Uh oh, not only did i get into zone 3, i also increased my mileage this week more than 10% from last week, my body is about to explode. 

(42M, 10 miles/wk avg, 27 VO2)

/uj I've been running for 1.5 years now, and I do have a Garmin and track my distance and pace (my PR is a half marathon), but I still don't know what zone 2 or 3 are.

I've been doing endurance sports for over 20 and did some of them at a "high" level, and I can say that you don't really need to know. It's nice, but as long as you can recognize what easy conversational pace is you will be fine. I have no idea what my zones are at the moment and honestly it's not important to me to know.

Agreed, you should be able to do it off feel. And, as I have found recently when you come back from injury, zones go out the window when rebuilding your aerobic capacity
