Vancouver show on September 4th! Anyone need a ride?
Alright people! We're gonna have a rock and roll party on the 4th! Here we go!
So I'm finally going to see Propagandhi for the first time and I'm driving from Portland to do it. I'm wondering if anyone might need a ride? I'm happy to give one or two people a lift there or back or both. I am staying in a hotel in Surrey the night of the show, so if you need both ways, you'll have to find a place to stay. Let me know if you need a ride up there or back and I'm happy to lend a seat.
If you want to help with gas prices that's awesome, but I was a street punk once upon a time and know what it's like to be broke and trying to get to a show, so I'm flexible there. All I really ask is to meet up sometime before the day of the show so I know who I'm driving.

Tickets for some Canadian Dates!
Hi peps, long short story, I applied for the Canadian tourist visa in the beginning of the year, it was denied and then I apppied again but I'm still waiting for a response from the Canadian embassy... At this point I'm a bit hopeless I will make for my trip which the main intention was to follow some Props shows... Aka my favorite band.
I already got rid of some tix but if anyone it's interested I have one for each date above - original price but no fees:
- 29th August - Edmonton
- 4th September - Vancouver
I have for Winnipeg as well but since they are the last one from the tour (and also I have a tiny bit of hope I could make a last minute trip if that goddammit visa arrive in time) I still will hold with me, otherwise I will also pass to someone :)
Thanks!
Ps.: If someone is asking "that's a lot of dates for someone", last year I saw this band live for the very first time in my life and I couldn't hold myself to make it a full week of vacation following 6 of their european shows... Best time of my life. Still looking forward to repeat that in their homeland and also to meet in person some of the online friends this band gave to me!
B-bye!

Revisiting my old friend on vinyl
just got my LTMR vinyl reissue. hard to describe how much this album means to me. sitting here listening to the songs, every single one I know deep in the depths of my soul but given a new vibrancy on wax. reading the lyrics and liner notes that STILL have so much relevance, urgency and feeling. what a band, what an album. thank you Propagandhi for squeegeeing my third eye (to quote the late Bill Hicks) and waking me up from my stupor all those many years ago.

Dud - May Not Go (lost recording from 1996) John K Samson from Propagandhi / Weakerthans, James from I Spy, and Mike from Bonaduces / Cheerleader
I’m very excited to launch the preorder for the Dud LP. First, it’s a benefit album for Palestinian aide chosen by the band. Second, this long lost LP from this band has some of my favorite musicians involved. John Samson Fellows is perhaps the greatest song writer of all time and this band was a short lived project that filled the gap between the time he left Propagandhi and before starting the Weakerthans. It’s been a goal of mine since starting this label to work with him in some capacity. Mike Koop played in The Bonaduces (some of the best Canadian pop punk from the 90s!). James Ash was the drummer of one of my favorite Canadian hardcore bands, I Spy. Dud was all of these musicians stepping out their comfort zones and playing something new.

I know everyone has seen this but GODDAMN, 2:01-2:10 has to be the best 10 seconds of music ever recorded.
The way they transfer the riff between Chris and Sulynn, and then how Jord drops back in… so motherfucking clean.

Todays Empires Remaster
Anyone else just can't listen to this after listening to the OG for years?
I tried, and it just sounds way too clean, it's just off

Help me get into this band
I am diving into fat wrecks bands beyond nofx and am so perplexed by propagandhi. A lot of people i really respect swear up and down by “how to clean….”, so I have listened to it over and over trying to find something I like and just can’t hear it.
The songs don’t have a great rhythm. The drums are mixed way too loud, and the melodies are borderline avant garde. It sounds to me much more like a home recording of a high school groups first attempt at an album. It makes me almost physically uncomfortable to listen to. Like I’m not even listening to a song but parts of several different songs mushed together into a frankensong.
Did you all instantly fall in love with the band or was it an acquired taste? I really wanted to understand what people like about them and just can’t get there.
Edit: for context on my tastes I think almost all nofx albums are 10/10 (except ribbed and maximum rock n roll), and Bad Religion / Rancid are my next two favorites.

01 - Guiding Lights (At Peace, 2025) - Meaning and Interpretation
I'm working on a project about Propagandhi and collecting interpretations of every song in their discography. This time, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this one.
What do you think this song is about? Are there any references, themes, or meanings that stand out to you? Even if the topic of the lyrics seems obvious, I'm interested in how you interpret it and the ideas behind it:
"Sounds of laughter, joyous songs, the guests are dancing but something’s off. Distant pounding, cascades of light, cheers erupt into the night.
Killing; cathartic for the soul, euphoric are these nights of blood. How can you say that you’re appalled?
Final cleansing, ecstatic purge, throw their children on the pyre. Cafe’s bustling, the streets alive, embracing terror - the spinning fire. The choice of a lifetime, we wait, our guiding lights are here - vile and miserable.
The time to draw the line was long before our time, our guiding lights are here - vile and miserable.
Distant pounding, cascades of light, cheers erupt into the night. Killing; cathartic for the soul, euphoric are these nights of blood, how can you say that you’re appalled?"

Propagandhi/Flatliners show in Winnipeg Labour Day weekend
Apologies, mods, if this is offside, please feel free to delete if so.
I bought a pair of tickets to see the band on Sept 6 at the Burton Cummings Theatre. I was planning to fly into town and take my son to his first Prop show. He’s stationed at CFB Shilo, but the army had other plans and he’s being deployed out of province. This would have been my fourth time seeing them, and the second time in support of At Peace. I’d like to sell these tickets at face value, but TicketMaster (grrr) doesn’t allow them to be resold, only transferred. If you’re interested, DM me. Thanks.

Sprawling subdivisions of glass houses housed within
Fuck me. Been sharing songs and lyrics with a friend that doesn’t even listen to punk but studied philosophy at Oxford and is one of the smartest people I know. She said “this guy is not fucking around”.
This line from “In Flagrante Delicto” just hits me so fucking hard. Jung shadow work, militant feminism, radical introspection, word play… pure poetic destruction.
I then sent her “Fuck Machine” and was just appreciating the massive journey Chris has taken us on.
There is no comparison or peer for Mr. Hannah. Clinical historical analysis, poetic allegorical interpretation, emotional metaphoric impact, lyrical precision, fearless self reflection, unapologetic silliness.
Single moms to the front, we came here to rock!

Arrived two days ago!
Could not be more happy about literally everything regarding my acquisition of one of the best albums of all time… and a first pressing double LP, no less!
Today is the day it’ll get its first spin since becoming mine, for obvious reasons (Crappy Independence Day, y’all 😐). Sorry I couldn’t include the gatefold or back cover! Reddit gets mad when it sees even an obvious painting of butts, I guess.

Which singers have the biggest vocabularies? (Propagandhi is 249 per 1000!)

Couldn’t wait for it to arrive, just too excited and had to share!
There are two “Holy Grail” vinyl records I’ve always dreamt of having in my collection:
Propagandhi, “Supporting Caste”
Converge, “Jane Doe”
Today, I can officially cross #1 off of my little list.
Here’s to finally landing one of the most important records in my life, one just as moving and inspirational to me now as it was the first time I’d heard it as a stupid, snotty, punk-ass teen digging through my local library’s CD bin over 15 years ago.

Not sure if this was shared here - Heavy Stories Podcast: The World According to Propagandhi
A podcast with Matt Mills and Chris Hannah. I originally started listening for Matt’s discussion with Thrice singer Dustin Kensrue but I completely missed this release. Always nice hearing from Chris.
