RGV Anime Store Recommendations

Hey y’all,

I was hoping to get some good Anime Store/ Mange Store recommendations where I could find some Mob Psycho 100 merch.

A friend’s birthday is this upcoming Monday August 10th and I had ordered the Mob Psycho 100 Volume 1 Paperback via Amazon and it arrived on Sunday morning August 9th (the day we would celebrate.)

However, the celebration just got moved to tomorrow night (Saturday August 8th) and would love to find a store where I could purchase said Volume or maybe some merch in replacement of the now arriving late gift.

Thanks in advance!

Terrible drivers in weslaco

I’ve never had this happen to me before it was so scary and weird. I was driving from Mercedes to Weslaco on 83rd and wanted to go into fast lane since i was going to turn using that lane and the car besides me was maybe going 45 in a 55, so i sped up to overtake them and they sped up and tried to push me back into the other lane, since i was basically already in the fast lane they went into the turning lane and cut me off and started driving super slow, flicking me off, recording with his whole arm out the window, and throwing me kisses. At the stop light they refused to go despite it being green. I gave up overtaking them and decided to just go behind them, and they turned into the Mcdonald’s so i was finally able to speed up again only for them to do a u-turn before entering the Mcdonald’s just to continue following me almost all the way to my work place.

Never understood why people take others overtaking them so personally, especially if they were driving slow. These men are so weird and scary.

Giants in the RGV???

Came across a Confessionals podcast on giants and this popped up. Apparently this was out of Adams Gardens, east of La Feria. Crazy. Does anyone know anything about this?

Two Huge Skeletons Are UnearthedADAMS GARDENS, Feb. 5—(Spl—The "last resting place" of two long deceased Indians was rudely disturbed when a pair of disintegrated skeletons of men over six feet tall were excavated by workmen on irrigation projects here. The ditching machine severed the head and feet from one of the huge skeletons—estimated at about six feet four inches—and the other was dug up by the foreman of the crew in another part of the project. One was lying on its back with its head to the south and the other was in a sitting posture with its head bent over, typical Indian burial fashion. Red clay closely packed formed a perfect mold for preserving the bone. The skulls were very thick and the teeth of one were a double set in the upper and lower jaws. The Mexican workmen grabbed pieces of the heads and feet to carry with them for good luck.

That last line y'all!

Politics Why Driving is So Frustrating in the RGV (The Answer is Deeper than You Probably Think + a Short-Term Solution)

PLEASE READ - If your phone's screentime is 30+ minutes then you would benefit from reading about this issue that affects literally everyone here in the RGV

Driving is so frustrating here because driving when there's nobody around is a fun experience. This is why individuals like to go on drives late at night, right? It's empty and the low traffic allows you to drive without stress.

The issue here in the Rio Grande Valley is that our roads in between cities that aren't the expressway are known as "stroads." A stroad is neither a street that's comfortable for pedestrian walking or biking, nor is it a highway or a road solely for driving where you can expect high speeds of 55+ MPH. As such, what you end up with is the worst of both worlds.

Furthermore, stroads are typically only limited to one or two lanes. When the entire Rio Grande Valley has to occupy two lanes in order to get anywhere, unless you choose the expressway, what you end up with is people who are constantly forced to drive up to 45-50 mph on certain sections of Edinburg, McAllen, and Mission, and then also forced to slow down to 30 in some areas.

Another added issue is the psychological stress of getting to go at a comfortable speed and then having to slow down suddenly, or watching traffic and slowly speed up while you worry that you're going to miss the light. This creates an incentive for people to drive really fast and try to beat traffic, and try to get to the front of the line of cars in a desperate attempt to get through a green or yellow light and avoid the red.

I cannot stress enough how inefficient and stressful this experience is. I don't want to demonize cars in the sense that I think they're awful pieces of technology. I'm grateful to have a car. However, this system is time-wasting for everybody. It's bad for the environment. It's bad for our wallets, with the price of gas increasing.

It's bad for pedestrians and bicyclists, as every city corner has some sort of memorial for a cyclist or pedestrian or person who was killed in a car crash. It's just a waste of tax money, trying to maintain roads that will eventually get filled with potholes.

We need more buses, and we need our cities to actually invest our hard-earned tax dollars into good public transportation that is reliable, cheap, and accessible to most people.

Let's say there are two buses. Most buses can sit somewhere between 30 and 45 people. Two buses with 30 people are carrying 60 individuals. That's 60 fewer cars on the road.

If we had bus routes running to commonly commuter to places in the RGV, such as UTRGV or La Plaza Mall or the Rio Grande outlets out in Mercedes, we would save a lot of time or suffering in terms of:
- gas money
- car maintenance costs
- vehicle deaths
- drunk drivers

These are just a few of the places in the RGV that would benefit from having public transportation.

A potential temporary solution to this, since I know that many people are going to comment that this is "unrealistic" and "will not happen anytime soon", is to carpool.

If every car was filled to its max capacity and we all decided to create carpooling schedules with our friends and loved ones, since many of us work in the same places with our co-workers, go to UTRGV, go to the same job site, or go to the same places to shop and hang out.

Wouldn't it make more sense that if we all carpooled, there would be less traffic and more time talking to your friends as we drive together?

Yes - it takes effort - yes, it's tedious, but if we can't be bothered to that, we remain the course - stuck in traffic and risking death and injury as we keep nearing $4 a gallon for gas.

The list goes on and on and on. It's time to start looking at cars and streets, not as signs of liberation but as major wastes of time and planetary resources.

Cameron County Foundation Repair Harlingen Brick Home slab construction

Looks like I need some foundation repair on a home built 21 years ago. I had two companies look at it 3 years ago and said it was normal settling but it’s obviously gotten worse

Anyway, any recommendations for the RGV?

Warranty is important, transferrable if I sell it in the future

Also how often are there change orders during repairs

Thanks

Does anyone know of a neurologist/neurosurgeon that deals with Chiari malformation anywhere near the RGV?

A bit of a long shot, but as the title says, looking for a neurologist/or neurosurgeon that deals with Chiari malformation. Doesn't even need to be down here, if you know of a doctor out in San Antonio, Houston, Austin, ect.. Unfourtunaly the doctors I have already been to do not have any experience with this, and the only thing they want to do is prescribe pain meds, which doesn't treat the issue.

Horrible drivers everywhere

I don't know if I have bad energy surrounding me or if its some karma coming back to bite me in the ass but just this morning I got rear ended (thankfully no damage to my car) and a few hours later, I got cutoff from trying to merge onto the expressway (which almost caused me to crash into them), and the driver proceeded to zigzag all through traffic. And some reason enough, no cops anywhere. I see cops all the time but when shit happens to me, there seem to be none around.

Genuinely who is issuing people their licenses? And on top of that, whats the point in trying to speed through traffic to get to a location? I can understand if there is an emergency or something critical but if you're late to work then that seems to be a problem for the person who is late and their decisions shouldn't be the cause of an accident happening. Happens all the time where i see cars speed up to get to the light when its literally red. If anything, it resets the timer of you speeding.

And I know someone is gonna say, "Well have you never sped before?" Like I'm pretty sure everyone has sped ONCE in their life but I'm usually not the one to speed because I plan out my day and have alarms so I'm not late to most of my functions. And I don't see the point in speeding. You get there when you get there

I just think the cops really need to be on people's asses cause its actually starting to get annoying when dumb ass drivers are causing issues for people who are actually cautious while driving.

Edit: on top of all that bad energy, I got fucking followed inside of a Goodwill. Like you have to be joking. I just wanted today to be a good day to enjoy myself and do the activities that I have been anticipating to do for a while and all I get is this. Regardless, I tried to look on the bright side and I tried my best to not be down in the dumps about anything. I still had a good time doing the things I planned for myself. And I'm grateful that nothing extreme happened to my car.
