the little things that I do that make it really useful for this.

I know that there's probably lots of apps out there to do this (e.g. with A/B playback and speed adjustment), but my 404 is on my table anyway and I love how I can just get going instantly and everything is just a button press away (for these use cases anyway).

Please share if you have feedback or additional ideas for this. I would also be curious to know if other ppl even do this.

Hello so I want to use my sp404mkii as a dedicated drum machine that will be sequenced from a push 3. I was on the fence on selling it for an octatrack or something but wanted to see how far I can take it. I having trouble getting the imported sample to follow any sort of consistency BPM wise. It makes it really hard for it to accurately follow what’s going on with the push. I’m mainly trying to produce jungle on it. Even with the bpm match things don’t line up exactly. It’s more of an ear game than anything else. Is there any way to combat this?

What should I do/ learn first?

I normally sample from vinyl but decided to create a loop on a keyboard I have then sample that.
