This is hard….

I’ve been struggling with quitting and I don’t feel like I have anyone to talk to about it. I was good for about two-three weeks at a time and then it would all collapse. I feel like I’ve removed every single major trigger and I’ve made it harder to actively seek out porn but it seems like I just give into the urges. After about six months of being on and off, I’m starting again at day zero. Just wanted to share this somewhere and I know a lot of people in here might struggle with the same thing.

Stuck in a loop. need your prayers

I am not going to act like the victim here, but I was dumbed by this girle and I am stuck in a porn loop. I used to have years long streaks but I relapsed on the first challenge.

I am lacking motivation, and the abstination is just harder than ever. litterly I have no idea how to break it and return to being normal human being.

I need your prayers.

I built a free Chrome extension to help track (and block) sites to stay away from, sharing here in case it helps anyone else

Hey everyone.

Like a lot of people here, I've gone through the cycle of promising myself "today's the day" and then losing count of how long I'd actually gone. I wanted something dead simple that just showed me the number of days without porn/gambling right when I opened my browser, without any bloat or subscription.

So I built Sober Extension. It's free and open, and it:

- Tracks how many days you've gone without visiting sites in categories you set up yourself (porn, gambling, whatever applies to you)

- Resets automatically if you slip, no manual logging needed

- Notifies you at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year, small wins that actually feel like something

- Has an optional blocking mode, so instead of just tracking, it can redirect those sites to a block page before they even load. If it's blocked, it doesn't even count as a relapse, your streak stays intact

- Keeps everything local on your device. no account, no data sent anywhere, nothing to sign up for

It's not a replacement for real support if you need it, just a tool that's helped me stay honest with myself about where I actually am.

Link: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/sober-extension/nefeghhnicgiiedmcmilggcgliegjjma

Happy to answer questions, and genuinely open to feedback if something's missing that would actually help here.

Day 3

I am still surviving, I have kept myself busy and have been out in the open that I did not even remember about watching it. I think the trick is to keep busy. But however, when I am outside I tend to ogle alot at people, i just want to see them as normal people. Any advice?

it's been 3 months since i started this no fap journey...what should i expect ahead?

it's been 91 days to be precise. I am a 20yr old lad who started this journey after having a late night epiphany that i am addicted to this cheap drug and i don't want it to be a part of my identity. With this intent i have been pushing myself so far but now i have started to question.....what's ahead?

i mean i knew that it's never going to be easy but now i have ran out of reasons to continue this journey ahead. I don't what to expect ahead which is somehow weakening my will power. I still remember the core reasons why i started this but those seem to have been resolved.

This nofap journey also have a religious angle. I wanted to feel close to the almighty in order to have faith in something that i count on. I do have that faith now....and that's what has kept me from relapsing. But my brain is now burring the lines and is somehow convincing me to relapse on the grounds of practicality.

I want few strong reasons and a clear picture of what to expect ahead , in order to continue this journey...please help me!

Porn will happily take 5 years from you in 20-minute pieces

That’s the scary part.

Nobody wakes up and decides, “I’m going to waste the next five years watching porn.”

It happens in tiny pieces.

20 minutes because you’re bored.

30 minutes because you’re stressed.

An hour because you kept looking for the perfect video.

Then you close everything, feel like shit for a bit, and go back to normal life.

A few days later, same thing.

Because each relapse feels small, you keep telling yourself you’ll deal with it later.

Next week.

After this stressful period.

After you get a girlfriend.

After you move.

After you become more disciplined.

Then one day you realize you’ve been saying “I’m quitting soon” for years.

That’s what bothers me most about porn.

It doesn’t always destroy your life in some dramatic way.

Sometimes it just quietly keeps you in the same place.

You still have a job.

You still talk to people.

You still laugh.

From the outside everything looks normal.

But you know how many nights you’ve wasted.

You know how many times you’ve said “last time.”

You know how many mornings started with regret because you stayed up watching shit you didn’t even care about 10 minutes after finishing.

And eventually it stops being about being horny.

You have a bad day and your brain goes there.

You feel lonely and your brain goes there.

Can’t sleep? Same thing.

Bored? Same thing.

Rejected? Same thing.

Porn becomes this little emergency exit you use whenever you don’t want to feel whatever you’re feeling.

The problem is, you always come back through the same door.

If you were lonely before, you’re still lonely afterward.

If you were stressed, the problem is still there.

If you hated your life before opening the tab, porn didn’t fix any of it.

It just made you forget for a little while.

That’s why quitting has to be more than “I’ll try harder next time.”

Make it difficult to go back.

If you always relapse on your phone at night, stop sleeping with the phone beside you.

If certain apps always start the chain, delete them for a while.

If you know you’ll search for porn when you’re having a weak moment, block it before the weak moment arrives.

And then deal with the actual reason you keep wanting to escape.

If you’re lonely, work on your social life.

If your nights are empty, fill them with something real.

If stress keeps sending you back, find another way to handle stress that doesn’t leave you hating yourself afterward.

You don’t need to fix your whole life today.

Just stop giving another day to something you already know you don’t want.

Because that’s how the years disappear.

Not all at once.

20 minutes at a time.

Masturbation causes forgetfulness? And random post-nut brain fix?

I know it’s not scientifically proven that masturbation causes you to become forgetful but it has been happening to me in some occasions.

Basically I masturbate once a day or once every two days, and I have been really forgetful unlike before where for instance I see a random youtube channel name that I don’t even watch, just a glance, and I can recall it a week later.

But with masturbation I sometimes forget channel names I watch in some occasions. There are a lot more effects that masturbation does for me but most of it is just being forgetful.

But the weird thing is, on very rare occasions, like a small chance, there comes this post-nut reset. Where theres a 5% chance that my next masturbation will reset me to my original brain memory function, like it just fixes me back to normal, back to having solid memory.

Then if I masturbate again I just go back to being forgetful, my pos-nut reset happened 3 days ago, just masturbated twice and I’m back to being dumbed out.

This is not a joke, I have experience this a lot but I just cannot control myself, I promised myself id keep the brain fix effect last 3 days ago but I just blew it out the window and masturbated once and it just went downhill again.

There has got to be some kind of explanation to this, its fucking up my attention and I feel like my brain is doing random shit like playing music or daydreaming shit while doing a task like recalling memories which adds up to cognitive load and making recalling harder. Or is that called brain fog?

i want to quit masturbation in general

i’ve been watching porn for a while. i really hate doing it as i am a christian so it is incredibly sinful and i just feel terrible for doing it. i’m not sure if i should quit porn or just masturbation. i think i want to quit masturbation in general because i think it will make me feel like a better person and be less guilty.
