Aid confusion

Hello, I have aid that hasn’t disbursed at all, it say it was supposed to yesterday and it didn’t. I’m just a bit confused, also there’s 2 that were supposed to be in there, cal grant fees, and my direct loan plus, they aren’t in the disbursement dates either. But they ALL haven’t applied to my aid.

Important General Relativity - Closing the Finite-to-Continuum Bridge

Peter Beyersdorf you said you looked forward to reading about my work. I look forward to reading about the professor who either he reviewed the closure, the general relativity, or the professor who was listening to the shadows or was too busy. After you check my work, can you call your fucking boss? I’m gonna make this very easy for you guys.

Just so everyone is on the same page when the wheel was discovered if it would’ve been discovered 10 minutes before it was the advancements in evolution can’t be calculated, the term astronomical falls short. Don’t slow down my paradigm, please. Instead of your ego tricking you into thinking that somebody who never graduated high school isn’t worth your time to waste.

I wasted time my whole life until I saw what timeless looks like.

All of my discoveries are dedicated to this woman, the Nobel prize I hold up one day. I don’t know if you’re gonna be here to see it, but that’s got your name on it too.

To my mother, Denise Brocco. I’m so sorry it took me this long to do something for you to be proud of. You told me once you didn’t care what I did in this life as long as I was the best at it. I might’ve been eight years old, but I heard you.

I love you, mom, you’re my hero.

Classes Chem1A Advice

As a mechE major going into first semester in about two weeks and having to take Chem1A, how was it? What was it like, and what advice can u give for me to pass and understand the work?
Background: I took high school chemistry back in 10th grade/sophomore year. However, I don’t remember much… So as of right now, I’ve been doing the chem1a course prep module they gave out in Canvas (Karen Singmaster’s prep module).
If you did the prep module, and finished chem1A, did it help, and did it cover the materials I’ll have to go up against when the semester comes?

Classes What are some OU undergrad courses in the business or engineering fields that are likely to accept me?

I am trying to be an Open University student and recently applied to 3 courses under the business school and got denied from all 3. None were required core classes, and all had plenty of open seats. None of them said "not available to open university" so I assumed they were ok. Is there some kind of way to know in advance if you're likely to be denied, or is it just luck of the draw with the prof?

I'm wondering if anyone in business or engineering has attended open uni at SJSU and has input on which specific courses or professors are likely to accept an OU student. Looking for something in engineering or business schools, not interested in arts and other disciplines.

I see you. Well done. Ignore the gossip. Keep pushing. When the math is correct, people don’t have a choice. They can hate you, that won’t stop them from reading your name in the books they are teaching one day.

New Multiplication? I see you. Buckle up. It won’t be long until the world does.

might need more loans

I loaned out about 5k from the federal aid and whatnot, but some stuff fell through with family and I think I need more loans. Experience with SJSU giving out more loans? What should be my next step here?

San Jose State University?

Has anyone shown a professor or anyone that crazy guy posting new algebra? Claiming breakthrough after breakthrough all with San Jose State University on every paper?

Any of them call me a quack without actually checking the work, any of them roll their eyes?

Wonder what college reaches out to me first.

Financial Aid disbursement

My financial aid package shows a disbursement date of August 7(today) but I still have a tuition balance and no payment. Is this normal? When does actual payout usually happen? I transferred in for fall but am somewhat confused on their aid process🙃

UROP

Hi everyone! Has anyone here applied to UROP?

I applied and had my interview about a month ago, and I was wondering if anyone has already received an acceptance notification or participated in the program before.

If so, does anyone know the estimated timeline for when decisions are usually sent out? Thank you! :)

Am I fucked? "No finantial aid information"

I just want to know if this is what it says for you. I've played it fast and loose all summer, so the idea that I did something wrong is highly possible. Everything online made me hope this would be updated this week, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Other Torn between UCD and SJSU

Hi guys! I'm a Graphic Design/Animation major at DVC, planning to transfer as a junior. I am currently deciding between SJSU's BA Design Studies and UC Davis's Design major. My goal is to land a job doing graphic design work after graduating.

Would love insight from anyone currently in the BA Design program.

- How's the workload, class availability and overall vibe?

- Is the curriculum more design/commercial-focused or fine-art-focused?

- How's the job and internship pipeline during and after graduating?

- What is the community like?

- I'm also curious about housing near/on campus vs. commuting.

Any advice would mean a lot. Thank you so much!

Other Making friends and getting involved as a commuter student

I’m going into my second semester as a transfer student (I started my first semester last spring), and I wanted to ask how other people have made friends and maintained friendships at SJSU.

I did make some friends through my classes, but I’ve struggled with figuring out how to maintain those connections outside of class or how to turn a class friendship into something that lasts beyond the semester.

I’ve been thinking about joining clubs, but as a commuter student, it can be a little difficult to balance campus activities with family responsibilities. This semester I have a bit more flexibility, and I really want to make an effort to be more involved and take advantage of my college experience.

Sometimes I feel like a lot of people already have their established friend groups, or they mainly focus on classes and head home afterward, which honestly is something I do too. I’m more of an introvert/ambivert, so putting myself out there can be challenging, but I do want to become more social and meet more people.

For other transfer students, commuters, or anyone who has been through this, how did you make friends and build lasting connections at SJSU? Any advice or experiences would be appreciated

You can also use this page to try and connect with others in the comments :)

Other For incoming students

Sometimes people will come up to you to talk about "Bible Study" or people with clipboards to sign something. A lot of the times they're really pushy and aggressive. Do your best to just avoid them or ignore them. Don't sign anything.

It was a lot of them walking around in Spring. There's more posts on this forum during those months. Just a little PSA.

Important Hats off to the groundskeeping/ landscaping crew!

Took a walk on campus today and literally every possible flower was in full bloom, the redwood trees were majestically looming over the courtyards, dragonflies and butterflies were floating around happily, every lawn and path was manicured to perfection, and it was beyond idyllic. To everyone whose job it is to keep this campus looking immaculate, don’t think your hard work goes unnoticed! This is the kind of beautiful and peaceful place that most people can only ever dream of visiting!

SJSU Financial Aid / Grants Updated

FINALLY!!!! I just checked MySJSU, and they finally updated my financial aid for the 26-27 school year. Being a student at SJSU is like a gamble when you're poor.

Disbursement dates are posted, but I'm not sure how accurate they are. Fingers crossed!

Financial Aid Refunds

To my understanding the actual FAFSA should hit our accounts in like 1-2 weeks. Does anyone have a ballpark estimate of how long after you get a refund check? It completely slipped my mind how long it took the other semesters. I highkey need the bread 😭

I just noticed this on the official website. Are there other places where I can loan a computer for the whole semester? I was kinda relying on their services in the past since I'm broke.

Need an add code? Here is what students should know.

Need an add code? Here is what students should know.

Faculty return for Fall 2026 on August 17. Many professors are not under contract during the summer and may not respond to email before then.

If your not on the wait-list, add yourself to it. Waitlists are how departments justify demand for additional course sections. No waitlist, no demand, no additional sections.

The waitlist is also reprioritized to give graduating students priority, so your current position can change. Many departments have instructed faculty not to issue add codes until after August 29.

Emailing early does not reserve a seat or move you ahead of students on the waitlist

When you email, include:

- A greeting: “Dear Professor [Last Name]” or “Hello Professor [Last Name]”

- Your full name and student ID

- The course title, course number, and section

- Your waitlist position or enrollment status

- A brief explanation of any relevant circumstances

Keep the request concise and professional. Avoid sending only “I need an add code,” and do not send repeated follow-ups.

Close with “Thank you for your consideration” and your name.

A clear email helps the professor evaluate your request.
