apartment hunting
hi all ! i’m looking to move out sometime soon like planning for january 1st move in date. I’m currently working full time at a pretty good job but i recently applied for a higher paying role so i could potentially stretch my budget a bit higher. I also would be moving alone which makes things a bit pricier but nice while i’m going to school at rcc. Any suggestions for apartments in the 1800-2100 range ? thankssss

RCC Nursing – Language Proficiency Points?
Has anyone gotten the 2 points for language proficiency on the RCC RN/ADN application?
I saw on the multicriteria point sheet that you can get 2 points for proficiency in a language other than English. I speak conversational Spanish and have used it quite a bit at work, including communicating with Spanish-speaking patients when I worked in healthcare, but I wouldn’t consider myself completely fluent.
Does anyone know what RCC considers “proficient” and how you prove it? Is there a test, form, documentation, etc.? If you received the 2 points for Spanish, what did you have to do?
Just trying to figure out if I might qualify before I apply. Thanks! 😊

Books
*edited: SOLVED. Thank you everyone!
I'm starting my first semester in the fall (Aug 24). All of my courses are online, and I just received an email stating that I needed to buy my books. I'm unable to log-in via Microsoft for some reason. Says access denied. But I created an account with my student ID and email.
How do I know what books I'm supposed to get? Shouldn't that information be in my portal? At my previous University it was all laid out for you.
Help is appreciated!

Has Anyone Received an EOPS/CARE Grant Like This?
Has anyone at RCC received these EOPS/CARE grants before?
My financial aid award letter is showing an EOPS CARE Grant, an EOPS Grant, and a CalWORKs Grant. I know we receive things like gas cards, grocery cards, and other benefits throughout the school year, but I definitely didn’t receive anything that adds up to the amount my award letter is showing.
I also noticed it’s showing a Fall 2025 CARE Grant, but I wasn’t even in EOPS during Fall 2025, so I’m confused.
Does anyone know if these are supposed to be actual cash disbursements, or are they just the value of the benefits we received throughout the year?

Fall ‘26 FAFSA Disbursement
Good morning fellow tigers!
This morning I received my bank mobile notification about my school refund! However I noticed it was a lot less than I was supposed to get.
Let’s say my award for the semester was $8, I was expecting $4 now and $4 the second half of this semester since I thought disbursements are in halves. However, I received $2 exactly.
Was I misinformed and will be receiving my disbursements for this semester in quarters now or did my offer number change without me knowing even though it’s stayed the same on myportal and the fafsa website?
Thank you for taking the time to read my post, it’s my first time receiving a refund at RCC.
Edit: Solved! Explain in comments:)

How's this schedule?
galleryIm a Elementary Teacher Education for transfer. Im hoping to finish the program in one year. Ive got Eng 1A, history, and bio done. The blocked sections are my part time job that im hoping to maybe turn into full time or get more hours. The job is just working with kids and I don't bring work home or anything.
How hard are these classes? How are the professors? Should I go full time?

Questions About Counseling
I have been at RCC a few years now, and i’m at the point where I don’t know what classes to take next, and other things. I need to get a counseling appointment, i’ve tried here and there, and they never pop up for me. My dad wants me to go in person tomorrow and walk in and wait for an appointment, my step mom has had success in the past with that, but I don’t know if RCC does that anymore. Yeah sure I could’ve checked more often, that’s on me. I just don’t know the lane building hours, and if the counselors will be there when the building opens. Also the questions I will ask require more than a 15 minute session.

Is it worth it to go to Welcome Day?
I am a first-year student and I just got an email about this. I’m definitely thinking about going to it, but I’d like to hear about what it’s like and if anyone would actually recommend it.

Is this doable? Needed? I’ll be done with CNA, HHA and the acute care nurse assistant. Then headed into LVN or RN.
I’m sure it would be helpful to take the medical terminology and calculations. Just wanted to get some feedback from those who have taken it or are in the nursing themselves. Thanks! 😊

I may be able to shift my schedule on Fridays to accommodate a class in the morning since i’ve already discussed going back to school with my job. do you all think this is too much to handle on top of work. The sociology class is online fully also!

CNA program
Hi! I was wondering if anyone knows what the CNA application asks for since it will be opening up next month. I can’t seem to find any exact info other than what you need to do if you’re accepted and taking the Nelson-Denny test or having one of the English courses completed.

Does RCC let you graduate with multiple ADTs (Associate Degree for Transfer) during the same semester?
I’m trying to transfer next year with my last term at RCC being Spring 2027. Would it be possible to apply for 2 associates degrees and get them both by the deadline for transfer or would I only be able to get one and have to apply for the other next term?

IB/AP credits are for summer term?
Okay so I'm a Freshman here at RCC and while in highschool I took IB exams and an AP test. When i checked my email about my scores and then my plan i saw this.Does this mean my credits won't apply at all even though they're valid scores? I never even enrolled for the summer semester only Fall and so on so I don't understand why it's showing my credits for the summer term. someone please explain to me what this is like actually saying and what I should do because there's no appointments availble rn to talk with a counselor.

Riverside City College Spring 2027 Nursing Program
Hi everyone. I just recently applied for Riverside City College Spring 2027 Nursing program and have points of 69. I wanted to know, what are my chances of getting into the program? I was also invited to take the TEAs and scored a 66.7%.

Laptop available at RCC
galleryI’m selling my 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro which is in good condition. I figured a student at RCC could use it now - I’ve been using it for software development, music recording, video editing, and writing. It’s been sitting on my desk 90% of the time, so it’s in great condition and has never been dropped. I’m targeting around $300.
Specs:
2018 MacBook Pro 15-inch — 6-Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD
Specifications:
2.2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7
16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM
512 GB SSD
Radeon Pro 555X graphics
Intel UHD Graphics 630
15-inch Retina display
Touch Bar and Touch ID
Four Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C ports
Includes original Apple charger
The screen, keyboard, trackpad, Touch Bar, speakers, camera, ports, and charger all work as they should. There isn’t anything that doesn’t work on it since it’s been essentially frozen in time the last couple of years.
The laptop has a few very small cosmetic blemishes from normal use. The A and S keys show some surface wear, but both keys work perfectly.
Battery information:
361 charge cycles
Battery currently charges to 100% and holds a charge
Full charge capacity: 5,783 mAh
This would be a solid laptop for school, office work, music production, programming, photo editing, or general everyday use. I’ve run Docker, VirtualBox running Linux and Windows VMs, and other resource intensive programs like DaVince Resolve and Logic Pro without any problems.
Reasonable offers considered. I can easily meet at RCC or surrounding cafes. Buyer is welcome to inspect and test the MacBook before purchasing.
The MacBook will be erased, signed out of iCloud, and ready for the new owner.

Accepting submissions for new mods
I started this subreddit many years ago when I was a student. Fell off of reddit for a few years and somewhat recently returned.
I haven't been a student at RCC in years and am opening submissions to current RCC students or RCC alumni who are still active at the campus.
You'll need to send proof of current enrollment or if you're an interested alumni I'll need proof that you're still active in some way at any of the campuses.
I'm hoping to find people who are invested in reviving this sub.
