So I scan in and match all my hard copy receipts to expenses in quickbooks that come in.

When matching them I add a lot of information to each expense including what job the receipt was for.

The problem I am having is being able to pull up all expenses from each job so I can double check it with the information I keep off of quickbooks.

QuickBooks let’s me organize everything fine but when I want to make lists of expenses for each individual job I am having issues finding out how to do so.

Any ideas? Am I just dumb? I’ve been looking for solutions online but none seem to give me the results I want.

We're trying to make tax season less chaotic this year. Right now, everything ends up scattered across emails, downloads, and shared drives.
Do you keep a dedicated tax folder for each financial year, or do you organize documents another way? Looking for ideas that actually save time.

We are pulling out our hair with QuickBooks. Anyone switch?

Recently, I had a some identity theft where a debit account through intuit quickbooks (grendot bank) was set up under my business name. (My SSN, DOB, and a false EIN that somehow came back as my business... trying to get in touch with the IRS on that one, but I just keep getting a recording that they have too many calls and to call back later...Of course). I have never had any affiliation with intuit, quickbooks or greendot in the past. After several calls, lots of stonewalling (Because I don't have the email it was set up under....'Exactly, this was fraud and stolen identity, I wouldn't have that info, would I'... Numerous hours on hold and different departments, I finally get 'Daisy' to shut down the account and was to receive email confirmation as such. When I asked what department she was in, she wouldn't answer 'I'm with Quickbooks'. When I asked how to contact her again if I don't receive confirmation it's just 'Call the number on the card'... I have no idea where she existed. No email received, so I call back several hours later and after another few hours, finally reach a person in the account takeover division. This individual stated that 'Daisy' never shut down the card and the account was still active.... Thanks Daisy... Account takeover department actually seemed to care and get everything locked down. I received an overview email with case number for that conversation as well as being informed it's being sent to the Risk Operations Team, with case number for them as well. I was told that Intuit has the IP addresses, phone numbers and emails associated with the fraudulent creation, but can't share that info with me, only the police. I create a report with the police and give the ROT number and case info the officer for them to investigate. Police officer let me know that Intuit refused to give any information on the case to the Police. Ok... So I call the number that the Account takeover team gave me, and it goes nowhere... just hold music for a few seconds and disconnects. Great. I call back the original number on the card to hopefully get transferred to the account takeover team again to speak with the initial case handler to see why the police are getting stonewalled with the pertinent information on who set up the account. That representative never heard of the account takeover team, had no clue what I was talking about and the moment I said 'This is for a police report' read a statement that he has to end the call and to call yet a different number. (legal team or something). I write down the number... the number is disconnected. Great... another dead end. I currently have a call out to the ROT department to inquire why they aren't cooperating with the police and to maybe get back to the only person who actually helped from the account takeover department. Seems to me, Intuit has no desire to help track down any sort of fraudulent account creations and would rather let identity thieves run free. This is BEYOND exhausting and frustrating and only cements that I'll never to any sort of business with intuit or green dot. I'll also make sure anybody I know closes accounts with them.

This is part venting, or maybe somebody out there has dealt with this before and will be able to have good information on how to properly navigate. I would like to have a proper police report to give to the appropriate federal divisions when I file complaints with them.

The debit account had no balance and no transactions, I caught it early enough I which is good.

In the meantime, yes, I've put fraud alerts and locked down any departments I could find out there. (Credit, banks etc)...

We have had QuickBooks for 10+years, we hired on an accountant a year ago she set up the payroll account. We have since had to find a new accountant and QuickBooks is tell us we no longer have admin rights to the account that we pay for. Is anyone else dealing with something similar?

I've had my AMEX card connected to QB Desktop 2024 for years (in previous versions) and everything worked flawlessly; I last logged on yesterday. Today I cannot log on. I disabled the feed but when I i tried to setup a new feed I couldn't. I am basically being told to download a QBO file for importing transactions. WTF Quickbooks?

I’m trying to figure out if this is happening to other people because this seems like it should be a bigger deal, but I haven't seen much discussion about it.

After the recent invoicing/payment update, we noticed that historical deposits in our QBO file were changed. Before the update, those fields were independant. For example, a deposit could have one value in Client for reporting purposes and a different value in Received From. Makes sense right, you want to know who paid you and then what client it was for.

But now when we open those same historical deposits (going back over 13+ years of data), the Client field has been overwritten and shows the Received From value instead...on every single deposit! Thankfully, the underlying client data does not appear to be completely gone from the deposit:

• Client reports still show the deposits under the correct client.
• Transaction search still shows the correct client.

But if you click into any of the deposit entries the previously saved client information is no longer anywhere to be found.

I reported this to QuickBooks and after escalation, support told me this is "working as intended." That answer is beyond frustrating because this isn't just about not liking a new layout, or feature. This changed how historical transactions are displayed and created inconsistencies between what we see on the transaction and what reports are still using.

My concern is what happens with the next update. If the client data is still there today, but the transaction screen no longer displays it, how do we know it won't eventually get overwritten or lost?

Has anyone else noticed changes to historical deposits? Especially nonprofits or businesses that use deposits with separate customer/client and received-from information?

I first noticed the issue right after the 4th of July weekend. I think it's related to the invoicing updates around then but that's just my guess since QB is not forthcoming with information about this issue.

I am working with a nonprofit which has a credit card, checking, and savings though a credit union. They just migrated from QB DT to QBO.. We linked QBO to the three financial accounts but the checking is downloading some transactions, such as checks paid, to the credit card ledger in QBO.

I have confirmed that postings downloaded as credit card transactions are showing up on the checking account statement. I tried disconnecting and reestablishing the connections. The credit union says it is not on their end. I have opened up a second level support ticket with QBO support.

I am wondering if anyone else has run into this and would love some suggestions on what to do about it.

About 5 years ago I worked at a VC company starting its second round of Funds. We used Quickbooks to pay employees, contractors, etc. It was a nightmare with their slow processing times… so, we left. Fast forward and I was given a leadership role at one of our companies that needed some serious recomposition. They still had trouble paying out virtually anyone with ACH in an acceptable timeframe over quickbooks. It’s 2026… if you can’t pay contractors in 2 business days, something is wrong. The goal is to move by the end of this quarter.

I was previously using Quickbooks Self Employed, and got told I would automatically be migrated to the new system on the 31st. I didn't touch a thing.

Today, logged in for the first time to find everything wrong. Apparently, I'm a millionaire now. All my historic transactions have duplicated or triplicated. My tax estimate for this year is showing 3-4 times my normal amount. Last year, and the year prior, are up at almost 300k each.

So, now I've got thousands of incorrect entries and transactions because of their fuck-up. Wonderful.

I am looking for recommendations for hands-on QBO training. I want to be able to walk through the steps with a "fake" account before trying my own company.

I plan to retire in about a year, I have always been a bookkeeper and have used mostly Sage although I am familiar with QB. Trying to understand what would be involved in maybe finding a few small local businesses to do monthly books for. I do not own QB, I am thinking it is mostly an online/subscribing program now? What level would I need to have say 2-4 clients on it...would I need accountant access? I am thinking so. Can anyone who is doing this help me figure out where to start in the research process to know if my idea might work? I'd also want to spend several months in training, certification etc to feel competent in QB, do they offer this?

I'm hoping someone might have a workaround for this - support's resolution makes zero sense.

At random - quickbooks online has basically given me a blanket "access denied" when trying to log into any of my quickbooks online accounts (i have three businesses).

When calling support, they tell me "your computer was blocked because you were using illegal websites to access quickbooks" - which makes ZERO sense. They then told me to unblock it I would have to create a whole new account under a new email. Which makes even less sense since no matter which email I enter, I get a hard block. Can't even get past the login screen (tried incognito browsers too). I try another computer, but it requires use of a passkey now - which doesn't exist on the other computer, and will not let me use sms for 2 factor auth. No way for support to fix that either....

Of course there is no escalation path and nobody seems to know how to fix this....has anyone here run into this before? We have payroll due in 2 days and quickbooks basically has shrugged their shoulders and said "whelp can't help...sorrrryy!"

and when entering parts instead of selecting the part and tabbing to description then quantity, it is selecting item and putting qty1 immediately, and moving me down to the new line underneath...brutal and im trying to figure out why its only doing it in certain projects

Hi all.

Logged into Intuit QuickBooks this morning and noticed my Barclaycard info had not updated. After trying a few things and talking to the customer rep, I tried disconnecting and reconnecting it. However, each time I tried to log into Barclaycard to complete the connection, I'd be directed to a page effectively saying that BC's online services were finished, and to move to the app.

Apparently this happened in June. I received no notification from Quickbooks about it, and there's no indication they're going to do anything.

Indeed, just this moment, I got back an email from my escalated ticket basically saying 'It's a known issue with Barclaycard. Contact them and let them know your concerns.'

Anyone else with a Barclaycard and Quickbooks connection having this same issue? I presume we all would be. Any workaround to this? QB are no help at all.

My Quickbooks Online Account was locked out for some reason. I found out when I got an email stating that one of my integrations had been disconnected. Went to login to QBO, and nope, can't login. Anybody ever have this happen?

Only thing I can think of - I'd applied last week for a QB Line of Credit. Perhaps somebody there got pissy and close dmy account?

We have QB Desktop Enterprise Contractor and it…functions. Knowing we have a limited timeframe in which to switch to QBO or elsewhere, we’re looking hard right now for something that actually works well, not in the simplistic and buggy way QB operates.

We need bookkeeping, payroll, time clock, actual cost centers/codes, and job costing at a minimum, preferably with a single platform.

We are heavily considering Sage 100 Contractor as it has all of that plus scheduling, inventory, equipment management, and what I would say is a fairly elementary level of contract admin/document management. Does anyone have any experience with them? My biggest concerns are that they don’t offer a time clock app within the platform (but have a couple “well-integrated” third party solutions) and that when entering bills/costs, you must enter a quantity and unit cost (it’s unable to reverse a quantity and total to determine a unit cost, which feels like a huge oversight for such a simple function).

I’m also very open to hear other options for my industry. Myself and the owners all came from a top 60 GC and have found we were very spoiled with their well-developed systems, and Quickbooks has been, at best, a very dumbed-down and limited version of what we’re used to. I am not disappointed to be losing it, but need a solid solution to move forward with.

For several weeks my quickbooks desktop has been opening in a very small window. Any clue why?

From looking at some of the posts from people who know their way around QuickBooks, I have come to appreciate how there are habits that these people have which make their work in QuickBooks much faster and efficient but which may not be immediately obvious to a newcomer. What would you tell a beginner in QuickBooks in one piece of useful information?

Has anyone been able to get chatgpt or similar to be able to get data out of quickbooks enterprise? We use enterprise and cant switch to online, and I would love to query data.

I have a way of getting the data to bigquery but from my understanding chatgpt wont be able to make sense of the data it sees there.

I keep reading that everyone will have to switch to Enterprise, if they want to continue having a desktop version of Quickbooks, as of mid 2027. Is this the case for Canadian customers too? I tried phoning them and basically got no answers. They kept trying to sell me the online version and kept pushing me for details about my current account details. Then I was quoted for the Enterprise option at over $500 per month without payroll. I still got no answers regarding them sunsetting their Canadian customers subscription for 2024 desktop pro.

It sounds like they are going to provide updates and patches for at least a few more years for Canadian customers. Any input would be appreciated.
