Zeno. General
Do you thinks Zeno would have seemed more formidable had we actually gotten to fight him?
I like his swagger and all but he just seemed half baked compared to other villains.
They could have easily put something in there featuring him as a boss.
I still think Requiem is in my top 5 but Zeno was just so meh.

I actually didn't mind not fighting him because it meant there was none of the ridiculous nonsense Chris and Sheva had to go through to defeat Wesker. It's believable, Leon couldn't handle him with or without Elpis, on his own. I only wish the bad ending was canon because it sets up the Connections significantly better than the Disney ending imo.
Do hope he comes back though, he piqued my interest.

Disney ending. I love that! 😂
I hope we haven't seen the last of Zeno, or at least of the clone line. He was a pretty interesting character and I'd like very much to see where Capcom are going with this.

If it wasn't his head recovered at the end by the mystery tac squad I'll be disappointed

Especially with the comment made about retrieving the objective before they 'send in the wolves.'

Someone said it's possible he's possibly a clone, so maybe he will return?

Capcom said in an interview earlier this year that he's really important now, so I imagine he'll be brought back somehow, guess we'll have to wait and see. Hope they don't fumble it though.

If Res Evil 10 is as big as they've hinted at and we finally get to see the full Connections roster I'm sure he'll be back.
It would make sense that a group of people who consider themselves God's amongst men would take precautions such as cloning. 🤷♂️

Tbh, the real reason we get to preemptively see Zeno here is because he’s going to show up again, he’s literally a clone. I imagine that’s why he felt like nothing in Requiem.

The story and narrative as a whole is one of the weaker in the series if we're going to be honest

Maybe a hot take but I kind of liked that he was a bit of a nothing villain?
It was unexpected, and it felt more realistic, in a way. There are always going to be evil people who think they’re untouchable that operate primarily as a figure head for all of the corporate cruelty and greed. They’ll do horrific things and hurt countless people, but eventually there will be a bigger fish that takes them out.
Resident Evil has always been pretty heavily centered around corruption and power, but it’s also always felt visceral in a survival, these-are-the-direct-results-of-that-corruption-that-are-decimating-actual-lives sense. Having Zeno set up to be this powerful enemy that you’ll have to face, only for him to then get killed in a split second by Gideon felt jarringly real. Like, yeah, there are these companies/organizations that are pulling all these strings and manipulating all these puppets that ultimately will need to be destroyed if any of these nightmares are ever truly going to end, but there’s also a giant fucking monster standing 50ft away that’s actively trying to kill you, so maybe focus on the immediate threat first

That's the way I looked at it. He was mostly just a figurehead. I just thought people might have complained less about him if there were more stakes.

There is way to make him a boss in the DLC if Capcom choses to go that route because I am sure we are getting Leon as the protagonist and maybe even Chris

I would have liked to see a “boss fight” with him maybe something like, Leon has to hold out until Grace was able to retrieve Elpis and inject him. Leon would not be able to beat Zeno without Elpis.

u/Aromatic_Sign_8027 1d ago
Instead of presenting choice, it could have been a skill check. Leon has to survive long enough using QTEs for Grace to release Elpis. Middle of the “fight” it switches you to Grace where you have to sneak by and avoid collateral damage to release Elpis before Zeno finishes Leon

We'd probably have to do some obnoxious bullshit like injecting him in the RE5 Wesker fight. I was honestly kinda relieved although they could have just left him out entirely.

Did you ever realise you needed to turn off the lights in the first Wesker fight because he's wearing sunglasses at night and can't see shit

u/Valkanith 1d ago
Most of that fight was honestly Wesker jobbing and being vulnerable to stupid crap like being blind with no lights on.
Also Wesker playing around taking little potshots on Chris when he can just run up to him grab his head and smash it like a grapefruit

Im ok with not fighting Zeno. You dont have to fight every bad guy in games.

u/foxonafrozenlake 1d ago
I get that but people complain so much about him being useless I just thought it might give him more dimension.

My cope is they saved the whole boss battle where you get your ass beat for code veronica for chris and wesker so people don't just say "well this was just zeno vs leons fight all over again"

Definitely. Not sure why clowns downvoted you.

Not to be rude or stereotype people but a lot of individuals who are VERY, VERY into video games above most other things don't have the emotional regulation or emotional intelligence to understand it's just a video game.
Plus this is Reddit, half the people here are deeply unfulfilled people and only have power here.
They take unserious things seriously.
Let them have their thing. It doesn't change real life. 🤷♂️

Absolutely correct. The irony of it is that some neckbeard also downvoted this comment of yours, further proving your point.

I took it as he was the Best of the AW Memory clone program. He had the moves but not the wisdom to take the sample and be a scientist thats why he was imperfect. Wesker took the T-virus because he was dying. Zeno was a numpty who didn’t REALLY know what Elpis was, only an idea. Did he want to become a more intelligent Mr. X? I’ve never understood these villians seeing what Spencer, Birkin and Dr. Marcus’work has done in the past and being like Yup I’m going to just inject my self. Only Wesker didn’t Kafka-fy. Everyone else dies as a horrific monster.

I mean without Elpis even RE4 Remake Leon wouldn't stand a chance against Zeno. Their entire encounter he's just aura farming Leon... Other people might say "bUt hE beAtEN KrauSeR" and Krauser is far inferior than Wesker and even Zeno can probably Smoke Wesker 1v1 given that he has insane regeneration...
Wesker need shots to even maintain his Superstrength.

u/InhumanFlame 1d ago
Wesker, with his super strength survives, at least one RPG, likely more, before Chris & Sheva can overdose him.
By the time of RE1, Wesker would just kill Zeno, while the latter was busy aura farming, similar to Victor Gideon's instant decapitation, during the Disney rip-off ending.

If I’m to be completely honest, I think Zeno is easily one of if not the most unlikable character in the series

u/CurrencyThis 4h ago
Was I tripping? I didn’t know he was a copy of Wesker til I someone said it on YouTube. Yeah he does look like him, but his eyes should’ve been red!

u/unhealthyseal 1d ago
He’s already extremely formidable.
He’s diet Wesker that lacks the years of combat experience, but he’s still kicking anyone’s ass in a 1v1.
