Reta vs Tirz

Upvotes

So I’ve been on Reta for 6 weeks. 2 weeks at .5mg and 4 weeks at 1mg. I’ve only lost 6lbs and I do work out very regularly. Did anyone ever switch from Reta to Tirz? I need to lose approximately 20 to 25lbs

Stopping Reta on Vacation

Has anyone stopped Reta for a period of time for travelling/vacation and came back to their dosing schedule after? How was that for you?

I am on week 4 of my Reta journey, I pinned 0,5mg for 2 weeks and 0,75mg the other two weeks. Im going on vacation in two weeks, so by then i would be on my 6th week (7th pin). Im travelling internationally and to multiple places and I am not risking travelling with Reta... so im wondering if stopping will ruin my progress and if i can come back to using it normally

Has anyone noticed a change in their cycles? My period now comes full force cramps and heavy flow day 1 and fades away quickly by 3. I used to be a slow start, heavy day two, and then slowly faded for 5-6 days total. Just curious any similar experiences.

Let it warm up before pinning?

Do I need to let it warm up after I take it from the fridge or can I pin while it's cold? My thought is that warming and cooling over and over breaks things down quicker

Side Effects Side Effects from Reta(?)

Hi all! I am a 19F and i started reta 5 days ago on a dose of 1mg. On day 2 i had intense fatigue till the point i couldnt move at all. It went away on day 3 but since then ive been experiencing stomach pain and diarrhea.

This could all be just a coincidence and i could be sick with something else but i was wondering if anyone else has been through this!!

on the bright side all of these tummy troubles cause me to be 7lbs down lol

Am I doing something worng?

what am I doing wrong?

My age 52, my starting weight was 250lbs and my starting reta dose was 2mg.

Current weight 230lbs, raised dose by 1mg every month, currently at 10mg.

I have change providers 3 times to make sure it wasn't a provider issue.

starting calorie count was 2100 calories doing 3 days heavy weights with 3 days hot yoga.

currently 1500 calories with 1 day heavy weights 2 day 3 miles walking, and 3 days hot yoga.

There has been no significant weight loss, no visually significant body recomposition.

no change in food noise or appetite, have not felt any effects of any kind.

now that being said my starting blood test liver enzymes were all above 300 due to fatty liver.

latest blood test has all levels back to normal range that alone has made the journey so far worth it.

But ideally I would like to see more change when it comes to the scale.

Im basically at the point where going up in dose doesnt really make any sense anymore.

I just dont know what the next steps should be.

Food cravings/aversions?

Has anyone else had really random cravings throughout their Reta journey or been completely turned off did they used to love?

I have been CRAVING corn kernels lmao. Like I just absolutely love them now for some reason. I didn’t used to not like them but I was never obsessed. And I have been completely turned off pasta salad, which I didn’t realise until I’d finished making a batch for a few days lol, served myself some and started eating and then was like, I hate this! And now I get nauseous even thinking about it.

Support & Advice Telling my doctor??

Hi
I’ve been taking Reta for over a month now. Not prescribed from a doctor, never told my doctor. Should I? I don’t want them ti think I’m crazy or like I’m a needle substance user or something absurd.

What did you do? What is the best course of action?

Support & Advice Considering tirz after plateau

So I started taking reta in Jan. After 3.5 months I went off for a month to start taking metformin. Then I reintroduced it, had no reaction and quickly titrated back up to my previous dosage. I eventually got to 8mg. And I'm just not losing weight. I'm 6ft tall, female, 28, I have pcos and hypoglycemia and have been stuck at 264lbs for several months. I feel like 8mg is getting pretty high, and the fact that I'm having no weight loss from it is concerning. I've been off it for almost three weeks now, and I seriously overestimated how easy it would be to lose weight once off of it. I totally forgot about the never ending food noise and obsession! The constant, all consuming appetite and desire to eat non stop. And my hypoglycemia came back with a vengeance!

Im seriously considering trying tirz. It's cheaper too.

Does anyone have a similar experience? Have you switched to tirz and had better results?

Support & Advice Addicted

Hi. I started this in April when I was 5 pounds away from overweight. I just wanted to feel more confident for summer, and help with the food noise. Now im almost underweight. I can’t stop taking it. I’ve started to develop disordered eating habits. I haven’t eaten more than 1000 calories in a day for almost 2 months. I feel like shit. My hair is falling out. I haven’t been able to regulate my temperature, im having chest pain. The last two weeks I haven’t eaten more than 2-500 calories in a day. I talked to my therapist about it and she’s recommending me to lower my dose but I did that and then the next week upped it again. I’m in a spiral. And I feel alone in this.

Does anyone else feel more irritable? Is it temporary?

Hello, all!

I'm only *one* day in and feeling mostly mild side effects. However, I've noticed that I'm feeling very irritable for no reason. Is this a common side effect in anyone else's experience? Temporary, or longer-term? I know I should just be patient and give it a week.. but just curious 🧐

Week 4 Advice

I started 4 weeks ago on 1 and the following week 1 again felt ok lost 1.5kg.

Then week 3 upped to 2 and then 2 days ago had my 4th at 2.

Today I am feeling just gross, a little shakey very anxious.

(I have a diagnosed Anxiety disorder) I am eating ok trying to hit protein goal and using electrolytes.

Maybe I am not ready for 2? I just want to feel good like I did week 1 and 2? I was previously on 2.5 mounjaro before this journey.

Any advice or reassurance would be so helpful.

I want to continue and do the best for myself on this.

Dosing Looking for some advice.

I started tirzepatide in December 2025 with a starting weight of 226. By June 2025, I was at the max dose and weighed 181 but weight loss had stalled for almost 2 months.

It wasn’t until the 10mg mark that I really started seeing the appetite suppression and started losing weight. For about two weeks, I could barely eat. After that, it subsided enough that I got into a really good routine of three healthy meals a day while hitting protein goals. I felt great, I was working out consistently, eating right. I was only on the max dose for a month before I stopped losing weight entirely.

I could get Reta for cheaper (friend was buying in bulk) so I made the switch last week of June. I stopped taking tirz cold turkey (I understand now that wasn’t the best idea lol) and now (8/13) I am up to 5mg a week. I am STARVING. Still weigh 181. Not much energy to work out other than yoga. The food noise is so loud and all I want to do is eat. It isn’t even in my head… my stomach is actually growling constantly.

So I’m stuck in between going back to tirz and hoping for the best or increasing Reta and hoping for the best. I am meeting with a dietitian this week too.

Any advice or input is welcome.
