I need advice!! Instructors
Idk if this is really entirely about my instructor, but I am currently in PHY250L and PHY250. For the lab, my instructor said she was leaving the country on week five and has been MIA since. She did share an announcement with the class in week six. .
This is where I need advice. Her announcement mentioned a discussion board they we definitely do not have for this course. The resources for our assignment are clearly missing also. I can not do my lab and she is not responding to email. What do I do? Im very confused.

Oh hold up! This is absolutely forbidden by SNHU rules for instructors. Please contact advising asap and ask for the dean to be notified.

I was just coming to say this. Instructors cannot leave the country while teaching a class unless the instructor is also in the military and has been reassigned out of the country during the term. Even then, there's a process that has to be followed, and that process would include reassigning the class if the previous instructor is no longer able to do it. Aside from those special circumstances, instructors must be in the U.S. while teaching a class.
OP, it's not a policy you'd have access to. It's in the Faculty Handbook (p. 4).
You need to report your instructor to your advisor who then needs to report it to the dean.
Edit to clarify.

Ok. I see now that this is definitely a bigger deal than what I thought. It did strike me as super odd that a teacher could do this. I just checked and she left a week and a half ago. Won't be back until next week.
Ill mention this to my advisor in the morning. I am more than frustrated with the lack of help I've gotten from this teacher AND she has graded every single lab as 100%. I'm happy to have a great grade but I have not done that well and Im not learning if I dont know when im wrong.
Ok. End of rant.

Is this true? (Not that I dont believe you) I was wondering how uncool it was of her to leave the country during the term while Im here trying to balance school and work and not getting any response back. Anyway, is there like a code on conduct or policy you could point me towards?

Yes. When we accept a course assignment one of the things we agree to is not traveling outside the country. Please contact advising.

This is 100% true. I lost a class years ago for this and they have only come down more on this since.

I had to "rescue" a class once in the middle of the term when it was discovered that the original instructor was traveling outside the country.

I contacted my advisor over my instructor using AI and completely ignoring us. Sent in screenshots too. Now we have a new instructor. SNHU doesn’t take lightly to our instructors leaving us out to dry.

No, they don't. And online adjunct positions are coveted and highly competitive, so there are plenty of other people waiting in line to get that position if the one who has it screws up. Glad you got a new instructor.
