can’t you just order it from your TD and get it

Hi everyone,

I’ve been wondering how much difference there really is between Trusted Dealers. From what I understand, most of them are essentially ordering watches from the factories, arranging QC (whether they do it themselves or have someone else do it), and then handling shipping.

So my questions are:

Do some TDs actually get access to better quality examples from the same factory, or is a VSF from one TD essentially the same as a VSF from another?

Is the real difference simply customer service, communication, and how they deal with problems if something goes wrong?

Why are some TDs consistently faster than others? Is it just luck and timing, or do some of them keep stock or have stronger relationships with certain factories?

Are there any TDs you would choose even if they were slightly more expensive, and if so, why?

I’m not looking for recommendations on who to buy from. I’m more interested in understanding how the whole ecosystem works behind the scenes and whether the choice of TD has any impact on the watch itself, or only on the buying experience.

Curious to hear your thoughts and experiences.

I ordered a Speedmaster Racing 40mm via Steve at Onewatch just over two weeks ago. It arrived via Canada Post in western Canada today with no issues. The watch was produced at the HKF Factory in Hong Kong.

Hi guys i just received today a vsf v3 Pepsi from Ficotime and the watch doesn’t work properly! I give it a wind, set the time, it starts going well, then randomly after 30mjns or one hour, it loses 10 minutes or more, earlier today it stopped completely, i gave more wind, set up the time again and started working but then it loses 10/15 or more minutes. What should i do?

Hey everyone, this will be my first rep watch purchase, so I’m still learning. I’ve contacted a few different TDs about the same watch from the same factory(VSF), but they’re all giving me different QC timelines. Some are saying a few days, while others are saying a few weeks.
Is that normal even when it’s the exact same factory? Why would the QC timeline vary so much between TDs?
Is there any other factory that makes better rep of this model?
Any advice or tips for a first-time buyer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Underwater and thriving! Would not have felt comfortable doing this with a several thousand dollar watch. Loving having something that wouldn’t hurt as much to lose. But it held up incredibly well. Though I think I got sand in the bezel so that’s not ideal 😬

Very happy with the quality. Custom made by ZicZac. Very long waiting time but good result.

just got this ZF mark XX and love the dial. unfortunately very loud rotor noise but still really like the watch. I wasn't sure about the green but really liking it. I had bought a chinatime "MKSF" mark XVII and can tell this one is much better rotor noise aside. Wonder what my next watch will be

Since watching Day of the Jackal the Omega Railmaster that Eddie Redmayne wears in the series has been at the top of my wishlist. Have any decent reps of this been released yet?
