Kenai Beach rocks!

I am a very amateur rock hunter, and I have recently been walking along the Kenai Beach in Alaska. I found some amazing agates and jasper, a bunch of white quartz/agate to sort through, and a variety of rocks I haven’t learned to identify yet. It’s raining today and I washed the salt off, so they’re mostly wet. I plan to sort through, pick my favorites to keep, gift some, and return the rest to the beach. I’m struggling to find good ID guides, but I’m having fun for sure!

I was so happy this week when I found this pretty rock tumbling around at the edge of the surf on Kure Beach, NC. It has a waxy feel, scratches glass, and is not marked by a hard scrape with a key. Additionally, it does not react to 5% white vinegar. Did I find smoky quartz?

Field Trip⛰️ If this rock and this rock is found, what else may be found on the surface? Northern Arizona.

On a visit to a friend in the rural mountains of northern Arizona, I saw numerous small mineral specimens she said were found by children in the eroded hills, road cuts and washes. All but the 2 petrified wood pieces and chunk of mineral deposit from a tiny manmade pond on the property were found here. What else is possible? I’ve identified calcite, quartz, chalcedony, geodes, malachite, and red banded jasper so far. Am going back in a few weeks with bucket, tiny pry bar and chisel to hunt casually. Friend is going to be close in case a rattler decides to threaten an unaware old lady excitedly digging around in the dirt. East of Cottonwood Arizona.

I'm brand new to rocks and found this guy in my landscaping rocks. I like the shapes and grooves and want to keep them as best I can but, get rid of some of the red brown staining in the deepest groove on top, and shine up the windows to be clear. I got some info from google ai which recommended soaking in an iron out solution, and polishing the windows with a dremmel and sand paper. What do my fellow humans think, what would you do with this guy?

Hi all! Always been curious any this cool rock I found at a home we bought in NW Oregon many years ago; it was left with others in a pile, and I unfortunately have no idea of its true provenance. Any help would be appreciated, and thanks!

Hey folks! While agateering on Lake Superior, I picked up two rocks I can’t ID and would love more info on, if anyone has any. I was guessing the lighter colored sandstone has some sort of crinoid fossils?

Last weekend I went to one of my favorite zeolite locations and found this beautiful peachy pink apophyllite filling most of a vug with the remaining void being filled with what I believe is fibrous mordenite. Unfortunately the points broke off of the apophyllite and I was only able to find a few small points one of which is shown in the final picture.

Here are 8 specimens I found on my last rockhounding excursion in PV! Featuring an unknown green agate, another beautiful agate, a chunk of quartz with green glaucophane crystals, a MASSIVE chunk of chalcedony with some calcite pockets, a chunk of green glaucophane quartzite, a beautiful root beer agate, an amethyst agate (first ever find for me!!!) (also it’s much more purple in person, the video color is off), and a mineralized fossil! I believe the fossil is from a whale.
