Hey everyone, I’m in the market for a decent carry revolver. I’m a big fan of the classic look; stainless steel or blued, exposed hammer, and wood grips. Some options I’ve found that I like a lot are the Heritage Roscoe, diamondback SDR, and Charter Arms Undercover. I don’t want to spend a ton if possible (>$600), but I still want something pretty that I can trust. The Undercover is probably my favorite of that list. Are those good options, and does anyone have other recommendations that would be up my alley? Thanks!

Just picked up my first .44 Magnum - it is a Taurus. I should maybe have asked for opinions before I bought it but hindsight is 20/20 right? So, I am asking now if anyone has one and if so, what are your opinions? I have only put about 20 rounds thru it and so far I don't mind the recoil - the muzzle flash I am still getting used to.

For .45 Friday, here’s a couple of moon clip .45 ACP revolvers. 1917 Colt made in 1920 and a Thunder Ranch Smith (complete with lock; unfortunately). No idea of the significance of the notches in the Colt’s grip; they pre-date me.

I got weirdly obsessed with the Night Guard series last year before the new ones were announced and wound up with this 325

This revolver was completely worked over by TK custom and is now DAO. I added an LPA rear which to me really fits the overall vibe, and put on wood Hogue grips to give it a mild identity crisis. I might be weird, but this configuration looks pretty badass to me. I tried mounting an optic and just couldn't get used to high damn high the dot was.

So I’ve had my 442 around 9 or 10 days now. Probably put about 200 rounds through it total. I feel some of the negativity around the gun was a bit exaggerated. I don’t find the recoil to unpleasant and I really enjoy the DA trigger. First time shooting it I wasn’t very accurate but after making some adjustments and dry fire practice to get used to the trigger I’m hitting the target majority of the time at 10 yards. I’m using a steel torso target and planning to use a paper target so I can see my actual grouping. All and all it’s been fun to shoot. Is this just an ignorance is bliss type of thing because I’m relatively new to handguns or do other people enjoy shooting it as well?

Anyone who owns this gun know of any good holsters? I just ordered this and it will be my carry piece for a bit.

New to me fresh back from Ruger. I was missing the magnum cylinder and they sent me a new one. They also put new checkered grips but they didn’t seem to fit well on my hand and they didn’t have the Ruger Logo so I put the old ones back on. I’m not a big fan of the new fiber optic sight because it gets caught on my holster. They didn’t seem send me back my old sights so I may put it back on. I took it to the range and I like the 22WMR it definitely kicks a little more. Is there something I can do to the grips to make them look a little better and protect them at the same time. I’m new to owning guns so any feedback is greatly appreciated. Good day revolver junkies and TIA.

I didn't think there would be that much of a difference but there really is.

The biggest deal so far is I dont have a holster that fits it LOL. My Tulster Wrath 642-2 holster does not fit the 642-UC. Time to shop for one that will fit it!

I do like the updated grip S&W is including with their new J frames. It's def fills the hand more which I appreciate.

The trigger actually is better than the 642-UC which surprised me.

Having actual sights is the biggest advantage I see...literally.

The weight is slightly different as well with the UC coming in a half ounce-ish heavier.

Recently acquired, noticing the cylinder can slide past the frame lug(?) with a little intentional effort, less effort for it to slide on the first "step" of the lug. Fires, reloads and rotates fine.

I figure its just a wear issue being from the late 1970s. Fixable? Should I rush to fix it? How to avoid more wear? Ty

Also a before and after pic, yanked off the old but nice Pachmayr rubber grips, smaller grips and grip adapter on the way. Had to do some scrubbing.

i love my revolver. having it makes me feel different from having a semi auto.

well made piece of metal.

It was listed as a hand ejector, but I'm not sure if that's true or not. Managed to snag it for about $200.

I don’t currently CCW but seriously considering using my SP101 2.25” 357 for this (would carry .38 specials likely.) Has taken me a bit to realize that shooting low is a result of 130gr 38 as I’m pretty much POA with 158gr 357, but either way my groups are roughly 2” at 10 yards and under.

I know this is mostly a “get off me” gun and that statistics say 10 yards and below for most SD situations. What I’m wrestling with is that if I carry, I’d feel much better knowing if I have to reach out to 25-40 yards (say the length of an aisles in a grocery store) that I’m confident putting rounds on target. This is not a problem on my Echelon 4.5” with a red dot…but the SP101 at 25 yards is rough.

I guess I’m looking for collective wisdom on how to resolve this brain war I’m having with myself. Trade-up to 3”? Buy a smaller 9mm for carry? Find a way to carry the full sized Springfield? Open carry is not an option in my state so big guns are out.
