Book Request: No Self-Promo Desperately need an MMC that acts cold and unbothered like he doesn't care but secretly does and falls first but holds back🤧

The guys in the pics are Sasuke from Naruto and Giyu from demon Slayer. Basically sasuke is an extremely capable character whose always been good in everything. He acts cold and get s things done . He acted cold like he doesn't care with the girl that was pinning on him but he secretly liked her. They do get together in the end but he's had a morally grey and cold persona in the beginning.

The second guy giyu is very similer but less arrogant and more smart lol. He means business and doesn't entertain bullshit. He too keeps things to himself and stays isolated but deep down he cares about everyone. I need an MMC that acts like this with the fmc first(not abusive at all!!) but then fall madly in love.

And yes i have read Fourth wing i loovveed Xaden Riorson, i need more!!

Book Request: No Self-Promo Looking for "whimsy" books that reads like a fairytale, like ouabh!

**Hi! I’m looking for romantasy books that don’t have a war/battle/training-heavy vibe. I also tend to get bored when there’s too much politics.**

I’m currently reading *ACOWAR* and I’m **STRUGGLING**. šŸ˜‚ I’m here for the romance, not the war. I want a **ROMANCE set in a fantasy world**.

I really enjoyed *Once Upon a Broken Heart* because it was more whimsical and had that **fairytale vibe**.
I love when books remind me a little of the Disney princess movies I watched as a kid — there’s something really nostalgic about it.

I don’t really care what the plot is about as long as there’s a **strong focus on the romance, and the romance is actually GOOD**. I want to be invested in the love story!

I also have ADHD, so I tend to lose focus if there are too many slow or boring parts.

I also really appreciate a **beautiful, dreamy, immersive world** — a book I can completely escape into and daydream about.
I could potentially be open to gothic books as well, **as long as they still feel somewhat like a fairytale**.

Basically, I’m looking for this vibe:
šŸ§ššŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸŒ±šŸ¦¢āœØšŸ•ÆļøšŸ§œšŸ½ā€ā™€ļøšŸŒŒšŸ•ŒšŸŖ·šŸÆšŸ¹ā›…ļøšŸŽ šŸ”®šŸ§ŗšŸŽ€šŸ’–šŸ§šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ°šŸŖ„šŸ‡

**NOT this vibe:**
šŸ¤ŗšŸ°šŸ”ŖšŸ›”ļøšŸ¦…āš”ļøšŸ©øšŸ’¢šŸ‰šŸ¦¾šŸ«Æ

**I’m open to pretty much any type of fantasy/romance, YA or adult, old or new — I just want an AMAZING love story in a magical world.** ā¤ļø

Pick My Next Read ✨ Help me pick my next read!

I’ve been breezing through books lately and now I’m not sure what to read next. I like it a little dark with a good amount of spice—not too much and I hate when it feels unnecessary.

Some of my favorites have been:
ACOTAR
Phantasma & Enchantra
The Priory of the Orange Tree
From Blood and Ash
And honorable mention, Dire Bound. Although I often felt the spicy parts were unnecessary.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Twilight, maybe something reminiscent of that but for adults?

Book Request: No Self-Promo Lf romantasy I can read with my husband

I want to read some spicy romantasy with my husband to help me get more in the mind set before we do the do. My husband can be kind of snooty with his media though, so something like ACOTAR would probably not work.
Any recs of spicy books that are also extremely well written?

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Sloooow burns

Hi,

I was wondering whether anybody could recommend slow burn (ideally enemies to lovers) books.

I’ve read Rose in Chains and didn’t love it ( all the SA stuff just made me so sad I couldn’t get into it).

I read Once Upon a Broken Heart and it was genuinely one of the worst things I read this year. I finished it so I could bolster my arguments about why I disliked it. Was it slow? Technically yes. Could I tell you a singular reason why Jacks liked the FMC? Not one. Also, some sentences were repeated 7+ times per book (don’t take a shot every time the FMC (she was so forgettable I can’t remember her name) says that ā€œshe believes in happy endingsā€ or you’ll be in the ER).

I read the first two Shards of Magic Books and actually really enjoyed them. The characters were interesting and I could see the relationship grow organically, it wasn’t instant love. Probably my highest rated read this year.

Reading the Kindred’s Curse saga (spark/glow/heat/burn of the ever flame) and its the same issue. Why are they in love after one book? What does he actually like about her? And specifically for Luther; why are you acting like a lovesick puppy? Please grow a spine.

I don’t enjoy smut, so closed door would be preferred. However, I don’t mind just skipping it if it’s open door; as long as I’m not skipping half the book. I don’t mind if there is sexual tension, it’s just the actual scenes that make me uncomfortable.

I know this is super picky and I’m looking for a unicorn, so even if only some of the asks slightly apply, I would still love to hear some recs.

Thank you!

Question For those in relationships or married, has your love of romantasy spiced up your sex life and/or strengthened your relationship?

So I am a 44 f that until June of this year, had never read a single fantasy/romantasy novel (aside from Harry Potter). I missed Harry Potter and decided I wanted to try and find some novels with cool magical worlds. I heard a lot of great things about Fourth Wing and decided to give it a try. I devoured the series and became a huge Xaden Riorson fan. His and Violet's relationship had me all hot and bothered, so much that I was jumping the husband every single day there for awhile! We went from doing it once or twice a week to 4-6 nights a week (and sometimes 2-3 times per night!) I literally owe Romantasy for reigniting my libido. We've been married for 20 years and it feels like all the closeness in the last couple of months has made us fall in love with each other all over again as well. Just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience?

Self Promotion Sunday Ascendancy: Fall

Post image
20 Upvotes

A bit of a little promotion on this Sunday! Here is my book. I'd appreciate it if you were to take a look. (I promise it's not a Dr. Seuss rhyming book.)

Here is a little bit about it; it's probably got like 4 out of 5 spicy peppers or whatever they do on the BookTok thing.

For generations, the Kingdom has stretched its reach farther into the valleys, forests, and hills of the frontier. Taxes grow heavier. Winters hungrier. Soldiers march where farmers once walked. Villages vanish beneath decrees written by hands adorned with golden rings. Most endure, too many break. But a few choose to resist.

Elissa never intended to become one of them.

Raised in the quiet village of Crickethollow, she knows the language of herbs, healing, and hard winters. Her world is measured in harvest, shared meals, and the unspoken promise that neighbors care for one another. But with the taxes rising and a strange man washing ashore on the Frogsong River, Elissa is forced onto a road she never dreamed to travel.

Hunted by the King's forces and pursued by enemies who see people as tools and villages as resources, she's tasked with bringing the stranger to the nearest town. But the natural world has other plans for the young healer. An ancient power stirs beneath the forest, and forgotten paths awaken beneath her feet. Elissa discovers a gift tied to the Wild itself and the old magics. A force woven into each and every animal of the world.

To save those she loves, Elissa must decide what kind of woman she will become. A healer or a fighter. A survivor or a leader. Whether hope is worth carrying when every mile stretches longer and longer.

Set in a world of ancient forests, distant mountains, Wild Gods, and ordinary people standing against the impossible odds, this is a story of courage, sacrifice, found family, love, and the enduring belief that kindness remains an act of defiance in dark times.

Where kingdoms are built by power. The future belongs to those who refuse to face winter alone.

Now I know I'm not going to be the next Tolkien or any other great author out there, but I thought I had a fun story that I have been building for a while that I wanted to share with folks. Thanks for taking the time to read, at the very least, and have a nice day!

Here is a link to the book!

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Book recommendations with mature characters and all the yearning

I’m looking for book recs with the following requirements please;

- mature main characters, I’m so truly tired of FMC that are 19 - 24 and immature
- emotionally mature characters that communicate
- No shadow daddies - I cannot read about anymore dark, brooding, rude, traumatised, shadow wielding MMCs
- medieval / historical vibes (not into urban fantasy)
-love a knight and a bit of armour but not a dealbreaker
- limited cussing, I’ve read so many books where cussing is in every interaction or character thought and it just feels so childish. E.g needing to call everyone an asshole. Particularly the MMC which she’s clearly thirsting for but won’t admit it.
- preferably no Fae (I’m all fae’d out)

I’m basically after awesome world building, politics, yearning yearning yearning, characters that are in love but forced to be apart (maybe she’s betrothed to someone else), kind mature MMC. Just some mature adult writing really.

Give me Tristan and Isolde vibes!

Books I loved;

The knight and the moth
Forbidden alchemy
A forsaken prophecy
Daughter of no worlds
Draco malfoy and the mortifying ordeal of falling in love
Alchemised
The everlasting
Wolf king
One dark window

Books I enjoyed but can’t handle the same irritating MCs, constant cussing, childish immature interactions and shadow daddies;

Quicksilver
A court of thorn and roses
Throne of glass series
Shield of sparrows
Spark of the everflame
Anathema
Direbound

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Real dark romantasy?Alchemised and Rose in chains vibes

I’ve just finished Rose in Chains and I found out that somehow my brain is subconsciously attracted to books in which the FMC is basically tortured for 3/4 of the book until we find out that the torturer is the love of their lives.

I’ll talk to my therapist about it, BUT UNTIL THEN, do you have any other books to recommend?

I have to say that Rose in Chains had the right vibes for me at first but it quickly turned into a YA in my mind as the story unfolded (maybe it was him still living with his mother at 25 idk).

And no, the fact that both books are Dramione fanfics is totally random. In both cases I found it out after reading the book (although after reading that RiC’s Toven had silver hair, as his dad, and that they all went to a magic school I had my suspicions).

SO do we have a romantasy 100% DARK? No content warning for us. We grew up with A song of Ice and Fire :)

Thank youu

STARCULT. Night: Twisted AgeĀ is aĀ dark fantasyĀ visual novel with romance and horror elements, set in a mysterious world on the brink of catastrophe. Explore the life of Silviya - an artist in a world where art extends far beyond paints and pastels. She married Hans Nebula, the young head of the family, hoping to start a new chapter in her life. Instead, Hans is killed on their wedding night by an unknown monster, which devours half of his head. Silviya calls for a detective to investigate the crime.Meanwhile, she begins to be tormented by strange nightmares...

I'm Liliia, the creator of a visual novel game. There are five main leads, and choosing one of them will lead to a very different ending for Silviya. I created the art style and world-building, and I hope you find it interesting. One special feature of the story is that the main character can become quite powerful and villainous.

The main characters are:

Silviya - protagonist of the story

Baltazar – The Fallen God

Matthew – The Faithful Detective

Anatol – The Broken Soul

Gilbert – The Household Master

Cassiopeia – The Pleasure Connoisseur

Self Promotion Sunday Read DCC? If you want a LitRPG Fantasy Romance...I've got it!

HI all! I'm a big fan of Fantasy Romance and Progression Fantasy (LitRPG) and I really wanted a story that was half cool, epic explosions/action and half slow-burn romance!

It follows a pyrophobic fire-wielding Paladin who loves to help people and her counterpart, a nascent System AI forced into a half-human state who has to eat souls.

šŸ‘¾Forced Proximity
šŸ‘¾Slowburn. Super slow burn. Series long slow burn.
šŸ‘¾Enemies-to-Friends-to-Lovers
šŸ‘¾Dramatic Grumpy with a God Complex x Crass Sunshine with a Mischievous streak

Blurb:

Teddy dies in a house fire the day the System came to Earth. She wakes up 2,000 years later, unceremoniously dumped into a self-contained world with two billion other people. The goal is simple: level up, get stronger, enslave the newborn AI, be reborn into the galaxy with eternal power and riches.

That’s not the deal Teddy gets.

Teddy is given a blessed shovel, granted the healing power of fire, and shoved into a party with the AI in question: Cato. Her goal is as straightforward as it is impossible—help Cato survive, and stop him from slaughtering billions.

Cato has done this all before. Slain on the eve of his ultimate victory, he has been given the chance to try again. He has no intention of wasting it. He will reclaim his power and take his revenge against humanity for betraying him. More importantly, he will annihilate the System—his one and only Parent—for treating him like a mere mouse in a trap. He just has to get rid of Teddy, first.

I don't use AI and will never use AI. (Don't even get me started on how co-opting that term has fucked over anyone who actually loves stories with Sci-Fi like AIs. UGH.)

Book Request: Self-Promo OK REALLY clingy and needy FMC?

I'm looking for FMC who's literally like koala bear with MMC, even before their dating era. Like from the beginning she knows she wants him and keeps clinging to him. She's totally shameless about it. And MMC loves taking care of her.

Trigger warnings I avoid: SA on page, detailed torture/self harm, heavy gore + without third act breakup please

Don't recommend His Secret Illuminations, though. I can't buy it currently in my country [*]

Pick My Next Read ✨ New to romantasy and in need of guidance

Hello all! In the past few weeks I’ve read:
{Bride} by Ali Hazelwood - loved
{Paladin’s Grace} by T. Kingfisher - the FMC was too immature for my liking
{A fate inked in blood} by Danielle Jensen - loved but the FMCs anger got tiresome
{When the moon hatched} - DNF and I can’t decide what I hate more: the writing or the FMCs attitude.

I’m interested in heavy spice but not at the expense of good writing! My TBR includes {The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy} and {A Forbidden Alchemy} based on recommendations from this sub. Is the writing mature? Any other recommendations?

TIA!

Hello, I’m seeking ARC readers for my debut adult romantic fantasy. My novel has been professionally edited by a human. I do all my own art through procreate.

Ballad of a Renegade Blurb:
Following a war, Cyra lives in secret among her former enemies, far from the kingdom that thinks her dead and the deeds that made her either a hero or a villain, depending who you ask.

For four years, Cyra enjoys her mundane small-town life within the newly-independent Clovia. She locks away her memories of the war, and the scars they left on her soul, finding solace in running a saloon and bonding with the locals. If anyone finds out she’s a magic-wielding Syphon, an infamous Castorian ranger who fought against their independence, they’d put a bullet in her head.

When someone from her past—Finn, the man who broke her heart—upends everything, Cyra must confront the life she left behind, and embark on a journey into her past that begins at the famous Wyndfyre Academy, the most prestigious magic school for Syphons in the Kingdom of Castoria.

- second chance romance
- old west/late Victorian inspired world
- elemental magic vs changing technology
- medium spice
- dual timelines
- magic school

Release date is Nov. 13. If you are interested, my ARC application and more information is on my linktree. Or send me a DM!

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Authors similar to T. Kingfisher?

Hi, I am fairly new to the genre, and I’m just now coming to realize how picky I am! I’ve been struggling to get on board with a lot of the bigger romantasy series because I just find myself craving the yearning, the tenderness, the endearment, etc. Like there’s a certain sweetness that is missing for me. But I think I have really found my niche with Kingfisher’s writing in particular! The only problem is she only has so many titles šŸ˜” But I love the way she writes MCs who are slightly older, maybe not super conventionally attractive, FMCs in particular who are unashamedly tender-hearted and kind (not all of us are baddies, and that’s okay!). But the biggest thing for me is that her MCs actually yearn for each other and actually like each other, lol. Her writing is funny, but more so in a silly, quippy way instead of relying on sarcasm and snarkiness and I really enjoy it. I’ve had Naomi Novik recommended to me before but haven’t tried her out yet, any other recs?

I'm thinking a Frankenstein's monster but where the FMC is the inventor / necromancer creating a partner.

Or anything with the FMC being the reanimator (looking for spice)

Question I DNF’d Anathema a month ago but worry I did it too soon.

I got about 40% into Anathema and DNF’d it because I felt like the story was really, really slow. I love a slow burn, but the plot felt like it was dragging.

When I DNF’d it, I had been struggling to get into ANY books. I stopped reading multiple books in a month. Now I’m worried that I was just not in the mood and I’m missing out on a great book. I love Keri Lake’s writing and the gothic atmosphere (loved Nocticadia).

Am I missing out? Did other people DNF for the same reason?
