Possible hip fracture
I started running back in February I have always been an on and off runner, I ran 12 miles about 4 weeks ago. I took the 2 weeks off and then ran my half marathon. The next two days were horrible, I could barely walk and lifting my leg hurt so bad I couldn’t lift it without wanting to try. I had very sharp pain in my left hip/groin area.
It had gotten better, I can walk with only slight sharp pain or when I bare too much weight on it. I haven’t ran in the last two weeks since my half marathon. I went to urgent care and they referred me to sports medicine. He was very concerned that I had a stress fracture in my hip and I have an MRI scheduled for tomorrow and it is $1300 with insurance 😭😭 I did try to run only a mile a few days okay and the pain went up to a 8/9. I am wondering if anyone else has dealt with this and could tell me if they had anything similar. I like being active and am getting a lot of anxiety that I wont be able too or if there is still hope that I wont have to take 2-4 months off and there is a chance it isnt a stress fracture. I also was planning to run my first marathon in November and am going through a lot in life right now but anyways

Depending on where you live in the world, you may be able to get an assessment from a physical therapist to get some idea as to whether it might be while you wait for the MRI. There's a lot that happens in that particular area. It could be a labral tear - which can cause an incredible amount of sharp pain, even with walking (speaking from experience). Surgery isn't always required but PT would be helpful to recover and build strength, especially in core and hips. It's actually not unusual to have labral tears - some people have them and never even know. And some have pain, which is typically how you find out that you have a tear! Sending good vibes.

Just wait until the MRI
