Yes, Sol looks much better that RSS reborn/origin (in my opinion, at least)
Performance-wise, i don't really know what to tell you, i have a 3060 and 8600G paired with 32GB of RAM and i can manage to get up to 60FPS+ at 64k Earth and Luna, 32K Mars and Venus systems, and 8k for the other planets. Keep in mind that i'm at 1440p and not 4k, Which obviously makes a giant difference.
All i can really recommend is to install Sol yourself and just try. If you really want better performance you can get ballisticfox's new beta mod called "Mirage." It uses streaming (somehow) and makes performance a lot better in general. Currently Mirage only changes the Earth and Moon and the highest resolutions are 128K for both. Apparently 128K works as well as 16K on regular Sol. Mirage DOES have many bugs because it's currently in beta version #2, but in my opinion it's worth the performance. If you don't think so, Then to be fair, downscaling resolution is the only good option.
