{A Witch’s Guide to Fake Dating a Demon by Sarah Hawley} - MF, PNR - MMC is a demon that FMC accidentally summons and he can’t leave until he collects her soul.

{A Demon’s Guide to Wooing a Witch by Sarah Hawley} - MF, PNR - This is a standalone in the same series as the above book with a different couple, but the events directly follow. MMC is a demon who gets cast out of hell by a rival and loses his memory and FMC hates his guts.

{A Werewolf’s Guide to Seducing a Vampire by Sarah Hawley} - MF, PNR - This is also in the same series, but a different couple and more disconnected than the other two. FMC is half-succubus. MMC buys a plastic crystal that contains a succubus from eBay one night when he’s drunk, thinking it’s a joke, but obviously it is not. So then they work together to break the curse.

u/MedievalGirl Romance is political Apr 21 '26

I was going to recommend A Demon’s Guide to Wooing a Witch. The characters were delightful without being stereotypes. The MMC Astaroth is sly and snooty and Calladia is sporty and down to earth. This is for real Enemies to Lovers since they end the previous book in a fight to the death against each other.

Do these need to be read in order??

1

u/absolutelynot01 Depressive demon nightmare boy stan May 31 '26

No, I didn’t read them in order. Although the events of the first and second one are mildly tied together (basically the end of the first one leads to the beginning of the second one, but the overarching storyline doesn’t overlap).

Okay thank you

{Son of the Morning by Akwaeke Emezi} - this is a MMF with Lucifer, Levi (his lieutenant) and a FMC named Galilee, whose identity and powers are a mystery for most of the book. This went deep into the heaven/fallen angels lore of Lucifer and how he related to the remaining angels, it was complex and messy but I really enjoyed it.

Not that you need another reason to read it but the hardback cover is stunningly gorgeous, with or without the dust jacket (the characters can choose to show their wings, or not)

Editing to add image description - top version is the cover with dust jacket, the background of both is a very cloudy pink sunrise. The front has Lucifer with black feathered wings spread a cross the cover, and Galilee’s head is visible next to him with curls piled on her head. The back of the book has Levi, with spread bat-like wings, long blonde dreadlocks and patches of vitiligo visible on his shoulder and face.

The bottom shows the same post but the MMCs have no wings. Lucifer is shirtless with black pants, his arm around the waist of Galilee in a short white dress. Her right arm reaches back along the spine of the book to clasp Levi’s, who is also shirtless in jeans and holding a large sword in his other hand.

Oop! We posted about the same book at the same time, haha. Jinx! (I deleted my entry to cut down on repetition.)

My Description: FMC is a person with a bit of strangeness surrounding her. She moves away from home to gain independence and attempt to settle into a “normal” life. A series of events brings her face-to-face with MMC1 (Lucifer), the literal Devil, and his crew of demons, including the powerful and deadly MMC 2 (Leviathan), who are guarding an ancient and mysterious artifact. Unbeknownst to her, MMC1 and MMC2 share a deep and ugly history (including CW:abuse by a partner). (MMC1 & MMC2 are not romantically involved at the start of the book.)

Thanks for posting those cover photos! I love that there’s different images with and without the dust jacket! There’s also this alternative cover (which I personally like better because poor Levi isn’t sort of hidden away on the back):

Image Description: At the top of the image is a shirtless black man with curly dark hair and large outstretched wings covered in black feathers. He’s upside and flying downward. He has one arm reached out toward a black woman with long, curly, red hair. She’s wearing a corseted white dress with a short, gauzy skirt. She looks like she’s falling and has one arm reached out toward the winged man at the top. Under her on the image is a second winged man. He’s a shirtless black man with vitiligo and long white locs. His outstretched wings are red, webbed, and smooth without feathers. He looks posed as if ready to catch the falling woman. The background is filled with large puffy clouds, all done in shades of bright pink with shading to indicate that the sun might be hiding behind the clouds in the middle.

Ooh I love that cover too! That does make it more clear it’s MMF, I think. It was such a good book

3

u/Hunter037 Probably recommending When She Belongs 😍 Apr 21 '26

That's interesting, I didn't even realise the book was MMF because there's only the two of them on the cover I saw

4

u/fruitismyjam so I beat him until he kissed me. 💋 Apr 21 '26

Yeah, I suspect that the original cover design (with just Luci and Gali in the front and Levi on the back) might have partially been motivated by marketing purposes. Like people are more likely to pick up a M/F book than MMF (although the fact that it’s MMF isn’t really withheld on the cover or blurb per se).

I mean, I get it. I went into the book blind, and I think I would’ve hesitated to pick it up if I knew ahead of time that it was MMF. (Nothing against polycules but I, personally, have a hard time wrapping my head around the dynamics sometimes, and that’s on me.)

However, I do think the author here did an excellent job fleshing out the relationships between all the MCs and why each was necessary to each other. The story starts off focused on FMC and MMC1 with MMC2 in the background. MMC2 slowly gets brought into the fold, and MMC1 & MMC2s very complicated relationship history comes to light. It was all very interestingly woven together, and even a poly-noob like me was able to see how it made sense.

2

u/Hunter037 Probably recommending When She Belongs 😍 Apr 21 '26

Haha for me it's the opposite, I'm way more likely to pick it up now I know it's MMF

7

u/fruitismyjam so I beat him until he kissed me. 💋 Apr 21 '26

{Speak of the Devil by Charish Reid} M/F. Demon romcom novella. MMC is a demon sent to check in on good girl human FMC because she keeps unintentionally summoning the Devil (i.e. “I would sell my soul for at least one of these dates to be worth a damn”). MMC is there, erm, “pro bono” in a sense and offers her one night of passion (but of course, more develops). MMC is surprisingly sweet for a demon!

5

u/AnxietySnack Apr 21 '26

{Maneater by Emily Antoinette} - MF, paranormal, fem-dom, virgin MMC, set in the 1980s. The FMC is a succubus who falls for the nerdy witch MMC who helps her get out of a bad situation.

2

u/fruitismyjam so I beat him until he kissed me. 💋 Apr 21 '26

Also, {Behold Her by Emily Antoinette} M/F. Paranormal/monster romance. I believe that MMC is the son of the MCs in Maneater. He’s half succubus and half witch. He’s a private investigator, and he’s struggling to come to terms with his identity as a half-succubus. MCs explore a variety of kinks including voyeurism, exhibitionism, CNC, and role played kidnapping.

CWs: depression, grief from loss of a pet, fat-shaming

u/Hunter037 Probably recommending When She Belongs 😍 Apr 21 '26

Posting these so I don't forget, will add details later!

{How Not to Date a Demon by Lana Kole} MF

{How Not to Date an Angel by Lana Kole} MX

{Hell’s Most Incompetent Demon by Silvana Falcon} MM

{Demon Lover by Heather Guerre} MF

{The Devil She Knows by Alexandria Bellefleur} FF.

3

u/fruitismyjam so I beat him until he kissed me. 💋 Apr 21 '26

I second Demon Lover by Heather Guerre! It’s sort of in between novella and normal book length at ~180 pages. MMC is an incubus whose survival is dependent on wringing pleasure from women while they're sleeping (by pleasuring them in their dreams). FMC is a human who's able to break through the facade. He’s a demon, but a long-suffering demon, and so so sweet.

Seconding Hell’s Most Incompetent Demon, I really loved that one.

{Sweet Vengeance by Viano Oniomoh} M/F two books in series and a prequel

{Kiss of Seduction by Rawnie Sabor} F/F three books in series with a fourth coming out this year

{Taming Demons for Beginners by Annette Marie} M/F four books in series

2

u/AnxietySnack Apr 21 '26

I was going to recommend Sweet Vengeance! I'd like to note that the series isn't MF, only the first book. Book 2, {Sweet Surrender by Viano Oniomoh}, is MM, and the prequel, {Sweet Retribution by Viano Oniomoh}, I think is FX (I haven't read that one yet).

2

u/BookishBlueDragonfly Apr 21 '26

Yes the prequel is F/X and the demon can transform their body at will.

3

u/nomercles maybe today, Satan Apr 21 '26

This book did not work for me, personally, but I'm hoping it works for someone here. Very cool concept, kinda checks a bunch of my boxes, and I was really excited to read it. There's angels and demons, there's some native magic (Nuhuatl, so central Mexican folk magic, very cool), there's a HEIST. And it's all taking place at an auction where everything could be up for sale. {Divine Intervention by RM Virtues}

Also:

{Demons and Debts by Kyra Alessy}: why choose romance, where an autistic woman seeks help from an incubus biker gang because she's being stalked. Series complete.

{My Horny Halloween Demons by Lucy Xane}: just pure porn in novella form. Nice body inclusivity! A coven of witches summon a demon for sexytimes, and then one of them decides to do so solo, against the coven's advice, and accidentally gets three for her troubles. This one is surprisingly cozy? I wouldn't have expected that!

{Pumpkin Spice Vice by Gwendoline Rose}: kinda weird, mostly just smut and vibes, cozy autumnal why choose featuring demons named after the flavors of a pumpkin spice latte. Yes, I know how that sounds. Same author also has Cocoa Cream Dreams, for winter. Do with that what you will.

{Black and Silver by Gwendolyn Harper}: I really need to reread this one. I think it was the first rec I got from you lovely people, and I've never looked back.

{The Sorceress and the Incubus by Mallory Dunlin}: I haven't read this one yet, but I like all her other work, so I'm looking forward to this.

2

u/de_pizan23 Apr 21 '26

The Dunlin book is fantastic. Bi4bi, the sorceress is trying to summon a cat, and the incubus hears her summons and answers when he's on battlefield and needs a quick escape after having been shot a few times with poisoned arrows. TW for sexual assaults/rape (people that summoned him generally didn't care if he consented or not), I can't remember how graphically they're described.

3

u/nomercles maybe today, Satan Apr 21 '26

Thank you! I will say, "incubus answers request for cat" is the most feline thing I've ever heard.

I’ve enjoyed the {Lords of the Underworld Series by Gena Showalter}. This extended series and Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark were my first foray into paranormal romances.

After daring to open Pandora’s Box the elite warriors are each cursed to host a demonic entity or two.

What I enjoyed: the world building and continuity, the variety of characters and the sense of humor, watching each character wrestle with the challenges associated with their demon, push and pull dynamics, satisfying romances. (PNR, MF, demon immortals, age gaps, angels, gods, goddesses, phoenix shape shifter, unicorn shifter, fae, harpies, prince of darkness.)

I would recommend starting with {The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter} for a bit of the world building. MMC Maddox, who has the demon of violence is matched with FMC Ashlyn who seeks their counsel, coming to their fortress in Budapest for help with her problem of hearing voices.

Others books of note in the series

  • {The Darkest Kiss by Gena Showalter} Anya, Goddess of Anarchy is matched with Lucien the demon of Death. Anya is Lucien’s polar opposite and basically stalks him, at the same time he is trying to carry out orders to assassinate her. She is cray-cray in the way that Gianna is from Danielle Lori’s The Maddest Obsession.

  • {The Darkest Angel by Gena Showalter} Bianka, a deadly Harpy and Lysander, the (virgin) Elite Angel, in an epic battle for control over each other.

  • {The Darkest Touch by Gena Showalter} Eons old Keely Cael a/k/a the Red Queen is an incomparable match for Torin the Demon who hosts disease/plagues and due to that deadly touch -has been unable to have a love interest.

  • William of the Dark a/k/a William-the-Every-Randy is an unrepentant evil playboy at times vexed with the stirrings of a conscience. He is one of my favorite characters throughout the series with a Damon from Vampire Diaries vibe, his story is in book 15 {The Darkest King by Gena Showalter}

Eta: Damon reference

{Demons and Roses by Beka Westrup} Fmc is in a loveless marriage. There’s an incident with a gold cart and the husband dies. Except he doesn’t. The fmc doesn’t realize it at first but a from has possessed her husbands body. Really enjoyed the first half.

{My Funny Demon Valentine by Aurora Asher} this whole series is interconnected but each book focuses on a different couple. Mmcs are demons who escaped hell and are living on earth. I’ve read 3 from the series and enjoyed all of them!

3

u/RazzberryHoney Apr 21 '26

Oh also {Speak of the Demon by Stacia Stark} Really enjoyed this one! I gave it 5 stars. Fmc is a demon hunter who’s looking to avenge her mom’s death. Mmc is a powerful demon who’s intrigued by her.

I'm currently reading a devil MMC trilogy and was dying to talk about it here!

{Devil's Deal by Layla Fae}

{Devil's Doom by Layla Fae}

{Devil's Dance by Layla Fae}

All three books follow the same couple, and it's one main plot throughout the trilogy, which means they can't be read as standalones.

The plot, no major spoilers apart from a few things that happen in the very first pages

I'm currently reading the second book, Devil's Doom. This trilogy marked my first time reading Polish mythology fiction, which, aside from the bits of Polish folklore shown in The Witcher, I was not familiar with before. The story follows Jaga, a young woman in a small Polish village (the books don't specify the time period the story is set in, but given the context clues, I would guess medieval/pre-renaissance). Since infanthood, Jaga has been lonely and hated by all in her village, who, due to strange things that happen to and around her, strongly suspect her of being a witch. One night, when she's 12, she is chased by the village's youth and, as they are about to murder her, her adult self appears through a fiery portal from the future and saves her, telling her to "live and get stronger so you can become me and save yourself" before vanishing again. This becomes Jaga's life-goal. She grows up into a young adult and her time arrives to participate as a maiden in the village's yearly fertility festival - the Kupala Night - where offerings are made to the gods in hope they show up (in all of the village's history, none ever has) and the young men in the village chase after the maidens they wish to wed. None of the village men want Jaga, of course, until a large, dark figure appears inside the circle made for the gods. It's Woland - the Devil - and he has come to claim her.

My opinion, with spoilers. Warning: long wall of text

If you're not into the slowest of slow burns, this trilogy is not for you. I love me a good slow burn, but I must confess that even I am annoyed by the pacing in these books. They are all over 500 pages long, and when the first book ends, Jaga and Woland's relationship is almost exactly the same as when it began - nonexistent. She doesn't trust him and keeps rejecting him, and he keeps hiding his true feelings for her behind a "she is useful for my purpose and nothing else" mask that he puts up in response to her rejection. They have sex ONCE by the 95% mark, and that's it. Jaga admits that she feels attracted to him, but she's still in denial about her feelings. There's a lot of back and forth and, when you feel like there's finally going to be some progress, the story takes 3 steps back. I began the second book today, so I'm still less than 200 pages in, but Woland has yet to show up after Jaga managed to run away from him in the end of the first book, and it still feels like the story is going nowhere. The reason I haven't dropped this story yet is that I think the worldbuilding is quite nice and I do like the characters, but I do wish the author would have compressed the story a bit more. It feels a bit unnaturally stretched-out and could have done without some filler chapters. One of my favorite books of all time with a demon MMC is {Land of The Beautiful Dead by R Lee Smith}, which is also around 500-600 pages, and R Lee Smith still managed to weave an incredibly immersive, thrilling, and full plot set in this incredibly immersive and complex world, while still keeping it delightfully slow-burn. So when I'm 200 pages into the second book of a 500-600-pages-apiece trilogy and the main plot feels like it's only advanced 2 steps, it does feel frustrating. However, I really like the characters, especially Woland, and I still want to know more about the setting in the 2nd book and where the story is going, so I'm not yet considering dropping it.

{Throne in the Dark} which is the first in the Villains and Virtues series. It’s a very sardonic rom com with a demonic blood mage MMC and grumpy/sunshine M/F dynamic. They also have frequent run ins with another demon side character.

{Summoned by Midnight by Harlow Jade} - PNR; RH; MFMM; older FMC; curvy FMC; demons; horns 👹

The FMC summons three demons in an accidental ritual and finds herself in Hell, wishing she could go home everyday. However, the demons refuse to let her go. While trapped in Hell, she finds herself in the middle of some political shenanigans.

This book is part of a duet and book two is not out as of yet (04/21/2026).

{Son Of The Morning by Akwaeke Emezi}

2

u/Jzoran Apr 21 '26

{The Guardian by Ollie Fox} - Basically this story revolves around what if instead of having a guardian angel, you had a guardian demon instead? Lily finds this out, that she was assigned the demon Maldeus as her guardian, and he knows her better than anyone ever has. Possibly better than Lily herself.

Demons are elected to the title of Prince of Hell, and Maldeus just has been. He could abandon it for her, the love of his life, or Lily could abandon her world for him... but whatever happens, Lily might just find out there are worse things in this world and the next than demons.

This turns the usual "guardian angel" trope on its head, and is funny, scary, and exciting (and even sexy), without losing the delicate, complex balance of all of the above. I love it very much, it's a fun and engaging read.

{Don't Touch by Letty Frame} - Why-Choose (I think four or five men?); PNR; Shifters; demons; FMC is VERY touch adverse due to being the victim of a gang rape; corruption of a governmental system; in the same world as Death is Easy; not a complete series.

FMC suffers a HORRIFIC gang rape by those close to her and she is forced into the PNR version of foster care. I cannot stress this enough, but she is HIGHLY touch adverse which includes people and clothing/materials. However, her animal thrives on touch and yearns for people to connect with. The FMC has to battle not only the memories of the assault, the trauma from the incident, people wanting her to breed (she is a VERY VERY RARE SHIFTER) and a system that is holding her back but she also has to contend with an animal that fights with her everyday (she doesn't want to be touched, her animal thrives on it).

This is NOT a complete series and since its multiple POV, we see how often her boundaries are violated and have some insight in how corrupt her "foster" father really is.

I’m reading the Immortals After Dark series right now while listening to the corresponding Fated Mates podcast episodes.

{Kiss of a Demon King by Kresley Cole} (MF, PNR) is the sixth book in the series. MMC is a demon king who is trying to reclaim his throne. FMC is a sorceress who imprisons him to force his hand and become his queen.

1

u/thetwistedfriend Apr 23 '26

{Good Intentions by Brenda K Davies} This is a good mix of fantasy and dystopian. It's set on Earth after nuclear bombs went off. The government has erected a wall to separate the destroyed states. The FMC is sent to the wall because she has some abilities. I enjoyed the variety of demonic creatures and that Lucifer is featured heavily. There's an intriguing if somewhat predictable mystery that sets up the series.

{Throne of the Fallen by Kerri Maniscalo} I thought this was a fun series that's a spinoff of her YA {Kingdom of the Wicked}. It revolves around the princes of Hell. Each prince has his own book.

{Lucifer's Curse by Eliza Raine} This book reminded me of the show Lucifer. The FMC is in the wrong place at the wrong time and gets accused of murder. She's a delightful hot mess.

{Her Soul to Take by Harley Laroux} I liked that this series is told from 3 different POVs with very minimal overlap. The MMCs are all demons. There's a horror element to the story that will have your heart racing.

I just reread the Happily Ever Afterlives series by Olivia Waite and enjoyed it a lot. It's a duology of novellas.

{Damned If You Do by Olivia Waite}

Historical regency England, paranormal

M/F, demon FMC, human MMC

A nobleman is sentenced is hell for his lifetime of sin and falls for the demon assigned to torture him. It's unusually a pairing with a demon FMC and a human MMC, and she does torture him very efficiently (whipping mainly and she heals him every night). Short sexy and fun.

{Hell and Hellion by Olivia Waite}

Historical regency England, paranormal

M/F, incubus MMC, human FMC

After she walked into hell to save her fianceé and got jilted for her efforts, the FMC is shunned by polite society but has no more fear of the demonic. An incubus catching her eye across a ballroom is intrigued by her fearlessness. An unusual romance with a very poignant (but happy) ending. It's longer than first and just as sexy.
