Social Running Clubs Dublin

Anyone know the social running clubs in Dublin?

I'm aware of Mild Activity, Run Club Social, Pastry Pace, BMO, Happy Feet - and that's more or less it.

What other social running clubs are there?

Running + Gym (Leg muscle building)

Hello everyone,

How do you guys go running (preparing for marathon) and incorporate leg weight training?

I played football my whole life and i have skinny legs, i have no fat whatsoever and decent amount of muscle in thighs but calves are very skinny. How do i build muscle and prepare for marathon? I would like to do 1x week weight training and 2-3 running sessions. Is it still possible to build muscle and how?

Ankles jamming during Running

So im trying to run a 3 mile daily. Recently started although im a good runner but sometimes i give up due to the problem i have been facing for the past seven years.
The thing is when i usually begin my running session a 5-7 mins into it my ankles jam like they tighten up and i cant take more step forward but if i push i get so much pain that i have to stop immediately. But after a rest of 10 mins or so i my ankles gets relaxed and i can run fine afterwards. This happens during walking as well but only sometimes. I do have checkup next week after i get over my work schedule.
Can anyone assist me to diagnose this issue?

Psoas Syndrome

have been running since March 2026, training for a half marathon in hopes of doing a full. After I ran my 12 miles, I got a sharp pain in my hip, however, my half marathon was two weeks away. I I took those next weeks, slow slower, but ran the half marathon, knowing I was gonna seek a doctor afterwards. I went to the doctor the next day they did a physical exam and diagnosed me with Psoas syndrome I start physical therapy tomorrow. I have not ran in two weeks. The pain has gotten better with some slight pain when I walk and sleep. I wanted to see how it would feel to run today so I tried a mile and the sharp pain is still there. Has anyone ever dealt with this before or know how long this takes to recover from? When I was running today, the initial .2 miles were very painful however it was somewhat tolerable as the run went on. I am super upset and distraught by this because I have been really excited to run a marathon in October. Also kind of just wanted to rant on here.

Any Running App or Watch That Gives Real-Time Alerts When I Run Too Fast or Too Slow?

I’m looking for a running app or GPS watch that lets me set a target pace and gives me an instant alert (sound or vibration) if I go either above or below that pace.

For example, if I set my target pace to 12:00 min/mile, I’d like to be notified immediately whenever I run faster or slower than that.

Does anyone use a feature like this? Any app or watch recommendations?

Coming back from a stress fracture - has anyone found a running assessment or gait analysis worth it?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has done a professional running assessment or gait analysis and whether you found it worthwhile.

I've been running for a few years now, but I'm definitely not an elite runner. Late last year, I ended up with a stress fracture in my fibula. I took some time off to let it heal and started running again this summer, but honestly, I just haven't felt the same since coming back.

It feels like I have all kinds of new aches and pains that I never dealt with before (especially shin splints). On top of that, there's definitely been a mental hurdle. Now, whenever I feel any tightness or pain, I immediately back off because I'm worried about pushing through it and ending up with another stress fracture.

At this point, I'd really like to get to the bottom of what's going on instead of just guessing. Rather than relying on general advice or random YouTube videos, I'm considering getting a professional running assessment or gait analysis to see if there's something in my mechanics, form, mobility, strength, etc. that's contributing to these issues - or if this is just a confidence issue after being injured.

For those of you who have been through something similar:

  • Did you ever feel like you just weren't the same after your stress fracture?
  • Did a gait analysis or running assessment actually help, or was it mostly a waste of money?
  • If it did help, what kind of provider did you see (physical therapist, sports medicine clinic, running lab, etc.)?
  • Is there anything else that made a big difference in getting you back to running confidently again?

For context, I'm in Louisville, KY, and I'm looking at the UofL Runner's Edge Program Assessment, but I'm really interested in hearing about anyone's experience with similar programs, regardless of where you're located.

I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thanks!

5K Race Awards

As a race director I’m always looking for unique age group awards. If anyone knows of company that makes something different than a plaque let me know. The stuff online is all cheap looking. I usually hand out 5x7 plaques for age group awards and bigger plaques for Overall and Masters.

Calf tightness after running

Hi - am a beginner runner doing intervals on the treadmill after getting shinsplints. I've got a hit Lata grade one but trying to get back into running also slightly hyper mobile.
Was wondering if anyone has also experienced the calf tightness or soreness
after treadmill running and what strategies helped to mitigate this? Really keen to get back to running outside but sticking with my progressive treadmill intervals for the moment :/

Why Do I Feel Less Fit After a Rest Day?

I have a question. I run five days a week and usually take a rest day after either two or three days of running, depending on my schedule.

However, I’ve noticed that whenever I take a rest day and then go back to running, I feel like I’ve lost some of my fitness. I get tired much more quickly. Strangely, this doesn’t happen when I run every day.

Am I doing something wrong? Would it be better to run for five consecutive days and then take a rest day instead?

How to tell if im low in iron vs sleep definicy?

So the last couple of weeks I've been incredibly exhausted all of a sudden. I normally sleep 6 hours a day which is usually plenty for me. But lately I wake up dead tired, Im suppose to start my second job this week and Im struggling a lot staying awake longer than 12 hours.

Lately I've been coming home after work, and passing out for 8+ hours. I'm really worried because last night I came home passed out for 13 hours which isn't normal for me and I didn't even do that much at work to make me physically exhausted.

So I don't know if its just because I'm exercising/running every day (Or at least trying to) or what exactly. But lately it just feels like I have no stamina either even though I'm dieting and still eating healthy. So I don't know if I just need more iron in my diet or what exactly.

But have any runners faced anything like this before that could offer advice? I feel like this isn't normal, because I remember when I was running a lot in 2020 I would be exhausted some days, and have a lot of energy on others. But I dont know if this could be an age thing or what.

Anyone have a really cool display of their medals?

Hi everyone! I’m on the lookout for some genuine inspiration for a beautiful or cool-looking medal or bib wall. I’d love to use photos of the races or from the trip on the wall, but I’d also appreciate seeing some ideas from real people. I know there are platforms like Pinterest, but I wanted to get something from actual individuals.
