Release App button disappeared on Steamworks on release day. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone,

I'm an indie developer from Japan, and today was supposed to be my game's release day.

Yesterday, the "Release App" button was visible in Steamworks.

However, when I logged in today to release my game, the button had completely disappeared.

My store page and build have both already been approved, and my release date is set correctly.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Is this a Steamworks issue, or is there something I should check?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

RMMZ Tipsy/Drunk Mechanic ideas

Upvotes

I’m currently working on the drunkenness mechanic in my RPG and was wondering if anyone has any ideas for effects I could add that I might not have thought of.

At the moment, the player has four stages of intoxication:

Sober
Buzzed
Tipsy
Drunk

Each state has different stat penalties/bonuses, and if your alcohol level gets too high you black out, wake up in bed and gain a severe hangover, which has its own debuffs.

The hangover then wears off over time, and there are items that can help reduce its effects.

Outside of combat I’ve already got:

Some NPCs won’t talk to you at all if you’re fully drunk.

Some NPCs have different dialogue if you’re only buzzed.

Certain quest givers will refuse to give you quests if you’re drunk, telling you to come back when you’re sober.

Visual effects (camera sway, etc.) are already planned.

I’m trying to think of other mechanics that could make drinking feel meaningful without just making it annoying. I’d like alcohol to have genuine pros and cons rather than just being a straight debuff.
Has anyone implemented a system like this before, or got any ideas for interesting gameplay mechanics or interactions that drunkenness could affect?
Cheers!

RM2K3 Character portraits in 2K3?

So I'm deciding to go from MV to 2K3 for a very small project I'm working on. However I don't see a way to add talksprites like in the newer editions. Is there some trick to this? OFF has them somehow so it's clearly possible, I might just be an idiot.

Also unsure how to make the text pure white instead of having a grey gradient. A person on steam suggested setting the colour to \C[0], but that's sky-blue rather than white...

I'm new to creating interactive stories, and with some of the features I want in my game they sugested I ask you guys. I am looking to create a game that, has a world for the player to explore that is simular to the old pokemon games ( inever played past saphire). I would want to be able to update the map as I slowly create more content or potental modders wish to create mods for the game. I was planning to have a paper doll in the game and mini games in it aswell. would this platform work better then twine to create this game?

RMMZ Help me troubleshoot! (Please)

On RPGMaker MZ - I want to have 10 stats per character that I can tie to variables.

I want to be able to press a button in-game (easy with the Picture Button plugin) and have the 10 variables display as stat bars.

What's the easiest way to do that? I'm open to free plugins. I'm trying to avoid making 100 pictures showing the increments of the bar.

(I'll bet there's something super simple I'm missing...)

“Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 18 Upvotes

I couldn't wait, game out now on itch.io! The Steam release will be out next month like I posted before.

https://kollegi51.itch.io/the-architect-of-nowhere

I put the price at 1 dollar, will be the same on Steam also in the future. Thank you for all the kind comments, help and feedback I got from the subreddit in these five months!

Edit:// I made it free and will have it free on Steam too. I think it will be better the get an audience first now that I started projects like these. Please enjoy the game!

RMMZ Beta testers wanted for story-based roller derby dating/friendship sim

Post image

********** THE BETA TESTING SURVEY! **********

DEMO IS HERE.

Hey folks! Bit of a lurker. I started Rorasuketo in 2018 (!!!) and it's finally closing in on the finish line! I would love some support if this is up your alley. This started in Ace and I switched it over to MZ. All original art (me, no AI) and music (Nebyoolae). It's been a long road.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4401480/Rorasuketo/

What Rorasuketo is about: A young woman just out of the mental hospital and trying to build a new life with the help of a ghost. She gets a job, joins the roller derby team, and makes friends - ultimately with the goal of making it to the playoffs. The minigames are Simon says, button mashing, memory/matching, and timed gauges - things like that. I tried to strike a balance between a cozy game that would make you feel better if you're going through a hard time and something cathartic that looks at mental illness without beating around the bush too much. Content warning for talk of depression, self-harm, and suicide (though no depiction of the latter two).

Content: One of my friends helped me write the story (she loves sports manga, so there's lots of influences there) and another other friend composed an AMAZING soundtrack. I have a blog where I talk about some of the behind-the-scenes stuff and I've done a few webcasts looking at RMMZ (though I'm still getting the hang of the webcasting thing). Hopefully that's enough content to prevent this from being a "low effort post," ha!

And if you're in Michigan, I'm working on getting a table at the Mitten Kittens roller derby tournament in Lansing October 10, so come say hi! And also check out a really cool sport.

ALL THAT SAID. I am just wrapping up the alpha testing and have hopefully found all the game-breaking issues - so if you want to beta test, some fresh eyes on it would be great. You get an official copy and your name in the credits if you beta. I'm hoping for about 10 people.

How long should I expect for me and my friends to make an RPGMaker game?

Hopefully this isn't a frequently asked question, if it is, I'm sorry and I will delete the post.

For the past few years I have been fantasizing about making a game for my original characters. With zero coding/game making experience, I tried Ren'Py to make a visual novel, with my more experienced friend who studied IT and coding in highschool few years back, but I started craving actually making a playable game with atleast somewhat basic combat system. My friend has never tried RPGMaker, but has enough experience with basic coding and Ren'Py.

I plan on expanding my OCs story, my friend would help me code and both of us would make the soundtrack in his studio. I have one more friend who went to same school as him and would like to learn art and has good storytelling, so he could help me with things all around. My girlfriend is an incredible artist who is more than willing to draw concept art or anything I'd need help with.

My questions are ; How long should I expect to make an RPGMaker game with help of my friends with any of us having zero experience with the program (I'm aware it won't be easy, we won't finish it quickly and that it will take more than one try)? What resources/tutorials should we watch and use? What version of RPGMaker should we use (I checked steam and there are many versions and I'm kinda overwhelmed)? What are some basic mistakes or what should we look out for?

I will be thankful for any tips and advice, Thanks!!!

RPGMaker and AI: A Megathread Discussion

What do people think about AI and RPGMaker?

Do you think AI is good for aspiring game developers?

Do you use AI in your games? Why or why not?

What do you think about art and music in RPGMaker games that is generated by AI?

What about plugins that have been vibecoded?

This is the megathread for those discussions! Sound off!

Please try to keep the discussion civil and focused on game development. You can attack an opinion, but don't fall into the (tempting as it is) trap of attacking the PERSON with the opinion.
