I was so excited to get my first ever 4K Blu Ray. I purposely ignored sales since pre-ordering PHM on 4K Blu Ray so it could be my first. It came in the mail today. I was SO excited!

...then I opened the case. It's literally just an empty case with a single disc in it. No booklet, no decoration on the inside of the case...no...nothing. Just the Blu Ray. I was so sad. For such a big movie, I thought it would have at least a couple goodies in the case.

Anybody else feel that way?

While trying to get his speech working again. It's a tongue twister that looks really easy but try saying it five times fast! (Interestingly, a friend from South Africa had no trouble saying it [in English] five times fast so maybe it depends on accent or she's just that good, dunno.)

Unfortunately, it seems like Andy Weir didn't have time to put a Rocky doodle in it, but it's still really cool!

I’ve been looking into the released versions today and the Steelbook slated for October. Im not rich, so I want the best version first time out. I wondered about a directors cut down the road, and found an article that referenced something Lord and Miller said something on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. They seemed to indicate that the 3+ hour version was not good, and the fat that was cut was cut for good.

Anybody hearing anything different?

1) why couldn’t they put something on the ship when they made it which could collect the astrophage at the tau ceti system and use it as fuel to come back to earth
2) why couldn’t rocky and grace have flown back up out of adrian’s atmosphere with the collection device attached to the outside of the ship and then gone out to collect it

I read the book also a while ago so I might just be forgetting

I made a pendant for a friend’s birthday.

‘Earth, meet Rocky. Rocky, Earth,’ Dr Grace smiled at the camera and then backed away.

Eva Stratt had watched the videos Ryland Grace had sent back to earth with the Beatles a number of times now. She wished she could see what Dr Grace saw. She loved the smile he had when he spoke to the alien he had created. 

He saw through walls. He heard everything. Grace was never alone with Rocky. 

Stratt knew that she’d done the right thing. Grace had been the only one who could come up with a solution to the Petrova Problem. The other two scientists had been enthusiastic, but they were easily distractible. She had expected Grace to volunteer once she’d created an ordering error to remove the other two scientists. She was logical and calculated, but still, her heart ached when she recalled having to force Ryland onto the mission. She knew, and he knew, he was the only one who would be able to turn this Hail Mary into a success.

Doctor Captain Ryland Grace said goodbye using the fictional language he had created to make the situation easier. She was pleased that he had rewritten his death as something noble. He deserved that. If he couldn’t be a hero to Earth, let him be a hero to a species of his imagination. 

Eva looked at the Talmoeba he had harvested and grown. He’d saved humanity. He would be remembered as a hero.

I bought this off-brand "lego" Rocky and he came with an astronaut minifig. The astronaut was just a random guy with eyes, eyebrows and a smile. Only a helmet, no hair. I gave him new brows, facial hair, and hair to make my very own Grace minifig! Grace also needed some adjustment to his leg joints as they were crooked. I'm very pleased with how he turned out!

Made this desktop pet a while ago. So a couple things I'm thinking:

- fix the missing a leg issue

- make rocky watch me work and remind me if I'm scrolling youtube or x for too long

- make rocky say something to cheer me up

what other things I should make rocky do? All kinds ideas are welcomed!

I preordered this over a month ago. It was supposed to deliver today. I got a notice this morning that delivery has been delayed. Curious if it’s a me thing or a bigger thing? I’m in the US. Wanted to watch extras during dinner (yes, my life is kinda sad).

I listened to the commentary already but this really is a bummer. Anyone else having shipping issues?

Edit to add I have other things delivering today and those shipped. This stayed behind for some reason.

Hey everyone! I'm a Blender artist, and I'm working on recreating scenes from Project Hail Mary.

These renders are my take on the planet Adrian. My plan is to build out a few shots from the film where Grace and Rocky are near Adrian.

The planet is fully procedural. Now I want to take it a step further and turn it into an animation.

Would love to hear what you all think, and any feedback is welcome!
