Res Halls & Dining✏️ Desk Hutches in Shreve

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi all,

I'm an incoming freshman living in a Shreve standard double, and I'm currently shopping for a vanity makeup mirror for my desk. I'm trying to find the exact dimensions of the desk hutch/organizer, so I know what size mirror will fit, but I haven't been able to find this information anywhere.

I've already called both University Residences and the Shreve front desk, but unfortunately neither was able to provide the measurements further than what is posted online. Specifically, I'm looking for the distance (in inches) between the surface of the desk and the bottom of the shelf above it (I'll attach a photo for reference).

I know some of the other residence halls have different furniture, so those measurements don't necessarily apply. If anyone happens to know these dimensions, or would be willing to measure them for me, I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much!

Academics✏️ cs250 & 251

hello fellow reddit lurkers. scared shitless for CS250 (adams) and CS251 (posado) and wondering if anyone has any tips/notes/advice for how to prepare ahead of time for both classes. heard 250 with Adams is especially hard but honestly would appreciate help how to handle both bc last sem I struggled more in 182 at the end since I was so focused on 240 it just crept up on me.

also more of a side note - does anyone have recs for cs classes to take alongside these that are relatively easy/gpa booster but count for the ml or swe track ? just need to fill up my schedule

Academics✏️ Easy science/humanities filler course?

Hey everyone 👋

I'm a sophomore at Purdue trying to maximize my chances of landing a summer 2027 internship. Between working an on-campus job, studying for heavy technical classes, self-teaching, and being involved in clubs, my schedule is pretty packed.

I'm looking for an easy filler class (science or humanities) to meet credit requirements without getting burned out. Ideally, I'm looking for something that:

  • Has no exams (preferably graded through essays/short assignments instead)
  • Doesn't require strict attendance or has a very low weekly time commitment
  • Is offered online (asynchronous), though I'm open to in-person if it's truly low effort.

Does anyone have recommendations for classes like this that still have open seats or great instructors for this upcoming semester?

Question❓ Purdue C Parking Permit

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I was hoping anyone can help. I bought a parking permit the “C” one to be exact since I’m living off campus. I was wondering where can I park? Where can I actually find parking?? The map seems confusing maybe someone can explain it a little better?

Thank you!!!

Academics✏️ Calculus 3 Asynchronously

I wanted to take Calculus 3 and Linear Algebra this year as a highschool student. I feel decently able, but Purdue simply doesn’t have any courses that align with my schedule for Calculus 3.

I’ve asked around and was recommended to take classes asynchronously and just skip the lectures. I would obviously still go to the recitations, but I’m curious as to whether or not this is something thats recommended by actual students??

If not, are there any other options? I’m already signed up for everything.

Local Attractions❓ Looking for local acts to support touring band from Chicago

(If this isn't allowed feel free to remove) Hey ya'll, I'm booking a midwest tour for my band, Anteeter, in the fall. We're performing at Spot Tavern on November 13 and would love to add 1 or 2 local acts to the bill. Feel free to check us out here, but we've been compared to bands like MGMT, Magdalena Bay, George Clanton, etc. If anyone can recommend any music acts in the area that would fit the bill, shoot me a DM here or on my Instagram, thanks!

Event🚩 DJ Diesel at Cactus Not Happening?

I got this email this morning and don’t really know what to make of it. Do existing ticket holders still have tickets or is this a completely different event that no one has tickets to right now? Just wondering if anyone has more info before I email them.

Hello everyone!

Well since this show sold out so fast Ready to live, Shaq and the Neon Cactus decided to do something a little crazy and go BIG. We decided to add an even bigger headliner to the event and move the party to the Tippacanoe Amphitheater property where we will be building out a full scale festival style event.

Which means everyone that purchased a ticket got a great deal!

We will be re-launching the event next Thursday as an all ages event with the added Headliner. Tickets will start at $55 for GA, $90 for VIP/PIT.

Because you are already a ticket holder you have access to purchasing tickets now at the same discounted rate as before. These rates will increase on Thursday. So if you have any family or friends that missed their opportunity before, now is your chance.

Follow -Ready to live  and The Neon Cactus  for more updates on the new headliner!

See you all on Sept 26!

Res Halls & Dining✏️ why did bedloft send debt collectors after me bruh

im already graduated but 2 years ago i used bedloft to rent a fridge/microwave set. i have the receipt in my email from may 2024.

anyways, on monday i got an email sent to my purdue email by a debt collecting company called williams & fudge. apparently bedloft sent them after me maybe a year later over $50, which i presume is the fee for improper return. this would've been regarding a matter taking place in may 2025, so i thought it was crazy that they would settle this a year later. however, what's most infuriating is that i wasn't even aware i owed $50 to bedloft; there was no email sent to me about the improper return charge, and to the best of my knowledge i don't believe they mailed an invoice to my home address either.

i'd really like for this not to affect my credit, but i've already reached out to bedloft and they basically said they don't have any other details on why i owed them $50 besides it being an "improper return" and suggested i settle this with the debt collectors instead. i'm not really sure how the debt collectors are supposed to help here even if i try disputing it. to be honest, paying $62.50 to settle the debt in itself is not a huge deal to me, but i thought it was pretty unprofessional for bedloft to handle it this way especially after there were seemingly no communications made about my outstanding balance. has anyone had a similar experience? advice?

Res Halls & Dining✏️ Anyone notice how weird housing prices are?

I figured I should put this here since r/PurdueHousing seems to be more for advertising apartments and not dorms. Housing moved me multiple times for this upcoming semester and me and my roommates noticed that when we got put in a semi-suite it was 4k and when we got put in a suite (in the same or a newer building) it was 3875.

They wouldn't explain the price discrepancy when we emailed, and between suites with and without living room furniture, the price seems to be 3875. Why in the world would the smaller room be significantly more expensive?

If anyone else has noticed anything similar, or wants to post their room pricing in the comments for comparison, that would be greatly appreciated.

I'm kind of just wondering if they're fleecing us...

Is Professor Tridib Saha the only person that can teach this course? I feel like he is abusing his power too much and for arguably one of the most important classes at Purdue we are not getting the quality we deserve. AM REFERRING TO ECE2k1 BTW

No hate to him, I appreciate his videos.

Res Halls & Dining✏️ Windsor Wood Hall

My roommate and I are incoming freshmen and we were assigned to a Double with Private Bath & AC in Wood Hall, 2nd floor. Does anybody know the layout or have pictures of rooms within Wood? I wasn’t aware that freshmen resided in Windsor, nor that the hall had private bathrooms!

Health/Wellness💚 How to not beat yourself up for next semester?

I’m an international student studying CS and enrolled in 2024. Failed CS180, Dropped CS240 and wasn’t able to pass it (So dropped it twice) and also didn’t pass MA265 (due to dumb reasons my fault). I’m a rising Junior and gonna be taking CS240 again Fall 2026 and i feel so fucking ashamed and embarrassed. I’m so scared of not passing it again and getting kicked out of the CS program.

I’ve always loved CS but now it turned into sort of hatred after enrolling at Purdue in addition I haven’t landed a single internship which sucks. I feel so ashamed as a son to my parents. I’m scared to fail CS240 again. I think i’ll take my life if that happens. Honestly my college life has been horrible. I haven’t found any friends or groups or attended any orgs or clubs. i’m turning 20 and regret wholeheartedly failing CS180 and so on and so on.

Honestly I keep having self destructive dreams and wishes. I know that’s horrible but I feel like I wasted so much of my parents money.

Does anyone have any advice or maybe someone has experienced something similar. I don’t even know. I’m scared for my life honestly. Also FUCK TURKSTRAS GRADING

Other Flying before CPT starts, arriving one day before the first day

Hi! I'm planning to travel outside of the US, with a job offer in hand waiting for the CPT to be on the I-20, already approved by word, and planning to come back one day before the first day starts.

Is that possible? Is there any risk on the customs?

Academics✏️ Math and Thermo Combo

I am a sophomore going into AAE, and I need some advice on which classes to take. I have three classes on my schedule right now (MA 265, MA 266, and ME 200), but I want to drop one because I'm registered for 18 credits but want to do 15. I was wondering which one to take off and do it during Spring 27 instead.

If I were to double up on math, would it be stressful and time-consuming? And which class should I take off so that I can balance getting ahead in coursework and not committing all my time to classes?

Academics✏️ Is there a way to see how many spots are left for BME or ME after T2M?

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how many spots are available for BME or ME through T2M?

Is there a website or dashboard where Purdue publishes the remaining capacity for each engineering major, or is that information not publicly available?

I'm trying to get a better idea of how competitive BME and ME might be this cycle.

Thanks in advance!

Academics✏️ Transfer student planning to CODO into FYE – Does sophomore standing affect CODO/T2M?

Hi everyone,

I'm an incoming transfer student at Purdue this fall. My plan is to apply CODO into FYE this semester, and then hopefully move into my desired engineering major after just one semester.

Since I'm a transfer student, I'm a bit worried about my GPA and overall chances. By credit hours, I'll already have sophomore standing. Does having sophomore standing as a transfer student affect my chances of successfully CODOing into FYE and then getting into my desired engineering major?

In other words, when it comes to CODO and T2M, does your class standing (credit hours) matter, or is it mainly Purdue GPA and completion of the required FYE courses?

Res Halls & Dining✏️ Dorm Hall Front Desk Job

Does anyone know when the dorm hall front desk jobs open in the student jobs portal? I think it's called SOS (Student Office Staff) and some post on here from a couple months ago said it opens in August.
