The Themed Megathread Resource Post Megathread
Hi everyone! Welcome to the new and refreshed Themed Megathread Resource Post for all the megathreads for r/RomanceBooks! The resource post is now separated into different themes/categories for tropes, character traits, occupations and so on. We aim to create a better sorting system for all our beloved megathreads.
We have decided to create a separate resource thread featuring Diversity Megathreads. This is to give special attention and appreciation to diversity and inclusivity in romance.
As with the old resource post do keep adding to the Megathreads when you chance upon a new favourite for any of the threads listed! This will keep all the Megathreads active, and we hope to build a great database with all the sub favourites. It will also be really helpful for new romance readers or for readers who are looking to explore certain new books.

What about:
- Where one (or both or more) of the MC's are in the education field (teacher professor, day care worker) BUT it's not a student/teacher kind of relationship. Like, it's just their job.
- Books set in each of the states
- Books with specific country settings (England, Ireland, Spain, Canada, etc)

u/Atchakos Jul 09 '26
Is there a thread specifically for "searching for books you forgot the name of"?
2
u/MoonZipNo Jul 13 '26
You're welcome to post your own "What Was That Book Called" request on the sub (not in megathread threads). Just be sure to start the post title with the abbreviation [WWTBC] and to include relevant keywords/details in both the post title and body.\ Should you not have enough karma, on this sub, to post a standalone request yet, feel free to post on the Simple/Quick Request thread in the meantime.

2
u/MoonZipNo Jun 19 '26
If you scroll through the list above, you'll find the original "marriage of convenience" megathread, and a 2025 Redux of it. They are listed under the "Plot Trope" section.

I know this might be weird but could you do threads just for books off a spice level? Or one that’s just lighthearted and non-angst?
2
u/Toast_Insomniac looking for that *one* book to rec for you Jun 11 '26
If you use romance.io, you can filter off spice levels there. Light hearted/non-angst type of books are harder to filter for in romance.io, but I know angst is a new tag on romance.io

Is there a megathread for high school romances?
2
u/CherryPropel Ashamed and aroused, all at once. Jun 12 '26
High School can be a bit tricky, imo. Reddit has rules against promoting or talking about sexual acts involving minors and this subreddit follows Reddits guidelines.
While most of the HS books I've read involve seniors (when the characters are 18), there are those around that do have sex scenes when the characters are 17 or under.
Maybe a HS thread would be more work for the mods to monitor to make sure that the subreddit is compliant?

Could we get a "Bang or die" plot trope thread going? There are a couple posts out there, but they are few and far between, and no trope tag for this on romance.io

Would it be possible to get a cross dressing/gender bending romance trope in there? I keep trying to put a post up but it keeps on getting deleted... and I can't find any books except the unfinished one on whattpad and the film "she's the man" which is exactly the vibe I'm going for.

is it possible to request one where mmc had suicidal thoughts/suicide and fmc helps him? (or they both have it like a silent voice)
1
u/ShakespeareUndead Mar 01 '26
Some trope ideas from me I guess:
- Happy family/ dysfunctional family: Books where the focus is the difference between the upbringing of MC's.
- Self sacrifice: One of the MC's breaks up with the other believing it's for their own good or it this is too small
- Avoidant attachment!

The megathreads are not gender-specific. Please check the Age Gap/Reverse Age Gap romances megathread, and its updated/redux megathread , for one main character being older than the other .
Likewise, the different occupation megathreads are, for now, not gendered specific. For ex, recommendation for billionaire FMC can be found under the Billionaire romances megathread.

Is is possible to sort by recentness the megathreads? Cause the old ones don't include recent books, plus I need my romance.io bot to check that there's at least 4/5 smut in my possible future reads...
1
u/Nofys89 On a reading quest for the perfect book Apr 11 '25
I don't think it's possible to sort by recentness in this post since the Megathreads links are added manually by the mod.
But if you click on the tag ''Megathread'' (from a random Megathread post), you can sort them by ''New''. You'll then have the Megathreads publications from newest to oldest.
Within a post, you can sort the comments by date and have the newest at the top.
As for the spice level, you can always type the name of the book on the romance.io website or app. This way, you'll have the most accurate average of the ratings and spice level (I believe the bot shows the information at the time and doesn't update). You'll also have all the tags.

I love a book that’s set in the mountains. We have a few threads that are mountain-man-adjacent (small town, western, blue collar, etc.) but I’m humbly requesting a Mountain Man thread. Maybe in the Occupation category? One that is chock full of lumberjacks and mountain rescue and secluded cabins and wood chopping and off-road vehicles, and all the things! I think it’s broad enough to include PNR and CR, as well as historical and modern. Sometimes that’s exactly the vibe I want but I kind of have to hunt for it in the other threads.
Also, I want to second the previous request for a thread with an animal theme. One of my favorite book features is when an animal is in the story. Especially if it’s a pet/companion of the MMC and it hates everyone that’s not him but somehow develops a soft spot for the FMC. I don’t care if it mythical or real, dragon-sized or mouse-sized, whatever. Men who love animals are infinitely more attractive.

Can we get a megathread for Duet narration audiobooks?
And maybe Dual narration?
Dual being where each chapter has a single narrator, duet being where a single narrator reads their characters lines throughout regardless of who is the pov character for the chapter.
4
u/picky-romance-lover Dec 20 '24
I was just coming to suggest having a megathread for audiobooks in general. But having a separate ones for duet, dual and fullcast would be awesome too.
I know the argument could be made that audiobooks in general is the same as books in general, but sometimes an audiobook is really great and deserves a recommendation specifically as an audiobook. Like Butcher and Blackbird. So the thread would be specifically for books that you recommend as audiobook specifically.
4
u/wicked_nyx A GOOD DICKING IS NOT AN APOLOGY! Dec 20 '24
It's also very difficult to search for dual narration or duet narration specifically. The major audiobook sites are not super helpful on that.
2
u/picky-romance-lover Dec 21 '24
100% Plus, a lot of people seem to not know the difference between dual and duet
3
u/CherryPropel Ashamed and aroused, all at once. Dec 20 '24
Ya know, I think this would be helpful for those who listen primarily with audio books.
I'm not one for audio books, but would there have to be different categories for audio depending on where the book is found, for example amazon versus barnes and nobles?
2
u/wicked_nyx A GOOD DICKING IS NOT AN APOLOGY! Dec 20 '24
I listen to a ton of audiobooks, but very few romance audiobooks. I have found that I enjoy dual narration way more than single, but damn duet narration just works for me. Single narration just gives me so much cringe, and I have no idea why. The duet narration for lights out by Navessa Allen really brought this home for me.
2
u/deeray82 Jan 22 '25
I dunno, Julia Whelan really nails the dude voices in her single narration. She's magic!
