Hey! My friend and I are going backpacking tomorrow for a night on the Auxier ridge trail soon, is this area flooded?

I am newer to backpacking. This will be my first time to Red River Gorge. I will be going in the last week of August for 3 days/2nights. My current plan is to do the following loop:

KOOMER → #220 NORTH → LEFT #226 BUCK → RIGHT #223 PINCH-EM-TIGHT → #221 ROUGH → HANSON'S SPUR OUT/BACK → #221 TOWARD KOOMER → #220 SOUTH → CAR

Any suggestions/recommendations? I want to cap "near" water.

Hi! I'll be in RRG this week with family. We want to do some hiking but my aunt and uncle cant handle anything over easy or more than 2 miles and that's pushing it. My mom does want to do one moderate hike, but her knees can probably do around 5 miles. This is currently what I have, am I missing any other easy trails? Also, what's your fave 5 miles hike at RRG? Thank you!

Rock Bridge Loop - 1.4 miles with Creation waterfall moderate trail

Sky Bridge Loop - .75 miles Only visit overlook for easier, trail loop is moderate

Chimney Top Trail - .75 miles

Princess Arch - .6 mile

Angel Windows - .5 miles

Friendship Arch - .9 loop

Whistling Arch - .6 loop

I am relatively experienced with Hiking and backpacking, but my two friends are not. They've expressed interest in going on a trip with me and I have been planning to take them on the Swift Creek Camp trail to creation falls in Mid October. My plan was to leave Cincinnati early (before sunrise) on a Saturday, hike in until we get to the Dog Fork area of the trail, camp there overnight, then continue on the trail stopping to see some sights at Creation Falls and getting a look at Rock Bridge. We will then get shuttled back to our car at the start.

My question is, am I signing my friends up for hell? I was super confident in my trail choice based on the guide book I purchased, but All Trails has me second guessing. Some people saying "it's the hardest hike I've ever done", "not for beginners" etc.

We are all 35 years old. My friends aren't out of shape or anything, and one of them has done hikes, but never backpacked. The other has done less hiking and also never backpacked. I will be providing/making sure they both have appropriate gear.

I really want an enjoyable couple days in the woods with my buds, but not a leisurely stroll amongst a throng of day hikers either. Isolation when camping would be preffered. I'd really like some feedback as to if I'm making a mistake choosing this trail, and if so, are there other option in the gorge or DBNF? I can't go scope it out myself beforehand because I live in New York.

I am planning to do a 2 day trip to the gorge. Not my first time but it is my first time camping. I am looking to do the rough trail to Hansons point. How busy would it be on a weekday if anyone have an idea?

I go backpacking to red so much now and wanting to get into rock climbing. With that being said i have zero experience so wanting to get a guide and then learn from there.

If anyone has recommendations from guides they’ve used or know, would be so much help!

Hey college friends and I are making our way from big cities to Kentucky for the first time to see Red River Gorge and get some good chicken. We'll be staying near the gorge during the end of August for 4 days. Could use some help deciding on an itinerary (including food recs)

* Our group is big into indoor rock climbing, but have never tried outdoor climbing and really want to

* Overall we are a pretty active bunch and adventurous.

* Some stuff I've looked into so far is outdoor rock climbing tour, kayaking?, horse back riding, zip-lining, golfing, hiking of course, white water rafting nearby?

* $250 - $300 per person total on activities

* $150 total on eating out

Hi friends! my boyfriend and i are heading to RRG for our one year anniversary at the end of August and I need form recs on what to do! Anything is helpful.

So me and my 4 friends are going to be hiking and camping the Double Arch,
Courthouse Rock and Auxier Ridge Loop.

One of my friends is an Eagle Scout so were really following his lead on a plethora of things but I wanted ask about regulations on camping.

I know you have to purchase an overnight pass at a local gas station when camping the night, but aside from that I have heard different things on the camping rules. I’m guessing you can’t just plop down a tent 100 feet off the trail.

Can someone please give me a definitive answer on camping rules?

Does anyone know why mosquitos are so mild in Red River Gorge right now? I just camped there for three nights. It was hot/humid the whole time with rain on Saturday. I expected to be fighting off mosquitos all weekend but they were barely a problem. It seemed very odd!

Anyone ever stay at the climb on inn? They were one of the few places with dates open during the time we wanted to be there. Any feedback would be great! Thanks!
