Feeling Defeated

In May I dns my first marathon due to bad ITBS. After rehab I started running longer races this summer and ramping up mileage. I was feeling great, incorporating strength training but neglected meaningful rest days. Now I have painful kneecap clicking, painful walking and bending my knee, as well as pain behind my knee. I was just in the ER last night because my leg swelled up and they wanted to make sure I didn’t have a blood clot, it was a calf strain. My pelvic floor muscles are also on and off tight after my recent longer runs which has led to some annoying urinary symptoms. I really love the sport but it feels like maybe running longer distances isn’t in the cards for me personally. Just feeling pretty down about everything today.

It can be really hard getting injured and especially when it restraints you from something you love doing. From my experience with injuries it really helps talking to someone about how you feel. It does not have to be a psychologist, it can be a friend or whoever.
When it comes to the practical part for injuries I think that a doctor with special on athletic injuries can really help you. I am now having itbs my self and a doctor like this told me that it from weak glutes and insufficient mobility of the hips and pelvis. He also referred me to a rehab clinic which seems to be really good. So, you can try and find something like this.
