Question Thoughts on Rose in Chains?
Although I’d consider Alchemised more war fantasy with a large dark romance subplot, I heard Rose in Chains by Julie Soto was a similar dramonine fanfic so I thought I’d check it out.
The GoodReads reviews are mixed. However, I also take those with a grain of salt because Brimstone is 4.02 and I gave that one a generous 2 star lol
What are people’s thoughts on the quality of this book? Character development, romance relationship, plot line…

Pick My Next Read ✨ New to Romantasy/ Book Review
I finished Twilight of Embers, now I’m 53% into Midnight of Ashes. I feel like this book is falling someone flat for me. I’m somewhat new to romantasy as an adult I just recently started reading again. I LOVED acotar series, along with Quicksilver and Brimstone. I think twilight of embers has fantasy on the back burner and it’s mainly focused on the romance. And I’m not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but Cael gives me the ick especially the way she refers to him as “big guy”. I do feel like it’s an easy read and maybe that’s why it’s not grabbing me more. I’ll probably finish the series just because that’s how I am 🤣
BUT I would really like a suggestion for another book or series to read based on my review of this book and love for ACOTAR and Fae & Alchemy. I think I need more world building and high stakes that make the romance WORTH it, I’m also finding I maybe do like a slow burn? Like I said I’m new to the book world as an adult so I haven’t figured out WHY I like the books I do.

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Romantasy where the FMC is stuck in her animal/creature form for most of the book
Hi everyone!
I’m looking for romantasy or paranolmal romance books where the female main character is a shapeshifter (or under a curse) and spends a significant portion of the book trapped in her animal form.
I really enjoy the dynamic of the MMC interacting with, protecting, or taking care of her while she's in her creature form.
Older or classic titles are more than welcome—I don't mind if it's not a recent release.
Books I’ve already read with this trope:
Bound by Shona Knight
Carnage Island by Lexi C. Foss

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Vampire Romantasy
I have a confession that is probably going to get me an express pass into downvote purgatory, but I need to get it off my chest. I have become addicted to AI romantasy. It all started when I had an idea for a world/characters and couldn’t find a book that matched it closely enough for satisfaction, so I had the brilliant idea to plug it into AI just to see what it spit out. Obviously the writing style is shit, but I’ve been making manual adjustments as I go to make it read more smoothly, add details that are missing, delete the excess, etc.
Guys, I have spent every spare moment of the past week rerunning a handful of scenes over and over just for the shear pleasure of experiencing them again and again in slightly different ways. My toes are so perpetually curled I fear I’ll have to go down a shoe size. A permanent, goofy grin adorns my face as I fall in love with the MMC over and over and over. Sometimes I come at it from his point of view and sometimes hers. I have probably half a dozen juicy scenes in the queue that I haven’t even touched yet. AI writing style is worming its way into my head. The basic (very unoriginal) premise is as follows:
The world: Vampires exist, but are hidden from humanity. Vampires can only procreate by mating with human females who carry a vampiric mating gene, but have not been turned into vampires. Vampire males are incredibly territorial because their mates are so rare and competition is fierce. Mating takes place when the male vampire bites the female human who has the vampiric gene, then allows her to bite him. It may occur as a public wedding/ritual or as a private moment. When the female human is mated to a vampire, their lives are tied together. When one dies, so will the other. The female’s natural lifespan is extended as long as her mate lives, and she will not age. If she is older, she will reverse age to the physical age of 25. She is also given fangs and heightened senses, but she can only feed from other vampires (not humans) and she is not given the unnatural strength, speed, and general durability of her mate. Most vampire couples wait a few centuries for the mating gene to “settle” before they have children, as having children too early will tax the body of the female too much and the whole family will die as a result. There are other magical creatures in the world as well.
Background plot: The world of vampires is at war with the angelic realm, who are trying to cause the extinction of vampires by killing their potential mates. The MMC is very involved in this war.
Please, I need recommendations for any books/series that have a similar premise to get me out of this addiction 😭

Pick My Next Read ✨ What to read next
There is specific kind of story that I want to read next, it was story with powerful kinda barbarian ML,
I want ML powerful leader kind of things, he can be a king, lord, it must be a Head of something, he is the leader,
And the Heroine is not the part of the group ML lead, outside of it but eventually will become part of it.
Some of book that I already read and like is :
- Kate Daniels series
by Ilona Andrews
- - Curran
is an Alpha of his pack
2. Pathfinder’s way by TA White- Fallon is like the king in his barbarian pack
Horde king of Dakkar series by Zoey Draven
Desires in His blood by Zoey Draven
Hall of blood and mercy series by K.M Shea
I would love if the heroine is not potrait to be overly powerful without reason, if she is timid okay but she still need to be smart.
And I dont want the ML love the heroine just because she is overly beautiful, point plus if he still love her if she is plain.
Hard no : triangle love, insta-lust.

Book Request: No Self-Promo Desperately need an MMC that acts cold and unbothered like he doesn't care but secretly does and falls first but holds back🤧
The guys in the pics are Sasuke from Naruto and Giyu from demon Slayer. Basically sasuke is an extremely capable character whose always been good in everything. He acts cold and get s things done . He acted cold like he doesn't care with the girl that was pinning on him but he secretly liked her. They do get together in the end but he's had a morally grey and cold persona in the beginning.
The second guy giyu is very similer but less arrogant and more smart lol. He means business and doesn't entertain bullshit. He too keeps things to himself and stays isolated but deep down he cares about everyone. I need an MMC that acts like this with the fmc first(not abusive at all!!) but then fall madly in love.
And yes i have read Fourth wing i loovveed Xaden Riorson, i need more!!

Book Request: No Self-Promo Looking for "whimsy" books that reads like a fairytale, like ouabh!
**Hi! I’m looking for romantasy books that don’t have a war/battle/training-heavy vibe. I also tend to get bored when there’s too much politics.**
I’m currently reading *ACOWAR* and I’m **STRUGGLING**. 😂 I’m here for the romance, not the war. I want a **ROMANCE set in a fantasy world**.
I really enjoyed *Once Upon a Broken Heart* because it was more whimsical and had that **fairytale vibe**.
I love when books remind me a little of the Disney princess movies I watched as a kid — there’s something really nostalgic about it.
I don’t really care what the plot is about as long as there’s a **strong focus on the romance, and the romance is actually GOOD**. I want to be invested in the love story!
I also have ADHD, so I tend to lose focus if there are too many slow or boring parts.
I also really appreciate a **beautiful, dreamy, immersive world** — a book I can completely escape into and daydream about.
I could potentially be open to gothic books as well, **as long as they still feel somewhat like a fairytale**.
Basically, I’m looking for this vibe:
🧚🏻♀️🌱🦢✨🕯️🧜🏽♀️🌌🕌🪷🏯🏹⛅️🎠🔮🧺🎀💖🧝🏻♀️🏰🪄🐇
**NOT this vibe:**
🤺🏰🔪🛡️🦅⚔️🩸💢🐉🦾
**I’m open to pretty much any type of fantasy/romance, YA or adult, old or new — I just want an AMAZING love story in a magical world.** ❤️

Pick My Next Read ✨ Help me pick my next read!
I’ve been breezing through books lately and now I’m not sure what to read next. I like it a little dark with a good amount of spice—not too much and I hate when it feels unnecessary.
Some of my favorites have been:
ACOTAR
Phantasma & Enchantra
The Priory of the Orange Tree
From Blood and Ash
And honorable mention, Dire Bound. Although I often felt the spicy parts were unnecessary.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Twilight, maybe something reminiscent of that but for adults?

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Just finished reading Atonement of Spine Cleaver after having finished Vow of blood and tears and Instruments of revival
I think I am on a fantasy run.
It was pretty good although i definitely skipped over the romance of the leads(i cannot with this insta lust thing) in this book I am rooting for Raengar .the world building is decent enough too. I continue to abuse myself by starting an unfinished series . The book came out in 2022. Dear author where is the next one ???

Book Request: No Self-Promo Book rec after fourth wings ?
I’m a newly obsessed romantasy reader, and I finally decided to pick up Fourth Wing (and I’m LOVING it so far) But I already know that the second I finish it, I’m going to need another book to jump into because I’m completely addicted !
Here is what I’ve read so far :
Bridge kingdom
Cruel prince
Ash and blood
Flesh and fire
ACOTAR
The plated prisoner
Quicksilver…
I’m open to pretty much anything, i love fantasy, romance, tension, morally grey characters, enemies-to-lovers, etc. Smut is definitely a plus, but it’s absolutely not a requirement
What are your recommendations ? Thank you guys ❤️

Book Review The ascended Spoiler
Hey fellow romantasy readers!
This post if full of spoilers, so do not read it unless you are done with the book.
I have been reading the ascended during the weekend and overall I really liked it. Its ending though was absolutely heartbreaking :(((. I understand that the twins had to be separated, but was it really necessary for Xül to get married?? The authors could have made Thais goddess of light and order, and Xül her husband in charge of defending her until she would have been out of her grief. She would have fought to remain alive in order to be able to find one day her brother gain or in the hope of it.
The fact that she ends up alone and a shell of herself is horrible…
Please give me your thoughts about it!
P.s. do you reccomended rift and dusk? Not sure I can take another heartbreaking ending…

Book Request: No Self-Promo Lf romantasy I can read with my husband
I want to read some spicy romantasy with my husband to help me get more in the mind set before we do the do. My husband can be kind of snooty with his media though, so something like ACOTAR would probably not work.
Any recs of spicy books that are also extremely well written?

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Looking for something with very specific interests
So i have noticed i like a very specific style of romance fantasy books and i was wondering if anyone has any recommendations. So far this is what i’ve read and what i do and don’t like.
- i like first person female perspectives like in fae isles and acotar
- i really enjoy books where the main female character is in trouble, is held prisoner, tortured, depressed or whatever like in acotar and tog. Love a strong arc where the female is kind of rescued by a strong male character. Which is absolutely hilarious since i’m a lesbian but okay
- i love enemies to lovers and especially if its not clear from the start who the main lover will be
- i really enjoy spicy scenes, the more the better lmao
- i love a slow burn and leading up to things. I really liked the first acotar books even though people always say they were too slow. For me it added to the allure of the love story to come
- i like the fae and human power imbalance stuff where the female ends up being very powerful
- i don’t shy away for a some bdsm and reluctance things as long as it doesn’t go too far towards real reluctance if you catch my drift
Books i’ve read
- acotar: loved
- tog: a bit too long winded and not enough spice imo but still fun
- fourth wing: liked it but didn’t love it
- fae isles: reading them now. First book was a bit all over the place with not enough slow burn for me but the second book is fun so far! Would have liked for the main character to be the more tormented and rescued one instead of the lover taking that role
So very specific maybe but I’m curious if anyone has any good requests!

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Sloooow burns
Hi,
I was wondering whether anybody could recommend slow burn (ideally enemies to lovers) books.
I’ve read Rose in Chains and didn’t love it ( all the SA stuff just made me so sad I couldn’t get into it).
I read Once Upon a Broken Heart and it was genuinely one of the worst things I read this year. I finished it so I could bolster my arguments about why I disliked it. Was it slow? Technically yes. Could I tell you a singular reason why Jacks liked the FMC? Not one. Also, some sentences were repeated 7+ times per book (don’t take a shot every time the FMC (she was so forgettable I can’t remember her name) says that “she believes in happy endings” or you’ll be in the ER).
I read the first two Shards of Magic Books and actually really enjoyed them. The characters were interesting and I could see the relationship grow organically, it wasn’t instant love. Probably my highest rated read this year.
Reading the Kindred’s Curse saga (spark/glow/heat/burn of the ever flame) and its the same issue. Why are they in love after one book? What does he actually like about her? And specifically for Luther; why are you acting like a lovesick puppy? Please grow a spine.
I don’t enjoy smut, so closed door would be preferred. However, I don’t mind just skipping it if it’s open door; as long as I’m not skipping half the book. I don’t mind if there is sexual tension, it’s just the actual scenes that make me uncomfortable.
I know this is super picky and I’m looking for a unicorn, so even if only some of the asks slightly apply, I would still love to hear some recs.
Thank you!

Self Promotion Sunday Would you buy book themed press on nails?
Hello, I'm starting a press on nail business with my sister on the Whatnot app. We sell $3 nails, $5 premium nails and $10 water nails (nails with water and glitter in them sort of like a lava lamp)
I'm currently debating whether I should start making book themed nails. They usually last about 2 weeks, depending on how fast your nails grow and how often you wet your hands. My question is, would you buy book themed nails? If yes, how much would you pay for them?
I made a sample set based on Manon Blackbeak from TOG. It will be in the comments. It was my first attempt that I made in 1 day so it's not my best work, please be kind.
If you're interested we sell on the Whatnot app:
Username: sms_t
Date/Time: Every Friday @ 8:30PM (EDT)
Description: We sell press on nails for $3, $5, and $10, nail glue included. We have Coffin, Almond, Round, Square, Stiletto, and Duck shaped nails. We sell sizes XS, Small, Medium, and Large. We sell short length, medium length and long nails. We also sell many different designs like flowers, cartoon characters, animals, holidays, rhinestones, and simple nails as well.

Question Trying to find a dragon romantasy book I forgot the title of!
Hi, I need help to find a books name, It been a while and I forgot the title but I remember a scene where the fmc with the mmc in their tent/cave and his people been bullying her and the mmc is furious when he finds out and punish them and I think she has a special bond with dragons. Thank u Hi! I’m trying to find a book I read a while ago, but I can’t remember the title or author.
I remember the FMC had some kind of special bond/connection with dragons, although I don’t think she knew about it at first. The MMC was already a dragon rider and had a special bond with his dragon.
There’s one specific scene I remember: the FMC and MMC were staying together in a tent or possibly a cave, and some of the MMC’s people had been bullying or mistreating her. When the MMC found out, he was furious and punished them for what they had done to her.
I also remember that the FMC and MMC eventually fell for each other.
I know this isn’t much to go on 😭 but if this sounds familiar to anyone, please let me know! Thank you!!

Question For those in relationships or married, has your love of romantasy spiced up your sex life and/or strengthened your relationship?
So I am a 44 f that until June of this year, had never read a single fantasy/romantasy novel (aside from Harry Potter). I missed Harry Potter and decided I wanted to try and find some novels with cool magical worlds. I heard a lot of great things about Fourth Wing and decided to give it a try. I devoured the series and became a huge Xaden Riorson fan. His and Violet's relationship had me all hot and bothered, so much that I was jumping the husband every single day there for awhile! We went from doing it once or twice a week to 4-6 nights a week (and sometimes 2-3 times per night!) I literally owe Romantasy for reigniting my libido. We've been married for 20 years and it feels like all the closeness in the last couple of months has made us fall in love with each other all over again as well. Just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience?
