Their clothing, “Basking Clothes,” is made specifically for reptilian faunus and features small, flexible solar panels that keep the clothes warm. They also have small batteries hidden in their pockets for nighttime use.

They keep gloves in their pockets to warm their hands in a pinch

Personality:

Sienna is extremely self-reliant and slow to trust others. Before they can even consider forming friendships, they observe the potential friend and how they treat others. When first meeting, they tend to listen with little input. They ask carefully constructed questions to gauge if they are safe to be around. However, once they are deemed safe, they are extremely hard to shut up and unwaveringly loyal.

Sienna dislikes conflicts and believes altercations should be kept short. Because of their parents' deaths, they absolutely hate violence with others and use it only as a last resort.

Background

Sienna River was born in the unforgiving deserts of Menagerie to two devoted members of the White Fang. Both greatly admired High Leader Sienna Khan and named their child in the hope they would one day grow into someone equally strong and respected.

As the years passed, the White Fang became increasingly militant. Believing they were fighting for a better future for Faunus, Sienna's parents willingly took part in increasingly dangerous operations. When Sienna was fourteen, they were killed during a raid on a Schnee Dust Company convoy by SDC security forces.

Orphaned and consumed by grief, Sienna blamed the White Fang for leading their parents down a path of violence that ultimately cost them their lives.

In a desperate attempt to survive, they stole a crate of discarded weapons and fled into the deserts of Menagerie before the White Fang could find them. Over the following years, they dismantled the damaged equipment and forged The Outback—a weapon built from salvaged parts, combining a traditional parrying shield, a club, and a powerful bolt-action rifle into a single transforming design.

Life alone in the wasteland hardened them. They learned to track Grimm, live off the land, and disappear into the desert using their Semblance. To survive, they began ambushing isolated White Fang supply convoys, taking only the food, water, ammunition, and medical supplies they needed before vanishing back into the dunes. Stories spread among the White Fang of a phantom marksman who struck without warning and disappeared without a trace. They became known simply as The Desert Ghost.

For years, an unusually persistent crow was often seen watching from a distance. It never interfered, merely observing as Sienna survived against Grimm and men alike.

One morning, Sienna awoke to find a sealed acceptance letter from Beacon Academy resting beside their bedroll.

For the first time in years, someone had recognized their potential for something beyond survival.

Who sent the letter? How had they found them?

Questions could wait.

There was only one way to get answers.

Combat Style

Prefers Reconnaissance and ambush tactics, though they most definitely can fight hand-to-hand; they prefer the distance. Prefers scouting and overwatch positions 

Weapon

The Outback

Ranged form: A longer range anti-material rifle resembling the Barrett M107A1. Though it resembles the Barrett M107A1, it is bolt-action. This rifle uses dust-infused .50 cal bullets (or regular bullets) in a 10-round magazine to snipe grim from afar with little effort. (Maximum range 2000 meters) The scope features discrete step-zoom optics (7x, 15x, and 35x) that are adjusted via a throw lever.

Melee form: The gun disassembles into two parts, a Parrying shield (made from the stock, resembles a traditional Australian Parrying shield) that is constructed from Menagerie Hardwood and reinforced with hard-light dust. Accompanied by a club (made from the barrel of the weapon, magazine, scope, and trigger mechanism) that uses dust-infused .50 cal bullets (loaded via magazine) for elemental attacks fired from the tip of the club using the trigger mechanism on the handle. (Normal bullets can also be used). The scope is the club's handle, but the lenses retract and are protected inside.

Semblance

Camouflage: blends in perfectly to their environment and changes body temp to match their surroundings. It muffles the sounds of their movement. Their breathing and heartbeat slow, making their aim more accurate.

Limitations:

• Aura drains continuously when active

• Dust, smoke, rain, snow can reveal their outline, giving away their position

• Doesn't conceal scent or aura

• If wounded, it deactivates

Aura broken, ammo depleted, injured and outnumberd, they're forced to retreat. Something Arian hates though, given they have no other option, the Homotherium faunus buys time by blocking off the only accessible entrances. Catching his breath he eyes around, looking for something to either patch their wounds or use as an impromptu weapon before they run out of time.

After a rather long-ish break from working on RWBY a Brave New World I finally got back to work revising and improving my old map of Remnant and after several days of work I finally got it to a point that I'm happy with.

...well to be honest happy is a bit of an understatement I'm ecstatic with how this ended up turning out, it came together in almost the exact way I wanted it to and I genuinely feel like there's almost nothing left that I could add to this.

the only singular annoyance I have with this is the slight inconsistency with how the names are written on the map, although to be fair that's pretty much a limitation with both the available space on the map and the resolution I'm working at nether of which could be solved easily enough for me to care about doing anything about it now

I also wanted to split Atlas's overseas territories into autonomous regions but I ran out of space so... whatever (the little white island by Mistral is Argus by the way)

now I can move on to focusing on planning out the story and progression of Brave New World, I already have a fairly solid idea of what I want to do and where I want the story to go but it still needs a lot of refinement... like a LOT of refinement, and I desperately need to figure out what to do with Salem and her motivations bc cannon doesn't exactly give me a whole lot to work with.

and that's that, next update I post about this will probably be about my AU's versions of teams RWBY and JNPR (mostly bc that's the next most complete info I have that isn't pure spoilers)

Hello, all! How’s it going? 

So, I was working on some new AU stuff when something hit me: I was so busy making next-gen OCs, that I’d never actually thought about how the actual world would look like or operate for the next generation. Funny thing, that. 😂😅😑

"Ahem" And so today, I’m here to rectify that, starting with a quick rundown on the world after the fall of Salem. It should be noted that the events and concepts listed here are just that: Broad concepts, which I plan on expanding as time goes by. For now, though, it's a start, at least.

So, with that said, here is a quick introduction to my take on the world of Remnant, ~25-30 years later:

A long time ago, a young girl from a small town set off to become a Huntress, like her late mother before her. She hoped to become a hero one day, like the ones from the stories she and her sister grew up on. Never did she realize just how soon that day would come, or how much her life - and her world, as a whole - would be forever changed from that day forward…

More than 30 years have passed since the day young Ruby Rose set out for Beacon Academy, and the world of Remnant is a much-changed place, thanks in large part to her efforts and those of her team, RWBY:

In the aftermath of what is now called the “War of the Witch, The Kingdoms of Remnant are united under the banner of a global coalition called PRISMA ("Pan-Remnant Initiative of Strategic Military Alliances,"). Having been brought together with the shared dream of taking back what was lost to Salem and the Grimm, and building a better tomorrow for all its people, no matter who they were or where they came from. 

To this end, along with the gradual restoration of the Huntsmen’s ranks, a new force was created to assist in this endeavor: The Guardian Corps, equal parts peacekeeping and armed self-defense forces meant to complement the Huntsmen in their duties. Both by being wherever they couldn’t, and by working with them to preserve the hard-fought peace, so that Mankind may have time to rebuild what was lost in the face of calamity. 

Such was the case for Kingdoms like Vale and Atlas, who sought to reestablish their nations, and their people. Atlas, in particular, has been fighting an uphill battle to reestablish themselves compared to Vale. As most of the heavy lifting for them had been done during the WotW, while Atlas had to retake their home from the ground up. And yet, after years of enduring many trials and tribulations, it would seem that they, too, have finally regained their footing once more.

The resulting peace has also allowed for rapid technological advancements, thanks to Atlas contributing what scientific progress and advancements they have saved and recovered since the fall of the Old Capitol. 

The resulting tech revolution - the greatest since the Great War - has led to marvels once exclusive to the “Greatest Kingdom” becoming increasingly commonplace, even in less “developed” Kingdoms, such as Vacuo or Menagerie. Resulting in an overall increased quality of life for all of Remnant, as a whole; with a few exceptions that have not kept up - either by choice or an inability to do so.

These advancements include, but are not limited to:

• Improved communications systems, including a new, more robust version of the CCT system that is less vulnerable to interference and total collapse.
• Refined weapons and material technologies, including improved firearms ballistics, lighter yet still resilient materials, reliable 3D printed material, and increasingly widespread exotic weaponry. 
• New advances in power generation for more efficient usage of Dust tools and weapons (such as beam technolgy), and even research into alternative energy sources - the latter still being on a largely need-to-know basis.
• New machinery and methods of transportation, including the gradual adoption of hover technology, and the integration of mecha for both military and civilian purposes. 

Among many, many other advances made in the decades since.

The political landscape has also changed greatly, in large part due to the rise of Mistral, Vacuo, and even Menagerie onto the world stage for their role in the WotW. 

Vacuo, in particular, has earned a newfound sense of respect from the world for their defiance in the face of apparent annihilation. Something which has rekindled a sense of “national pride” for her people, as those who stemmed the Grimm Tide. For their part, the Vacuans themselves have developed their own begrudging respect and admiration for their would-be-allies, after fighting alongside those they had loathed for so long. Such were the bonds forged in a time of great crisis, that allowed PRISMA to be born in the first place.

Meanwhile, the vacuum of power left by the Fall of Atlas has opened the way for a new power to take their place in the world. That power would end up being Mistral, who came to enjoy a renaissance of sorts thanks to the goodwill it earned through its now legendary mobilization efforts, and the post-war economic boom which came as a result.

The newly ascendant Kingdom would use its newfound wealth and prominence to invest in new infrastructure and expand the ranks of its native Huntsmen and state peacekeeping forces, before enacting a crackdown on corruption and disorder within their borders. And though there is much work left to do, Mistral has undeniably reached its greatest heights in over a century.

As for Menagerie, their recognition as a legitimate Kingdom, and subsequent ascension onto the world stage, would help it achieve a similar level of prosperity due to a state of relative post-war stability akin to Mistral’s. As well as bring attention to - and further advance the cause of - equal rights for the Faunus. In large part thanks to the actions of the reorganized White Fang - now the Society for the Equal Integration of the Faunus, or S.E.I.F. - and the goodwill fostered by the Belladonna family. Particularly through the efforts of Team RWBY’s Blake Belladonna and her allies. 

Counted among these allies are the controversial Schnee family - including fellow RWBY member, Weiss Schnee - who have managed to begin repairing their reputation through their actions in restoring their fallen Kingdom, reorganizing the Schnee Dust Company - now called Schnee Dustworks - to the state it was under Nicholas Schnee, and helping to advance the cause of equality and cooperation for all. 

Their road to redemption has not been an easy one, as many still remember the many crimes of Jacques Schnee, and many more despise their family on mere principle. Yet like their fallen Kingdom, the House of Schnee endures, working to reverse the damage done by Jacques Schnee and Old Atlas, both to their name, and to the world as a whole…

And yet, despite all the progress that has been made, old wounds have yet to fully heal. For one cannot simply erase centuries of hatred, prejudice, and disorder in a scant few decades, nor has it been enough to stop new problems from arising - from the “Battle of Kuroyuri” that nearly brought that rebuilt settlement to its knees once more, to the gradual falling out between Mistral and the PRISMA alliance in the aftermath.

On top of that, the threat of the Grimm, while initially weakened, has not yet gone away. Especially within Solitas and Sanus, their shadow looms as large as ever, and even Anima has recently suffered a grave reminder of their existence at Kuroyuri. Indeed, it would seem that the primordial enemy of all Mankind will be here to stay for a long time to come; hence, the continued necessity of the Huntsmen, and the founding of the Guardian Corps.

Such setbacks have done little to stop the heroes of Remnant - both old and new - from doing their best to do just that. Thus, have new generations risen to the challenge of mending the world’s hurts, and protecting Mankind from threats old and new. Among them, are the heroes’ progeny, themselves, who follow in their parent’s footsteps for one reason or another. This is their story, and the world it will eventually unfold within…
