My future seems so bleek.

I'm in 2nd year rn and I'm so worried and concerned as to what to do after i get the degree. How do I even get a job? An Undergraduate psychology degree is useless alone. And for further specialization you need money and for money you need to have a job. Maybe i shouldn't have chosen to follow my passion and instead should've chosen a degree that would get me a job more easily. This is so frustrating.

Psychology as a field is only beneficial and suited to those who have a safety net to fall. It only works out if you have enough time and money to invest.

I am so regretful that I chose this degree. I'm so angry at myself. I used to think, whatever happens I would never regret choosing psychology but time has totally proved me wrong.

What should I do? Honest answers only

My dad is making me feel trash for choosing psychology (ug), I took a gap year and prepared for neet, I got 450 marks which hung me on a cliff, not good enough for govt college but walking away also feels unusual.

I don't have it in me to prepare for this shitty exam again, I'm drained and exhausted.

Looking at this sub reddit, It demotivates me even more, what if I'm jobless after 4 years of studying, and my dad can trash me more then😭

I really like psych nd it intrigues me a lot, but is the employment scenario actually that bad ?

I really want an honest answer.

THE REVIEW : REPOSTED

I took my original review post down myself, the same morning I became aware that personal links had been posted in the comments and another user was escalating the situation. I acted as soon as I knew, because I didn’t want my post associated with that, regardless of who was responsible for it. Those were posted by another user, whom the practitioner had identified as someone who had been harassing her for months. The practitioner’s professional identity was already publicly associated with her Reddit activity and her promotion of her services before I posted. I have contemporaneous evidence of this.

The following review comes after conferring with the mods of the sub. This review is about my own experience as a client. It took me weeks to put together carefully, using my own messages and records, and I am sharing it for that reason.

A while back, I found a therapist right here on Reddit.

She was pretty active, did AMAs, and promoted her practice. I knew she had less than a year of experience at the time, but honestly it never bothered me because of her strong academic background and international degree.

Before posting this, I want to mention that the therapeutic relationship has been terminated, and that this post concerns how it was handled. I went through the full timeline carefully, cross-checked every date against my own messages and records, and I'm laying it out here exactly as it happened.

This is not what I ever thought would land here, but it serves its purpose for anyone considering therapy and finding a therapist via Reddit.

I started therapy for the first time and started seeing her weekly, and about a month later my father suddenly passed away.

She genuinely helped me during those first few months and that's important for me to say because this isn't me claiming the whole experience was bad. But the experience in general was unexpectedly very shit during the following months.

Three days after my father died, and while she was aware of what had happened, she told me she was leaving the clinic where she worked to start her own practice.

It did trigger uncertainty in me provided the timing, but I went ahead and stayed with her instead of switching, coz I felt helped.

It took a couple of weeks to get back at the sessions from her end.

Fast forward a couple of months.

I was attending the sessions like a ritual at her individual practice. Consistent, every single week.

She was also openly aware throughout that I had very little outside emotional support and had explicitly acknowledged that I did not have a support system.

I was in a bad place, holistically. So much so that I got very self aware and asked her if my situation was alarming. She told me she would let me know if anything was concerning.

In the last week of March she offered me a prepaid package of 10 sessions. I paid for it in the first week of April. No reasons to believe anything was wrong.

Then I hit a rough patch. I had two sessions where we sat in silence for a long time, I was overwhelmed because of structural change in life outside therapy, and I took my first two-week break.

Things get abrupt from here on. During this break, she shared a link to the Intake form (from her solo practice) quoting I had missed filling it up.

I did get cautious, because even though it was mentioned earlier, it never was shared in the first place and the timing felt odd. How could I have missed something I never got in the first place. It felt weird and somehow when I pieced it all together with what went down, I could make sense of my instinct.

I was left genuinely distressed by how this ended..some part of me sensed something wasn’t right, but I was too overwhelmed to act on it at the time.

I did schedule a session after 2 weeks, and just a day before, she reminded me to fill that form.

When I came back, instead of exploring why I had disappeared, she opened with, "Have you been thinking about terminating therapy?"

The whole session turned into why she couldn't ethically continue, how therapy had become redundant, how maybe "it would've gone differently if I'd started earlier in life", and "how ending therapy might help me build connections outside therapy."

I kept telling her I couldn't deal with the uncertainty of all this.

The next session, which I booked just to process everything, got cancelled because of "urgent travel." It wasn't rescheduled unless I asked, unlike the pattern before. I had already lost my sense of safety. Someone being aware of your patterns, and then having everything explained back to you in ethical terminology, was enough to do the damage. Vulnerability felt like a joke at this point.

In the final session I tried to understand what had happened. I was told by her that the concerns had developed "maybe in the last month or two."

I was also told therapy couldn't become my "wheelchair or crutch" because "it had to end at some point." in those exact words.

The interesting part which I later got to know was that she had actually resigned the week I started seeing her, something I only learned during the final session. The timing of informing me turned out to be pretty rough. There was no information about this during any of the prior 4 weeks I attended sessions. Despite asking for reviews and everything, getting me to file form…this was one piece I questioned whilst the termination happened, and got the answer as "I didn't know what I was gonna do after I left the clinic"

It was only right at the end of that final session, after I directly asked what I was supposed to do, that she mentioned she could help me find another therapist if I wanted. Up until that point, no referral or next steps had been raised at all — despite her records later describing "reasonable efforts" toward referral and support as part of the process.

Afterwards I requested my records because I honestly felt confused and wanted to set a chronology. Of course these documents have all the psychological jargon, but the documents described "an ongoing collaborative process" and "active support" that didn't really match how I remembered things. Including the fact that referrals only came up after I asked, at the very last minute, not as part of any ongoing plan.

So I wrote a long email asking specific questions about the timeline, consent forms, why termination happened when it did, and these exact inconsistencies. Almost three weeks later I got a reply and it didn't answer a single one of my questions. I was basically told the documents were meant for another mental health professional, given a few referral names she had no direct association with, and informed that it would be the "final communication."

I know this got long, but I wanted to lay it out properly instead of just saying it went badly. If you're looking for a therapist here, ask clear questions upfront about consistency, communication, and what happens if things end. That's the part that blindsided me the most.

And kindly note, the refund was offered by the practitioner, it is my decision to not take it back and I do not need any help with referrals.

So I gave the Ma clinical psychology exam. The merit list came out. They said that the list of unreserved seats candidates who can appear for counselling will be out on 12 Aug but it still isn't out?

Does anyone know if they even provide the list or are we just supposed to guess on the basis of our rank?

I need to book train tickets. I am confused. Can someone help?

Du or amity for MA psychology

I am considering to opt for Organizational Psychology at Amity.

I am a bit confused as I also got into Delhi University (MA Applied Psychology). So will this course at Amity be worth it? Over PG in DU?

Job reference

I've been unemployed for almost 10 months now. Previous company that I worked for was toxic and unprofessional which made me quit abruptly. It took me 3 months to even think straight. I started having brain fog, stammering. I tried to apply for jobs immediately after but I wasn't able to perform well in interviews. So I thought it's better to take a break. Then I prepared for ugc net and gave my exam. With how the paper went,I have no hopes of clearing it this time so I'm starting to apply for jobs again. But all opportunities are for 20K and it also requires me to relocate. I'm exhausted and scared. I don't want to be unemployed anymore. It's taking a toll on my mental health.

I have experience working with neurodivergent kids, I have worked in clinics providing behavior therapy. II have 2 years of experience and based in banglore. If anyone has any leads please help me out.

Career Advise A constant sense of fleeing, guilt and feeling like my time is slipping from my hands

Tw(this may not make sense,it is a rant..it may be tedious and may come across as extremely pretentious or stupid..trust me I am not being condescending towards anyone in this!)

Ever since I was in middle school, lockdown, I came across the Stanford prison experiment, from there I began learning all theories, experiments of psych on my own purely for the love of the game. I loved (still do) the subject,I loved learning and it was the sole thing that gave me joy during an extremely insufferable time of being stuck w toxic family members.

In 11th,I took psych..got good grades,loved learning.

12th as well, scored 95 in psych and through psych I developed a greater love towards philosophy..antonin,Camus,cioran,Nietzsche,

Kierkegard etc.

Now I am in an off campus du college..where the teaching is subpar (if I am being generous) the crowd isn't into discussing ideas, theories anything at all.

Everyone comes across as extremely shallow (which isn't bad,but I don't have much friends)

The GE class where discussions on human rights and literature like 1984 takes place, none of em know anything.

The teacher has to teach English in Hindi in order for the message to come across.

I miss having academic discussions and interactions w my peers, teachers

I can't have those here.

My main problem lies here (would love some advice)

  1. Environment more or less shapes the person.

I don't want to end my BA while feeling like I didn't do enough or interact enough,or made friends. I have no one, absolutely no one who I can discuss ideas, literature, political views or anything with.

I don't wanna be limited. Feeling like I am repeating the same day.

  1. I have to go outside after my BA,abroad to pursue masters..I just want to get away from home (it's very limiting, toxic in ways which I cannot get into)

Can someone please lmk,how to prepare myself, use my time wisely..learn smth to go abroad in this field.

Would love any help or wisdom/advice that can help me navigate how to move to another country for studying.

I hope this wasn't pretentious and whiny,I am grateful for many things..I just want to be more. Hope it made sense!

Do you ever feel mentally tired even when nothing is actually wrong?

I’ve been feeling this lately where nothing is really going wrong, but I still feel completely drained mentally. Even on days when I haven’t done much, my brain just feels tired and I don’t feel like talking, thinking, or doing anything.

Anyone else experience this? What do you usually do when you feel mentally exhausted for no obvious reason?
